I’ve been using 4 star Ultimate Paint Protection for 20 years. It’s a liquid. You first prep the car with a chemical cleaner of your choice. Then you put the product on the entire vehicle, wait an hour, then dust off. I’ve had it keep beading for at least 6 months.

Good video mate i was surprised by some of the brands and how well they did, looks like im adding a few to my must try list.

Another interesting watch. I love my detailing but not sure I could do that type of testing. I was surprised at the Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection. That was one of the products I progressed to after I started with a bucket & sponge as my Dad did. I still have a bottle but I have not used it for many years. After starting to use this type of product I have gone full circle and am back to waxes as I have discovered Mitchell and King waxes and as they are on my doorstep and the owner John is so helpful. I also enjoy our chats about the world of detailing when I make a purchase and he answers any questions I have. I know now that I will never go back to those products on my own cars but if I was pushed for time they have their place for cars I detail for others.

Interesting review, I personally would use any one of them as I tend to lay a protective product down on every wash. Plus top podcast this week. Was great to listen to what Pan had to say.

Enjoyed the video Specky. Was keen to see the GT 3 as I've just bought most of the range. Car currently wearing Sigma V2 and QD. Keeping CS for when I've machined the car ready for its winter protection. Will need to keep an eye out for you around as I'm just in Dyce.

Excellent comparison and clearly a lot of effort put in to it. My favourite was unfortunately not put to the test: Menzerna Power Lock. There's an upgraded version under the Jescar brand (USA) called Ultra Lock Plus. Looking forward to that as I was very impressed with the original, both in performance and cost.

great useful video mate, looking forward to Round/Part II -- you could add one of a few TW products, IW Express Sealant or Turbo 6, AM Hybrid Sealant, Angel Wax Ti-22, GT Sigma, and Bouncers Bead Juice (maybe a Meg's product too) -- all i can think of just now & happy to lend you them for testing. Have tested some GT products of late and they are fantastic, Sigma covering the rear of the Outback just now. 👍

Great video specky I've always used Auto Glym Rapid Ceramic Detailer and the O D K Solo after watching your interesting video decided to try G3 Pro Surface Sealant wow that stuff is just insane I'm not to fussed about longevity as i do lots of motorway driving so i wash my car every week think the G3 Pro is my go to for now lol don't think my shelves can take any more sealants or QD' S 🤣🤣😏😏 keep up the good work big man 👍👌

Hi Specky, I do like your videos, cheers for what you do. I have the TW spray on sealant, and a black VW, I personally find it a tough product due to streaking, thinking of replacing it. I'm not as interested in longevity, I can make time to use one more often, so with that, which was the easiest to use and buff off? Thanks, all the best.

Hiya Specky, couldn't wait for this after you mentioned it on the latest podcast. Just a couple of minor points: 1, no lab coat🤷🤷, this was a shoot out and right up your street 😂😂. 2, you have mentioned this many times before but there are many factors to how quickly your lsp will degrade and using decon on freshly laid out protection will take some degrading. I can't believe that I still own a bottle of Autoglym egp, I've even got a bottle of their high definition protection (the one with the Black label). As always though a fantastic review of 10 products, please keep them coming as I know how hard you work to produce great content 👏👏👏

I have been using Three CS for a while, but for me the surprise was AG EGP. I have not used that for about 10 years, yet it held it own very well in the test. One thing you did not touch on was visual gloss levels. Did you find any of the products provided a higher level of gloss compared to others?

Hi there great video. I wonder what do you think of gt 85 ptfe as a sealant? It must be the cheapest thing arround for £4.45 a 400ml bottle but I find it does a great job of repelling water on my hole bike...

Recently picked up the carplan for £4.99 put in on my daughters 12yr old Kia as didn't want to use my "good stuff" if I'm honest was very impressed washed it today and dirt fell off, won't leave it 12 months but happy man

Would you spray onto a microfibre when doing the whole panel or is this just to avoid cross contamination

I'd say carplan super gloss was the true winner given price and ease of use

Can you use it on top of a wax? Wash, clay bar, polish, and a wax, seal?

The autoglym ceramic one I put on the start of winter and it’s still on my car , I’ve hammered it with auto foam 5% pir from day one , tfr, and even a strip wash shampoo and it’s still on there , I can’t get rid of it as I need to so I can polish it ASAP , I actually don’t know what to do to get rid of it

CarPlan SuperGloss No. 1 is a great product and those who think it doesn’t last or wouldn’t last, why? I’ve said for years that it’s a great sealant, when used properly, and I’ve had it last 5 months, right through the ‘Beast from the East’ - remember that?! Brand snobbery is a terrible thing. Try things for yourself, use things properly and don’t rely on here-say or prejudice when judging products. It could be the best one is the one you won’t give a chance to!

Engaging my boring fart mode: FWIW I bought a bottle of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection in the 1980's and it's sat on a shelf ever since then. I did however ask Autoglym about it's shelf life in 2010 This was the reply (largely just common sense really): AG products are not issued with a use before or best before date. The only advisory is with trade Fabric Stain Remover and retail Fabric Hood Cleaner and Active Stain Remover which state: For best results, use within twelve months of purchase. This is due to the bio active content (read: dirt eating bugs) of the formula. Aside from this it is down to common sense really. Would you expect a 20 year old tin of paint to be in a good condition? Answer: maybe. Open it up and have a look, the product may have split due to it being stored way beyond its expected shelf life and 'used-up-by' life or it may still be useable. When polishes and dressings are created, emulsions are usually formed, and it is this element of the product that will fail if anything, and when that is gone no amount of shaking will restore it. Detergents are usually going to be ok; there isn't a lot in them that is going to go wrong when it comes to storage. The only thing to add is that once you open a container and start to use the contents, the preservatives have to work harder as there is more air space to preserve. An unopened container may have a set % of air at the top, and as this increases as air is allowed into the container, more naturally occurring yeasts etc get into the container. This is why a 25L container of shampoo for a guy that washes 2 cars a week may not be the best container size for him. So what is a reasonable time for a product to be 'out in the wild'? Well, provided people buy pack sizes suited to their usage rate, 2 to 3 years? We know that our products can be made on Monday and easily be on the shelves in Halfords a week later. With that in mind I think a two year use up time is easily achievable. Similarly for your trade user, they are going to be getting through product a lot faster, which is why they buy in 5L and up as they will easily use this in a short period. This is not to say 'Autoglym products have a 2 year shelf life', as stated at the top, none of our products come with a shelf life, it is all down to considering how long you've had the product in the garage, have you stored it correctly according to any 'avoid freezing' instructions and what is it, a polish or an interior detergent.

Just goes to show how over looked Auto Glym sometimes is! That EGP held out very well
