Not only do I hate copper, but I have it out in a very country route, so the peds are hard to find and when you do find them they’re a complete mess!

That's really terrible when you're trying to find a ped, and then when you finally find the ped, you're trying to locate it, but you can't locate it because it's all screwed up inside and you have to deal with field mice. I feel for your brother!

I bury fiber and am required to locate our existing facilities and private lines customers may have.

If you install the fiber, then that's really good; you know exactly where it's at, and it will never get hit. Is this your own company?

Sometimes two peds close together like that are where new cable was spliced in to fix damage. Got one like that up the street because Verizon's contractors hit the cable while running conduit for FIOS.

You're probably right... The phone probably did get hit at one time, but the problem is it's not even on the print. That is what makes this job frustrating. I don't have time to try to figure this out when I have five different contractors that want to bore this week.

I think the ground rod you're asking about in this video is actually a probe that I'm using, and it has a handle on it.

Yup I've done 2km of gas and electric to get to the little bit of telecom copper on the corner that takes me 3x as long as the gas and hydro for 2km did

I just did a job where all the phone in this complex turned out to be private and I was not made aware of this until after I had already finished with all the other private stuff. Now I got a mark this entire complexes phone system for this fiber overbuild project. Worst part about it is not one bit of it is bonded or grounded in any way. There are no grounding knots or studs on the cable at all. All I can do is clip onto the armor and hope it runs and it runs like shit.

I would have been pissed off knowing that I had to locate all those phone lines at that complex. Use the alligator clips and hot-pair each cable. amzn.to/3QV019e
