Rocker and 2nd Amendment advocate Ted Nugent isn't one to shy from making shocking comments about President and the federal government. Recent comments about Obama earned him a visit from the Secret Service. Nugent, who now has a ranch in Texas, talks about the Secret Service visit, his conversation with Mitt Romney and more.

Incorrect. A survey released by princeton revealed that crime DOUBLED in a 10 year span when strict gun laws were enacted in Mexico. Today the crime rate is around 800% higher than when there were no gun laws in Mexico.

I really don’t know what to think of this guy. He’s definitely knowledgeable on the subject. I never really cared for his music style but I agree with some of his rhetoric but most of it is common sense. The Government is to damn big! I feel Ted may not see the Americans that I do. I will die for my flag, my love of Country and I am afraid I would have to in other people’s idea of America.

rcman123- you left out the most important text-that which explains how the security of a free state is reliant on a well regulated militia. Being that, you know....during the Revolutionary War we had STANDING ARMY, and that our voluntary, minuteman, guerilla tactic using militia pretty much turned the war to our favor when those words were penned, it seems obvious the founders understood that a civilian militia, free from governmental influence, was "necessary for the SECURITY of a FREE STATE".

Some people can look at an apple and believe they're seeing an orange if the right person tells them it's an orange. And then they hate you and me because we still see an apple. Even Elvis served his country. But I guess Nugent thinks he's better than Elvis? I disagree. Elvis was no coward. Thanks for comin by and saying something positive. Not too many people like it when you beat up on their heroes.

What about the law abiding gun owners in NY, NJ, etc? They are all denied CCWs simply because they are not cops. Requiring a CCW for bullets would leave ALL of those law abiding citizens with empty barrels. It sounds reasonable at first, but once it's applied nationally, things would only get worse.

This gun argument is personal. I'm not interested in engaging a burglar and his helpers in hand-to-hand combat at 3 A.M. in my dining room. I didn't seek them out. I haven't climbed through their jimmied window. They chose me. I'd rather not shoot them as blood is even worse than grass stains to remove from fabric, curtains, carpet, etc. I'll trade my guns tomorrow for viable “Star Trek”-grade phasers. I'd be content to use the stun setting on the burglars.

WIKIPEDIA: The Haditha killings (also called the Haditha incident or the Haditha massacre) refers to the incident where 24 Iraqi men, women and children were killed by a group of United States Marines on November 19, 2005 in Haditha, a city in the western Iraq province of Al Anbar. At least 15 of those killed were civilians. It has been alleged that the killings were retribution for the attack on a convoy of Marines with an improvised explosive device that killed Lance Corporal Miguel Terrazas

The ccw or a federal license. The big problem is people with mental problems getting licensed. A way to correct this somewhat would be a requirement that the applicant present several signed references from upstanding people that have known the person for over a year and can attest that to the best of their knowledge that person is of sound mind.

I have disgust for those (not thinking of anyone in particular) who use ideology to excuse dodging the draft. Someone who claims that they were RIGHT to dodge the draft because they didn't believe in the war. Nugent isn't proud of what he did. He says he was a dumb kid (17-18) who lacked the knowledge and wisdom to make the right decision. I don't respect people for draft dodging, but I respect the truth. I was a dumb kid, too. Now, look at all he's done since then...

Guns are the means by which a free society defends its freedoms, against all forces that may want to rob said freedoms. Whether it's a foreign power or a tyrannical government. Countries with more gun laws are not only more defenseless, they're more dangerous. Look up England's gun crime rate then look up Switzerland's gun crime rate, along with their laws.

The intellectual simplicity of men like Ted really comes through at the 2:35 mark, when he concludes that had Rick Perry been elected, his problems "would be over." Such a dualistic understanding of our rich, complex country and its politics is primitive to say the least.
