Where does OK Go come up with ideas like dancing in zero gravity, performing in ultra slow motion or constructing a warehouse-sized Rube Goldberg machine for their music videos? In between live performances of "This Too Shall Pass" and "The One Moment," lead singer and director Damian Kulash takes us inside the band's creative process, showing us how to look for wonder and surprise.
The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). Look for talks on Technology, Entertainment and Design -- plus science, business, global issues, the arts and more.

Indeed - how they did their talk is how they do the videos: this one step more than necessary for purely functional reasons. So instead of showing the videos, they play the soundtrack live in front of an audience, which is the most classic one-take one can imagine.

And there's always a component of SURPRISE to wonder. So we're not just looking for good ideas; we're looking for ideas that surprises us in some way." 9:18 "The chance of getting all 130 things to not fail at the same time, is .9 (for 90%) to the 130th power. So calculate that out and you get .000001 (...) so your chance for success is literally one in a million." 11:10 "So what we do is we try to identify some place where there might just be a ton of those untried ideas. We try to find a sandbox and then we gamble a whole bunch of our resources on getting in that sandbox and playing." 12:05 "This may seem to you like testing, but it really isn't because at this point we don't yet know what our idea is. (...) We're just playing."
