I still claim the only reason he came to the US was to prove that his knee was better, and get re-signed somewhere in Europe. Maybe I'm bitter? Never got to see him play. While he was there, it was the Galaxy's turn to come out east to Atlanta. He never even boarded the plane because "Zlatan does not play on plastic." Funny aside: engineers/architects here are working on how they're gonna keep real grass alive in a dome for our World Cup matches here.

If you go back and look Jade is cold to Nate whenever Nate tries to impress her or demand things. There first interaction is often confused because it looks like she will not give Nate the window table. If you rewatch that she has to ask Derek. Derek is the one who shoots down giving the table to Nate. She hates working for Derek because he is always fawning over people like Anastasia and Nate when he is a premier league coach. Once Nate acts real with her she opens up.

You might be right, but watched the 1st season multiple times and I never read her as a nice person, she is cold to him from the start and not nice or accommodating, she is a host/ greeter, it’s her job to be nice and she has no time for him. Even if she can not give him the table she should have made an effort to console or make it right. I feel like she was retconned to be a love interest & if not they did a terrible job setting her up as a nice person for Nate to be with.

Danny was lying down because the wall often jumps to try to block the free kick. Free kickers got wise to this and occasionally kicked the ball on the ground, underneath the wall. A defender lies on the ground to prevent this.

@@rickykozak58 That's why I said "damn near impossible", not "impossible". Choosing to jump or not is a gamble the defense has to make, not to mention timing it right and making sure everyone does the same thing. Having a single player lying down behind the wall completely eliminates the option of going under the wall, so it just becomes a chore for the poor guy designated to do it, and it looks ridiculous. Either make a rule against placing a player there or make a rule against shooting under the wall, that would take out the middle-man and save everyone the bother of having to put a player there. Also, there is a risk(albeit a small one) of the player laying down accidentally get a ball to the back of the head.

The Amsterdam episode is one of my favorites! Cultural stuff: houseboat guy - "He's not rude, he's just Dutch". Soccer fan things: "Three Little Birds" is actually the Ajax 'theme song'. IIRC they were playing in the UK, the 'away fans' had to be held in the stadium for some reason, and the PA announcer played the song to keep them entertained. They seized upon it. There's video of Marley's son singing it in their stadium. Which is named after Johan Cruyff, who (as Beard mentioned) helped invent "Total Football". The storytelling element where Ted figures it out on his own *in* Amsterdam nearly brought me to tears. Watched that episode with a mix of soccer and non-soccer fans, my half of the room was talking about how Brendan Hunt *really* knows football.

Such a good episode. there's not been much of a focus on the football a lot of the time in this show, but the introduction of the total football approach felt like it changed that, and like Trent said it isn't a sudden change, it's the philosophy Ted has been unwittingly working towards since day 1! Best thing about this episode was the credits for me though: "God - as herself"

Dr Jacob was probably just *barely* not violating ethics rules because the American Psychological Association prohibits romantic/sexual relationships until 2 years after the end of the therapist-patient relationship. Since Ted's been in the U.K. just 2 years at this point & they seemed to have been in therapy not too long prior to his moving, Dr Jacob probably just squeaked over the 2 year limit. I still personally consider it unethical because he was specifically their marriage counselor- Ted mentioned before that it felt like Michelle and Dr Jacob had already decided things were his fault prior to him even going into a session & I think the viewers at the time were meant to sort of write that off as him feeling overly defensive (normal in that situation) But Dr Jacob dating Michelle puts that interpretation into question because it's entirely possible that Dr Jacob wasn't doing his job properly because he was attracted to Michelle and possibly wanted to see her relationship fail so he might have a chance with her.

A relationship between a marriage counselor and a former client is considered a serious ethical violation. Professional ethical rules are very clear about the need to maintain boundaries even after the therapeutic relationship has ended. The American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA), have guidelines that discourage it and anything sooner than two years after the end of the therapist-patient relationship, would likely result in the therapist's license being revoked.
@reverance_pavane
@reverance_pavane 19 күн бұрын
it actually depends on the individual State board in the US. And the writers did actually check what the situation was, and yes, it was technically allowable in kansas, but considered "extremely inadvisable." in reality it is actually pretty difficult for a medical ethics board to revoke a licence (unless the practitioner has made enemies on the board). Generally the worst that could be expected is a letter of censure. And yes, there is a considerable degree of protectionism involved in the deliberation of most professional ethical bodies. The important word is "guidelines" and not "laws."

@ArthurFrank-ot4or
@ArthurFrank-ot4or 19 күн бұрын
@@reverance_pavane It's not a hard limit where if you wait two years and a day the therapist would not have to be worried about professional repercussions. Less than two years its almost a certainty he would lose his license, even after two years if the licensing organization were made aware of this relationship he would be investigated and still likely face some sanction even if not rising to the level of revocation. Though that would still be a possibility depending on an investigations findings. Licensing organizations in the United States have a wide discretion in deciding ethical matters.

Nate is never sure of who he is or who he really wants to be. He is not even sure of who he is angry at and over what. He is so mistreated by people before Ted arrives that the lesson he learned is that successful and powerful people punch down at those with less power and disregard their existence, which is why he treats Will and Colin badly. He also doesn't get the lesson from Rebecca about finding your power. He instead is always spitting at himself. He's focused on the hate he has for the negative parts of himself and not reinforcing the positive parts of himself. As for Jade, I went back to rewatch the first time, she appears and actually she is very friendly at first and happy to make the reservation. When he asks for the window table, her smile drops and says she has to ask Derek. Incidentally Derek is the name of the manager at the American restaurant in Amsterdam that all the employees are complaining about. Same Derek? Who knows? Every other interaction between Jade and Nate is one where Nate is either trying to show off (friend of Roy), uncertain and flustered. He is never being being direct. Once she sees him being direct to Anastasi, defending this part of his life, being a human, then Jade is willing to connect with him.

Even when Nate was shy, he cared more than anything what others thought of him. How important it was that he got showed his Dad that he merited a window seat. Remember back when he was insulted that Roy didn't find him a threat after kissing Keeley? Or how Ted became the enemy as soon as he didn't completely dote on Nate? Major Daddy issues. Jade' presents a little weird but she uses acting obtuse to deflect behaviour and situations she doesn't feel like dealing with. When Nate finally gets completely human and stops grasping for attention, she likes him. It feels like she singled him out for that cold treatment because she saw him better than most do and saw another Nate in there. There's someone for everyone (foreshadowed by that "your baggage matches right up" Ted comment about Jane and Beard)

Not sure about something as simple as a counselor/therapist, but I believe I read when this came out that psychologist/psychiatrists aren’t supposed to date a patient for 3-5 years after they stop seeing a patient, because they can take advantage of the deep psychological knowledge they have of the patient. The years long delay allows the person to change as a person so that by the time the Dr dates them they are enough of a different person that you aren’t taking advantage of them. At least that is my understanding of it depending on which state you live in the U.S. There are similar rules about a high school teacher dating a former student, they are supposed to stay away to give the former student time to go out and live their own life and find someone on their own. If they decide years later they want to date a former teacher, at least they lived some life on their own for a few years.

This season did have a few missteps - notably the Keeley storyline. But it’s still Ted Lasso and it still has the heart .

The Amsterdam espisode is so good. I love how they gave Trent Crimm of the Independant more depth. The guy was laying down to block any shot on the ground since the wall often jumps. A sneaky way to score is to shoot low when they all jump. So one player will lay on the ground to block low shots. Re: 1:09:00 a teammate not supporting him the reality is the hypermasculine world of men's team sports openly gay players have been few and far between so lack of acceptance and public ridicule is a natural fear.

Goals from the midfield, farther and even in open play (not a free kick) are not the rule but they are not uncommon by any means either, there have been goals scored by the opponent golie from end to end.
