Retired Navy SEAL Jason Redman gives an AMAZING talk on how to get though hard times. Jason suffered a catastrophic failure as a leader, came back to redeem himself, only to be shot eight times by an enemy machine gun in Iraq, including a round to the face. Despite the incredible adversity and four year recovery, Jason launched from his crisis by posting a bright orange sign on his hospital door that became a national emblem of resilience. Jason went on to become a New York Times best selling author of The Trident and just released his new book Overcome which provided the basis for this Ted Talk. Jason blends lessons learned from his military special operations career and subsequent work with wounded warriors and civilian traumatic incidents. He then breaks them down into a five step process to help you REACT and overcome any life hardship. This talk will inspire you to move forward from any crisis and lead others to follow you. Most importantly this talk will show you the path how to get through hard times. Jason Redman is a retired Navy Lieutenant who spent eleven years as an enlisted Navy SEAL and almost ten years as a SEAL officer.
After being severely wounded in Iraq in 2007, Redman returned to active duty before retiring in 2013. In 2013 he launched SOF Spoken LLC, a speaking and consulting company which focuses on inspirational presentations on leadership, teamwork and the “Overcome Mindset” helping individuals, companies and teams to “GET OFF THE X” ™ from “Life Ambushes. Redman additionally provides, workshops, online programs, executive coaching and business consulting to businesses around the world and group coaching through his “Get off the X Training and Overcome Army™ group coaching programs. He is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir The Trident and Overcome. He lives with his family in Virginia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I read his book and he openly admits to being a poor SEAL who wanted to do things his own way and not in a team way . He was almost thrown out . Instead he was sent to Ranger school as a way for him to regain his focus and become a team person . Ranger school is pretty damn hard , but he did it and came out and understood his mistakes . He then became a very brave and honored SEAL .

As I watch this, I can help but shed tears. I'm going through something that I didn't expect. The year 2022 really knocked me and it knocked me hard. I lost my job at which I hadn't been paid for the last three months I worked there. I immediately got another job offer, but I'm an expatriate living in a foreign country. There was a problem with my passport so I had to travel back home to get a new passport so that I could apply for a work permit. When I got the Passport and came back, I was told my job offer had been rescinded. I owed 3 months rent where I was staying. I had to vacate the apartment, my girlfriend and 5 month old baby had to travel to her mother's house out of time. I'm temporarily living with a friend but I don't like the living conditions. Sometimes I cry when I'm alone. I'm not getting any calls for job interviews. I am clueless on what I'm going to do. I feel like I just have bad luck. When I was working, I couldn't even afford to pay for a post grad.

I hope I will get through my tough times man, it's very very hard. I'm lost and I'm alone, I'm afraid, i don't know what will happen, I have become weak but I will fight man, these are the new beginnings. Thank you for igniting that fire, that hope, thanks!
