Huawei P40 Pro vs Mate 30 Pro vs P30 Pro | Which Huawei Phone is Best For Me?

Күн бұрынComparing the Huawei P40 Pro with the older Mate 30 Pro and P30 Pro, to see if this 2020 flagship really does upgrade the camera tech, speed, battery life and overall specs. Have a squint at my full P40 Pro unboxing for a closer look at that hardware and EMUI 10.1 software.
I'm still a massive fan of last year's P30 Pro, as you'll know if you've watched my 2020 long term review. Likewise, the Mate 30 Pro offers some serious updates, including improved video shooting and a speedy Kirin 990 chipset. The P40 Pro further tweaks that primary camera lens, with a new large-pixel 50MP sensor, while bringing back the 5x optical zoom from the P30.
Battery life is solid with all three Huawei smartphones. You get a 4200mAh cell on the P-series handsets, while the Mate offers a 4500mAh battery. Wireless charging on all, but it's faster on the P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro.
If you're after Google apps and services, your best bet is still the P30 Pro - after that, it's Huawei's App Gallery all the way.

Honestly, when mate 30 pro was initally released, i thought the design was ugly. A year later, i think it is one of the best design of smartphones.

Yes that design is fucking awesome. But i just sell it due to google problem even though i able to install google on it ( still alot lot of bug but mostly notification are delay alot)

@@levidebrabander7033 probably you killed it by chargin phone many times with under 20% battery. Other thing is you might have apps using battery in background. Im sure if you reset it it will have good screen on time

I think there are some battery upgrades in Chinese Taobao, maybe there are also some in Aliexpress. Should try upgrading your battery and it’s good for another one or two years

The same. First of all, I like more square screen. I'd definitely pick up Mate 30 Pro. The only thing piss me off in it is absence of physical buttons. Volume adjustment during the call will be an impossible task.

@@EcnerwalEinwod You must train yourself a lot in order to do it. I tried it once and failed to do it straight away. I couldn't feel the volume button by the tip of my fingers just because there is no volume button there! Why charge something that is not broken, silly Huawei?! Everyone likes clicky buttons!!!

You can buy a new P30 pro 6/128 for just under 480€. Its the best phone you can buy at that price range. P40 pro is trully amazing but 1150€ vs 480€ is a ridiculous price difference. The mi10 pro that costs 1000€ in Europe is an even funnier case though...

Not quite bcs of 5G. I can now literally cancel my sub to fiber internet cos this works like a dream as a hotspot for my pc. Legit 70€ less monthly. Plus it’s better in every other way as well.

Me too, I keep looking for phone worthy of an upgrade, I tried out the galaxy s20 plus & iPhone 11 pro max for a couple days, awesome phones but still doesn't compete with the mate 20X, especially to justify spending another £1000, either technology has slowed down, or the mate 20X was ahead of its time... I'm thinking a bit of both, but as it stands, it looks like I'll be sticking with this for a little longer.

@@tejendradhakal3256 They were on my M30Pro, the only thing I couldn't get to work was using contactless payments on google pay. The actual app worked though. I sold mine and got an iPhone 11 Pro, then a S20. I wish I'd of kept the Mate 30 Pro!

I really wanted the P40 Pro until I actually saw it. Definitely keeping my Mate 30 Pro 5G until the Mate 40. It is such a beast.

P30 Pro is still good for me. Still up there with the new flagship P40 Pro. Unfortunately unless Huawei and Google can come to an arrangement and get Google services on Huawei's new phones, that's a bit of a deal breaker for me. I'll be happy with my P30 Pro for a few years though 👍

I was planning to replace my aging S7 this year, so I kept an eye on all the leaks, read all the reviews and watched all the videos when the 2020 flagships came out, spent ages poring over the specs of the S20 series, the Mi 10 Pro, the Oppo 8 Pro, the LG V60 and others... Ended up buying a P30 Pro instead - it doesn't seem to me that the advancements of 2020 flagships are worth 300-400 extra Euros!

This is exactly what I intend to do I've been waiting for a long time to replace my brilliant S7 and suddenly realised that there exists such a beast like P30 pro. All I need to upgrade, is the camera capabilities. Will it improve significantly after switching to P30 Pro?

I did the exact same thing a few months ago, s7 to the p30 pro. The difference in cameras is night and day. Especially when you view larger versions like on a desktop. The Samsung looks good on its screen, but the 30? Hurts me to say, but it matches and sometimes, especially low light, bests my Sony a6300. It's next level incredible. Months later, still two day battery too.

I have been really very happy with my S7, and it works perfectly to this day, but with the P30 Pro, Huawei has redefined mobile photography in many aspects.

Great review! I am still more than happy with my P20 Pro ... and do love that is has stereo speakers. I don‘t understand why they did downgrade to a mono speaker in the later models of the P - series 🤷🏻♂️

Takes up less space ngl though it's like the vibration motor they made that smaller too becuase people want less vibrations that are more consistent and reliable. Having such a small speaker inside the phone has benefits like rn I'm on my Samsung a21s ik that the speaker is on the near edge of the phone...I watch allot of videos while showering but sometimes it gets blocked by water coming in. Since huaweis new speaker goes though the phone it won't get damaged even if water goes into the phone and its supposed to give a more surround sound with a muffle do that the speaker doesn't reach where it should not be able to e.g if your on a call and someone is trying to overhead cant

Still rocking the P30 Pro, honestly see no reason to upgrade for another 2 years at least. Phone is just as fast as smooth as when I bought it a year ago. Highly recommend it, especially now that you can buy it brand new under $600

Just bought a P30 Pro as an upgrade to my P20 Pro. The trade off in specs seemed like a big enough jump from my old phone to warrant the upgrade. While I'd love a P40, it just didn't seem as big a jump this year as there was with previous generation, so was heard to justify the extra cost. And that's BEFORE you mention the lack of GMS..

Hey Chris, I'm still using my honor view 20, and love it! However, this whole Google thing really has me vexed. I do want to upgrade, but I don't want to deal with the Huawei App Gallery nonsense, way too reliant on Google apps.

As mate 30 pro user here's my thoughts Design (subjective) - Mate 30 pro (P30 pro is over used by many other and p40 pro is well its better but it's like samsung design even m30s use this design) SoC - P40 pro & Mate 30 pro especially if you get the 5g mate version Camera - Main cam - P40 pro - Ultra wide angle - P40 pro & mate 30 pro - Zoom - P40 pro & P30 pro - Video - i bet p40 pro is almost same as mate since P is mostly photo focused (its huge still image upgrade) while mate is more of general upgrade while it's not major its prefecting older P series Display Well almost all same Biometric sensor Fingerprint - all same Face unlock - P40 pro and Mate 30 pro Battery - capacity - mate 30 pro - Charging - all same unless wireless then P40 pro plus>p40 pro & mate 30 pro> p30 pro GMS - P30 PRO win Overall ill wait mate 40 pro since there's slight downgrade in battery and the design is better on mate.... Unless they screw the battery on mate 40 pro oh and rhe SoC should be new when mate hit the market like what they did with mate 20 and mate 30

Latest version vanced root or no root version (rooting is way to much for regular folks) so okay non rooted. Which version ? Arm ? X86 ? What about split apk ? ? @@Roomer645 A lot of people I know don't even use the KZfaq app, they just use the browser version, I personally use KZfaq Vanced on my Note 9, so I'm planning on switching to a P40 Pro since I don't want the Exynos model of the S20. Hopefully AppGallery will be better supported by then or this hopefully this ban will be lifted

I have the Black P30 Pro VOG-L09 Version and I have nothing to complain, it never gets HOT like other smartphones even using for many hours youtube/gaming. I love Huawei

p40 up from p30 pro-prefer smaller size , loved the old p30 pro camera, this one is better apparently ..like the silver frost colour. not missing google services too much , still too early to comment..thx for ur review

Thanks for the video. This pretty much makes my mind up to upgrade from my P20 Pro to the P30 Pro. I can get one SIM free for £500 then get a SIM with 30GB data for £10 per month. The extra features of the P40 Pro do not outweigh the extra cost or the lack of Google services, not by a long way.

Chris, I have Galaxy S10+ but tired of it. Got OnePlus 7 Pro, but too big. For me screen and battery life is important over SOC and camera. What do you recommend? 😀 Hint: No Apple fanboy here 😷

Watching on my Huawei p30 pro. Love this phone. Everyone obsessed over Samsung and apple. Nah... This phone does things better and battery is incredible. I charge my phone every morning for literally less than an hour, before heavy usage. Lasts ALL day until the next day. Mind you, I'm from NY.

The P40 Pro to me just looks like a S10+ and S20+ decided to have a baby. Now the mate 30 pro is definitely not the most practical or is to handle phone. But it's definitely unique with that circular camera and waterfall display.

Great stuff. Watching on my p30 pro and no rush to upgrade. Don't care less about stereo speakers had two Sony stereo phones and watching movies on phones is a bit ridiculous anyway so I use my tablet.

Definitely P40 Pro is the best phone. But the difference in price is huge and lack of Google services I think P30 Pro is currently a great deal if you want a Huawei flagship

The back of the P30 pro is the best, the camera layout in the Mate 30 Pro is the best and the front camera layout(punch hole)is the best. Imo of course

I really really wanted to upgrade to the P40 pro from the P20 but was very disappointed due to no google apps so brought the P30 pro instead. Personally I think my P20 is better than the P30 pro in terms of display. The P20 has a clearer, sharper and much brighter screen, although P30 pro looks nicer, the P20 has a wow display.

The P40 Pro turned out to be a much smaller upgrade over the P30 Pro than anticipated and coupled with a high price tag and no GMS, I don't really see the point in it. I bought a brand new P30 Pro for 410 euros in December during the Christmas sales, might have been one of the best purchases ever.
