It's normal for HER. The NOT expecting something in return is apparently the catcher. "Why can't IIII get a scholarship for doing 'it like that?". Too busy "hating", or thinking about self/ EXPECTING SOMETHING IN RETURN...quid pro quo? Stop; proof that a lot of people would not have helped him but grudginglyy (probably would have blogged about it; exposing the guy in a negative light, SOOO he knew better to ask HER and not some "why can't I get a scholarship..."?... complaining about a person who did IN FACT help...worry/coveting about THEIR reward for yourself.

The act didn’t go viral because the world is so bad it went viral because SOMEONE ACTUALLY NOTICED. We live such busy lives we don’t notice the simple acts of kindness around us. She didn’t think of how busy the restaurant was (and how the other customers might yell at her for taking too long or tip her less) she just helped she deserves it.
@kfleming78

no - it went VIRAL because people think it's RARE for blacks to be nice people, they are running these same kind of public relations campaigns for blacks across american cities.

Doreen, if the world were a kinder, gentler place, this would not have registered on most people's radar as anything exceptional. I think you're right though, someone had to notice enough to take the picture, but the fact that it went viral shows that people are longing to experience more kindness and connection in their worlds.

It's sad, but it's true. Many people will not act kindly simply because theres no benefit. Even for waiters and waitresses, who may not even get a tip regardless of how kind they were because customers are just that cheap. To put things into perspective, consider this. How many people would be willing to return a lost wallet full of money and IDs? You'd probably get a lot of people say they would, but when life hits you with the scenario many people will back down and do what is best for themselves.

Somebody happened to see her doing what she would normally do and decided to reward her. I don’t look to be rewarded either so I’m not bothered by her being rewarded. If I did look for something in return then it wouldn’t be from my heart and I’d be upset that somebody else got rewarded and I didn’t. Education is expensive. It'd be nice if the government introduced a program where you were indebted to them in work hours depending on how much you payed for college. Then after you graduate and start earning a minimum of £26,575 a year the money starts coming off your paycheck, and not in ridiculous amounts. It's an investment in your future. It's also written off after 30 years after you start re-paying it so don't have to worry about it in your older age if you haven't fully re-paid it.

Happy for her but like everyone's saying in the comments, to be hugely awarded for an act of kindness isn't a great sign for society because that implies that we're really lacking in doing good things for others. Another thing that saddens me is how distant people or strangers are to each other nowadays, my parents always tell me how people treated each other differently back in the day. People used to treat each other almost like family and would be there for each other, doing kind things for each other, not all the time but much more common. There are many reasons for that, like how social media distances people away from each other in real life, or how gradually increasing crime rates drive fear towards each other. I wish the best for our world!!

xSongbird92x it’s odd because it’s not you, it could never be you because you don’t care about small acts of kindness, there are so many good people out there, yet very few are rewarded. I like seeing things like this

@@fablewalls so you're saying that if someone was to ask a waitress to cut their meat, most would say no? That's simply not true. Most people are good people, and I'm tired of this charade where everyone in tne comments is so dramatic saying stuff like "omg this is so rare nowadays". Idk where you live but I see acts of kindness all the time.

What a sad country that someone doing their job and a minor kind act gets rewarded like this. We should all act like this to each other and our elderly

No one would have cared if a white person did it. Never would have made the news. This is an example of Black privelege. You do ordinary things, you get extraordinary rewards... simply because you're Black.
