#SCOTUS #SUPREMECOURT Sen. Ted Cruz spent much of his questioning time with Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson discussing critical race theory. Cruz also questioned her on her sentencing of sex offenders.
Several Republicans used their questioning to brand Jackson and Democrats as soft on crime, an emerging theme in GOP midterm election campaigns.

@Angela Bronckhurst There are a ton of factors involved in sentencing, even for sex crimes, that makes up sentencing. Our court system is not always going to put people to the maximum sentence possible. Often prosecutors ask for the maximum, so that the end result is as much time as possible. This lady explained every question he had. That was a private school, and it can teach WTF ever it likes. Just like religious private schools. Board members do not pick the curriculum, and the only time they get involved is if a student's parents demand them to be involved. You need to learn how the world works, and stop listening to a guy who abandoned his state during a statewide emergency.

@@erich6860 The point is that time and time again, she has a history and a pattern of giving leniency to child predators/pedos regardless of their crimes. @Angela Bronckhurst Did you forget that she as a judge goes by the evidence and what the prosecutor recommendations correct? Cruz and other did not give us everything about the case. So you have come to this conclusion without all the facts in this case and every other one they put up there. The GOP got what they wanted from you. A fired up woman who did not get all the fact of each one of those cases. How would you like for the court to give all your buddies in the 1/6/2021 case to be giving jail time without the judge seeing the fact of each case?

All sex offenders? That's a lot of different offenses. We already distinguish between those who produce kiddie porn and those who simply consume it. And does a 17 year old High School student really deserve to be saddled with being on the sex-offender pin map the rest of his life for having sex with his 16 year old girlfriend? People have to look at all the facts in each case, as is required of our judges. They also have to compare the sentences handed down by this judge to those of her peers. I believe it was Senator Booker who pointed out that her "record" was on par with judges around the country. Unless someone can prove otherwise, it's clear she isn't any more lenient than the rest of the judiciary and this argument is over. This is no reason to oppose confirmation. However, if you think the system in general is too lenient, and it may well be, talk to congress.

I believe that if we taught real American history (The Whole Story) in our schools, we wouldn't be having the discussion about CRT. Just put all the facts on the table and let the people decide how they want to deal with that information. Can you imagine our children being able to have these discussions in school? Especially those kids being taught love for all races at home? That just may move the needle.

@ThxGod It'sOver My friend, are you ok? Matthew 24:24 is about false prophets, are you saying Bill Nye is a false prophet? Kinda of a given, since he is an electrical engineer, not an actual scientist, he's a false speaker even without the religious overtones. Israelites aren't African born, they're Hebrew (ethnically Jewish). They came to Egypt from Canaan (now Israel, Lebanon, SW Syria, and West Bank) and returned to it after being freed from Egypt. They are indeed Hebrew, not black, and have had DNA testing to prove it when scientists had your same idea. Did you know those same people who wanted to prove Egyptians are black found out that Egyptians themselves are a unique race of their own, but none are black except for a couple of specific Pharaohs? Yeah, Egyptian is NOT black, once again, DNA proven. And why are you talking about "colonialism" in Africa in the 1800s while referring to the bible when the bible is far older? With the old testament older than Jesus, meaning over 2000 years old. Abraham Lincoln is the, -THE-, president who ended slavery in America. He never owned slaves. People could prove the ownership of slaves in so many ways and have yet to place a single one on him. He believed it was a moral wrong and fought against the very economy of the country, of which slavery was heavily engrained. I am not sure who is telling you these lies, but they are not your friend nor do they have your well-being in mind. Or they are remarkably gullible and need to do proper research. My friend, if you truly consider yourself Christian, I suggest you actually go to church and learn more about it. Reaffirm your standing with the Lord. The human race is God's children, regardless of subgroup or culture. Colossians 1:16, John 3:16, Galatians 3:28. May God bless you, my sibling.

@Sunroom 1708 Ok, let's dissect this. I'm a dope because I point out that the history books in grades k-12 are lacking a lot of history that I didn't learn till college? Oh, and my college professor that was teaching me these things that I didn't learn in k-12, was white. Secondly, from one comment, you assume that I listen to or am influenced by lefty propaganda because my opinion doesn't fit the righty narrative 🤣? Thirdly, who are you all?🤣 I don't know who these people are that hate all white people and want them dead🤣 My children were taught not to judge by the color of skin, but the content of character. "Keep trying it and see what happens?" Sounding real gangster on your fake account there buddy. Sounds like you and whatever group you're with have already been discussing "our' demise and you're just waiting for an opportunity. For me personally, race relations aren't bad at all. Sure, I get the occasional go back to Africa comment and things like that, ( I live in the real South) but when people get to know me, they usually love me. We have all types of uncomfortable conversations, and sometimes we disagree. Do you know what we do when we disagree? We go get our poles and catch some fish, not threaten to kill each other.🤣How do you generalize a comment like "You ALL are villains? Again, I would need to know who "You all" are. Good talk I guess?? 🤣Seems like this is how these type of conversations go on the internet these days.

Personally, I felt that the whole first day of questioning, (and likely the remaining examinations) have been useless in determining her qualifications as a supreme court judge. Republican senators primarily went on rants about her sentencing (or lack there of) of child pornographers and CRT. Democratic senators primarily fawned over her and had simple agreeable conversations with her. Neither side really did anything to properly interview her as a candidate for the supreme court. Very little was done, to determine her judicial philosophy, and when it was broached with her, she did a good job sidestepping it, as most candidates do. It has continually been stated both in the media and within the house about how divided we are politically in this country, yet no one in the house can seem to admit that they are a part of that problem. We have entered "the beatings will continue until morale improves" phase of the decline of an empire.

Senator Cruz thoroughly explained the purpose of his questioning in the beginning of the video. Brief synopsis: Prior to the 1960's the focus was on just the qualifications i.e.. education and experience of the candidates because prior to the 1960's the purpose of the Supreme Court was to be the ultimate authority in interpreting, protecting, and upholding Constitutional law. However, in the 1960' and beyond due to politicians trying to circumvent "We the people" and congress to change laws for their own political agendas. They ended up empowering the Supreme Court to be the ultimate authority and power to pass, deny, or change laws. This is why Democrats heavily attacked Trumps two Supreme Court candidates. Thus, it's essential to examine a candidates sentencing history because it reveals whether the candidates is going to respectfully uphold Constitutional law or not, and whether the candidate ideology is radical or not.

The book is not teaching children they are racist. It is teaching them that racism is something that is taught. It teaches them that someone is not inherently born racist; racism is an ideology someone develops. Just like how children can learn to talk from picking up on the speaking patterns of the people around them; they can pick up on derogatory beliefs. It is not an idea that is hard to grasp, unless you close your eyes and pretend you don't have hands.

Plato's wrong. He missed the obvious: people don't necessarily have the brains to understand the subtle implications of their actions. Good people may not realize that something they're doing (e.g. adding artificial trans fats to food) may have an unintended negative consequence; that's why we write laws for those things. On the other hand, bad people will find a way around laws only if they think they can get away with it and are smart enough to. Fear of the law keeps a lot of would-be bad guys in line. There's a couple of assholes I would have strangled by now if I didn't think it would land me a life sentence. Proof that you can't just take old philosophers' musings at face value.

If someone uses distributed file systems they can end up with Child pornography or other illegal materials on their computer's storage without realizing it. I think this could have been related to what judge Jackson was referring to in that one case where she was talking about technological involvement in CP without having any interest in the practice itself. This is why I don't use torrents or distributed filesystem tech (Freenet, IPFS, etc.) anymore, even though it could otherwise provide a lot of other benefits. The risk is too damn high for peers and node operators on a peer2peer or distributed filesystem network. How do you prove you didn't know what you wete downloading or that its not what you intended? Too few policymakers, regulators and judges understand those technologies. Obviously I'm not defending CP, just saying that people using certain tech can end up in possession without realizing it and so using such tech is dangerous. This is a warning for those who would use those technologies to think more carefully about what you're opening yourself up for.

If a judge is going to consider all aspects of a criminal act, why wouldn't the victim's status when sentencing be considered as it is a law designed to discourage this type of pornography (protecting children). Light sentencing of those who view cold pornography, which is what the defendant was doing. They were not fondling the child but are enjoying the criminal act by viewing them being forced to perform sexual acts for the sole purpose of selling the viewing of such abuse, thereby encouraging the pursuit of producing such material making the viewer a contributing factor. I thought Ted Cruz does a fantastic job. (of grilling her, as he should do) Ketanji Brown KJB also speaks intelligently and she has a way of enunciating every word she speaks. This makes her speaking very clear. This is the type of clear communication (crystal clear communication "CCC") that this country USA needs. People need to talk to each other and understand each other and then we can move forward. We can agree to disagree if needed, on certain areas or topics. But the simple act of communicating is what i like to see. And hoping it is done more, throughout our nation. (to aid getting along with each other, but also to aid in having understanding of one another, as we should learn about our differences, and then try to respect those differences, without any quarrel or war........ You don't have to always attack at the moment you identify a different thought process. Live and let live, should be possible. Of course our laws guide us to act a certain way when it comes to things of necessity, i.e. you must do certain things, even if you feel differently. Communicating is what i advocate, and admire when i see it being done.)

When thinking of child pornography, one that obtains it is showing those that produce it that there are buyers so even if it is for a collector of such pornography it is ensuring that there will be other children used to create this material. Thus, any evidence should also include that the defendant is in fact showing that they want this material and again ensuring that other children will be subjected to this sexual deviant behavior. Maybe instead of collecting child pornography, they should collect something that is legal. If creating child pornography is illegal to create, then obtaining it and having it should also be illegal. If you break a law, then you need to face the consequences of the law. No, pornography is not murder, however, it can cause a lifetime of mental anguish for the child. If someone did murder a person, not in self-defense, rather premeditated, to hide, cover-up, revenge, all would be considered illegal. You would not give that person less time in jail than anyone else that did such a heinous crime. You would maybe give them at least a minimum sentence, however, you would not give them a sentence lower than what the system minimum length stated in the law.

There are many, many cases of people who gain possession of it without their own consent, also. There are websites and archives that when you access them, your computer automatically caches the images or videos. Sometimes, people send others those images also without their consent or knowledge. And indeed, there are people out there who collect and trade all kinds of pornography, unfortuneately including child pornography, and don't have any intention of themselves using it in that way. In my opinion, knowingly collecting it is also incredibly bad. I do think it's logical for leniency in cases where it can be proven those people did not intend to possess it though.
