My mom is the opposite. She doesn’t tell anyone my secrets, but she tells me everyone else’s secret. “Pero no le digas a nadie, mija porque tu tia me lo dijo y no quiere que nadie mas sepa” lmao! And if I ever point out “pero tu me dices a mi” and she says “no, madre, es que tu eres mija. Tu no cuentas” 😂😂😂

I think the period thing is cross cultural. I'm african american. I begged my mom to not tell anyone, she was like ok. I got it on a friday night. Saturday morning she called everyone in my family and we went over to my grandma's house to celebrate. I wanted to crawl into a hole, especially when my grandpa asked me how I was feeling. LOL.

I’m white and this happened to me. My family was standing in the hall when I came out of the bathroom and my dad came home from work and hugs me and asks if I’m feeling ok. I think it’s just the way life is.

@@mve6304 My grandma made me my favorite food and cake, my aunt got me a heating pad, my mom got me pads and "period panties". All the women talked to be about not worrying, how to handle pain, and that it was just a part of life. The men just gave me concerned hugs, lol. Looking back on it, it was amazing even if I was embarrassed.

I'm African American as well and i can relate so much bruh😂 i started mine the summer before 5th grade started so like i was already scared and embarrassed so i said "mom, keep it on the low low" then 30 seconds later my step dad comes in my room sits on my bed and gives me "the talk" but it wasn't that bad he kepy it appropriate for my age ig. I was so mad at my mom tho😂

The day i got into college me and my mom were so excited and she was like don’t tell anyone yet. But later that day I went to my friends house and came back late at night. When I got home my parents’s friends were over and when I went to greet them they each congratulated me and I was like HUH?? and then I was like OOHH thank you. When I first got my period it was during school and at the time I had a really old phone (this was back in like 2011-2012) and the only reason I had a phone was because I’m an only child and my mom wanted to know where I was 24/7 so I’d even bring my phone to school. Next thing you know I hit my mom up while she’s at work, telling her I got my period and she started crying over the phone telling me I’m a woman now. Few years later, she tells me she told her ENTIRE work place that I got my period. It was mad embarrassing when I started working there-
