It happened while the teen was standing across the street from where he lived on Marcus Garvey Boulevard just before 6 p.m. Monday. Anthony Carlo has the details.

Some kids don't have a choice. The United States failed to protect them for the worst of the worse. Sometimes kids don't notice the gravity of situations until it too late. The main stream media and companies that profit from violence need to be held accountable in my opinion. We have to get serious about what's being put in front of our kids.

As a kid who lived a double life this is 1000% true . I was 16 15 17 I told my mom I was inna gym playing ball . I was really in a staircase getting high hanging wit the wrong crowd. Only by the grace of the most high I made it home each and every day.

Your lack of fear for death is out of ignorance, remember that. Death negates your life, and what comes "after", if anything, is uncertain. The best thing is to continue living indefinitely, and with the rise of AI, the world is set to change into one where aging and death due to disease is uncommon or doesnt exist anymore. You dont want to miss it

Then how do you explain Leandro Guzman-Feliz and others Papa? Many kids have been killed going to the bodega and walking home from school or playing outside with friends. Happens all the time in the barrios. Only someone from the ghetto would understand.

Why don't people in this community organize community patrol groups and patrol the streets on the regular? The police force isn't present, so maybe the community should show up for itself? Back in the early 2000s, Chinatown in Boston had major crime issues, and they organized these community patrols with uniforms and everything, and they worked in conjunction with the police. It WORKED really well, crime dropped, people felt safer, and businesses thrived again. These communities are useless and lazy, and constantly say, "it needs to stop, it needs to stop." Well, maybe stop creating messed up FERAL CHILDREN who run around the streets all day and all night, and start taking ACTION. I'm so sick of the lack of action from these people.

When crime were down there were few community patrols in NYC, even if they had one they had few members. The difference back then was law enforcement were able to do their jobs and they did it well.

My family knew the young man that passed away, grew up with his family and this is just so heartbreaking for all of us. This kid did not deserve it.He was great in school.🙏

I disagree with comments saying he wasn't a "regular kid." Sometimes you don't want anything to do with what the irregular kids are doing and they target you. Nonstop. People looking from the outside in can't understand this and that's why a lot of the horrific things are happening in NYC and around the United States. There is a disconnect from reality that I think people are too scared to confront because it requires hard choices. If Anthony Carlo new what was happening in NYC, he wouldn't be standing there completely apathetic.

I think in several months New Yorkers will think of the beginning of the summer of '23 as the old peaceful times. Although for many residents crime in the city is skyrocketing now.

Our leadership HAS to stop modelling behavior that reinforces the misconception that feelings of anger justify acts of violence against those blamed for the perpetrator's feelings. We are supposed to learn as children that we are always accountable for our actions, and should learn by adulthood that others don't "make" us feel things (our entire life up to that point has more effect on our feelings). Victim blaming is something abusers do, and is neither supported by law nor morality. Any child can throw a tantrum, behaving honorably is what tests strength of character.
