What! In Nagoya if you're texting on the subway you have to wait until you get to a station to send it because there's nothing in the tunnels. All this technology is freaking me out!!!! Japan really isn't as technologically advanced as I was led to believe it would be. Koreeaaaaa you awesome T△T -Rachel

I always find subway cell reception..reception at all tbh... to be a poor measure of anything. Lots of metro systems have been trying to get deployment of cell towers/repeaters. Helps if you have few carries and lots of government "involvement". That said I find often reception is more a function of the phone you have than anything. My cellphone trends to work in the metro here in TO where most don't. Mostly cause I tried to make sure I got one that had a good radio. Hint, if you got a carrier branded one, it likely doesn't. They have to save money somewhere to make up the drastic price cuts the carries get, and usually the easiest way is a different radio daughter board assembly. Certainly my phone choice in Ohio allowed me to get and make calls in a town that my of carrier claims to this day is 12 miles outside of their coverage.

Well, the US isn't the only powerful country out there who is a heavy polluter. China is at the top, and countries like Russia, South Korea, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and Germany are also in the top for CO2 emissions. You also have to take in account the amount of CO2 by country size and population density. The thing about being a highly industrialized country is that you have to try balancing both the economic side and environmental side of industry. Generally the more environmentally friendly choice will be more expensive. My guess is that until becomes cheaper, we wont be seeing many drastic changes. The whole global recession didn't really help either.

That parking idea is really awesome, but in America that would only makes things worse (at least now) because there's a pretty serious job shortage. Automated help like parking assistance and self-checkouts at stores are going to replace humans, so even LESS jobs available to the public. :/

Whaattttt. That parking thing is the best thing I've ever heard of! In the parking garage at the Orlando, Florida airport in the USA, you get a physical ticket when you first enter and then you have to drive up and down the levels until you find a spot. The levels have a picture of an animal like a pig or a giraffe so we can remember more easily which level we are in, but other than that I'm left to remember on my own where I'm parked parked after coming back from my 2 month vacation.

A new thing I've noticed popping up around NYC is they'll have iPads at the table or near the register where you order your food yourself and then pay the cashier or waiter - depending on establishment.

@sK7kiMSan7Ks
@sK7kiMSan7Ks 10 жыл бұрын
Sean Nguyen It costs $1.36 to power an iPad for a year. If you see it in ways, the iPad is a good investment compared to paying $8-16/hr + tip for a year. It also reduces the probability of causing human errors resulting in less frustration to many customers. The pros outweigh the cons in this situation apparently, but you can still expect "quality" restaurants using waiters to provide an authentic dining experience. Life will be automated sooner or later.

I live in Tasmania, Australia, which is roughly the same size as South Korea, and let me tell you, I struggle to get phone reception in certain areas WITHIN MY OWN APARTMENT, THAT IS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF HOBART CITY. Tasmania has such shocking reception in most places, and its so touchy it can change from room to room, everyone struggles with it. Even at my work place, for some reason there is no reception AT ALL in the bathrooms! But as soon as you leave the bathroom, bam, reception is back again =_=" So I really don't think the size of the country has much to do with it.

I was on vacation in Dubai & stayed at 2 5* star hotels except for the burj & didn't really have that kind of tech. It's more possible to find a house made out of gold tho. In Dubai who needs tech to hold your keys & open the door for you when you got servants for that lol.

Love your videos guys. I am staying Singapore and most of the technologies you mentioned also exist here in Singapore. Especially the parking lots technologies, most of our shopping malls have the same red & green light indications and the number of lots available technology. We have a similar technology of paying parking fee, except its not through our license plate number but through a in-vehicle unit gadget which every cars in Singapore has. Also some places also have the technology of the escalator, except over here the escalators are not off, they are instead on a standby mode, which the escalator will move uber slowly until someone approaches and it will pick up speed again.

Some of the stuff presented in this video are "sort of" happening in Canada. Sort of. Like the escalator thing, they don't completely stop when no one's there, but they run really slowly to save energy, and go faster depending on how many people get on it. If 1-2 people are on the escalator, it stays at the same slow pace, but if there are several people, then it goes faster. We also have motion-activated lights, and some cellphone providers allow use of our phones in the subway, but not all of them. :'D We also have motion-activated faucets (instead of having a solar panel), but they sometimes turn off ahead of time when you're still washing your hands, so the solar panel sounds way more convenient.

HailEternal RedOcean I live in Montreal but I do go to Toronto quite often and I have seen those over there too. ._. You might not notice any difference in the escalators' speed, as it remains at the same speed most of the day, but it's really really slow late at night (around midnight I'd say). My cellphone also works in Toronto's subway and I have seen motion-activated faucets in public toilets such as the Eaton Center downtown Toronto.

As what they say in the video, obviously we do need internet underground, not just because we can't use internet while waiting for the subway to come but also for safety and emergency reasons

In Estonia, seeing the parking vacancies on screens in parking lots is very common, and most apartment houses have a system, where you can answer the front door of the whole building using a phone in your apartment to talk to the person and open the door (it's only for opening the door though, and doesn't have any of the high tech stuff you described). The motion-controlled stuff is very common aswell. Great video, guys! :)

I work in Downtown Disney in Orlando, and I learned that the undergoing construction will bring a smart parking garage. When you drive up to the gate, there will be a screen telling you the exact empty spot in which level of the garage. And if there is another car behind you, the screen will tell them a different spot, assuming you will get the spot they just told you so there won't be two cars fighting for one spot. :) thank you for this video! So informational and helpful!
