Thank you! Taking my battery out worked. Im letting it charge to 100%! It was stuck on 7 and said not charging now it went to 12% and 1hr 15mins until 100%

here's a tip that worked for me. instead of uninstalling the batter drivers, disable them. leave the drivers disabled and your computer unplugged for about 10 minutes. Then plug in your ac adapter and re enable your drivers (in that order) Usually works first try, but sometimes it could be a bit finicky. Edit: it has been two years since I made this post. I am not a tech and have 0 experience being one. I just used Google and found something that worked for me. For this top you do not need to take out your battery. If you are at 0% battery I'm not sure how to help you at that point. I'd recommend taking it to a computer repair store at that point. Best of luck and I hope your computer charges.

You're obviously very knowledgeable but I'd like to leave you with two thoughts. First, I always try another charger first which as a PC tech is not a problem for me because I keep all brands in stock. Secondly (and more prevalent than one might think), check the laptop battery connector fins as sometimes one will get bent just enough to cause the battery not to charge. By the way, I never recommend freezing batteries, but that's just my opinion. Good video though.

I have tried all of these tips and tricks: taking out the battery, doing a hard reset, draining the battery, updating the drivers, disabling the drivers, updating the bios. Sometimes you just have to do a hard reset on your pc and wipe all your apps and files before fixing the problem. This last thing is the only thing that worked for me.

Don't charge to 100% as that shortens your battery's lifetime faster. 95% is the highest you can charge to before it overcharges

@@Sanedits412 If you want your battery to last as long as possible only charge it to 95% and don’t let it drop too far below 20%. I usually try to plug mine in around 15-12% but more importantly you just don’t want to let it hit 1-0%.

He is advising to do a few times for initial battery reconditioning & system to reset, not doing everytime. Because some old battery like nicad has memory issues. Such cycles help to recondition it. Lithium battery usually doesn't has memory issue, but the system battery power detector may measure wrongly as zero to shutdown when the power is still say 15%, or when reaching 60% it says 100% charge and stop charging. In Android there are Apps that does such conditioning of phone battery when system stop measuring battery power correctly resulting in not able fully charge & premature shutdown.

The device manager method worked for me, thanks Edit: It's a week later and the problem is back. On top of that, my laptop will randomly shut down out of nowhere when not plugged in. The tips in this video might be a temporary fix for some, but if your laptop is experiencing these issues it might be an unfortunate sign you need to get a new battery

Lithium battery comes with a tiny protecting circuit to avoid short circuit fire and over discharge. When its voltage falls below a threshold level, eg for cell phone or Torchlight 4.7V battery dropping below 3.1V may trigger the safety circuit to cutoff the battery hence unable to recharge. So to reactivate the dead battery, a higher voltage recharge current is usual applied until the battery charge up to say above 3.7V then the battery turn normal again. For laptop battery it might be different, perhaps the Windows battery driver or BIOS is doing the monitoring job of threshold voltage. That's why disable the battery driver hence its safety feature might allow the battery to recharge again. But you should not over use the old battery until it falls below threshold again. Advisable is to plug in before reaching say below 15%?

Hi! I had the same problem on a HP Probook 4540s. The battery level was 0% showing the message "Plugged in, charging" but not charging at all. I tried all the possible methods found over the internet, but none of them worked for me. When I finally gave up, I let my laptop plugged in over night, with the battery mounted. When I've started the laptop (after 12 hours of hibernation, plugged in), I was surprised to found the battery fully charged! A miracle happened! I've posted this comment just in case someone will find it useful. I don't know whether it will solve your problem, but at least you should give it a try.

A lot of great tips here, but always try another charger before doing anything else. You just might save yourself a lot of trouble and.NEVER put your battery in the freezer. The rest is great advice.

Hp took me through everything but removing the battery and uninstalling the drivers(?) mine does not charge when plugged in and in use. It does charge when closed. 😕

@@lindatepley-kean6191 I had to order a new battery. My laptop is almost always closed and still didn't charge. It's contacted to my tv and I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. Using my computer as my source of entertainment and as a music studio. My favorite setup yet.

My laptop was going to sleep mode every time the battery got very low, i also have a broken battery so my laptop often shuts down especially when I'm playing games. Uninstalling the battery adapters was the solution. THANKSS!!

Hey thanks for the tip. One problem that has happened to me was my battery was not fully put in so it would not charge, I would recommend that you try to push your battery in certain directions and see if that makes a difference. Hope you have a great day!

Omg!!!!!! My laptop is charging. I can’t believe this worked, you are a life saver. I already have an engineer and he said I was going to have to change my laptop’s charging IC, the only reason I haven’t gone ahead is because he said he hasn’t seen one that matches my pc’s but I just tried uninstalling the battery drivers and boom, it starts charging.
