▶【Synopsis】Set during the Ming Dynasty, the story revolves around the romance between General Xu Lingyi and the concubine's daughter Shiyiniang that starts from an arranged marriage. Despite being born with a low status, Luo Shiyiniang is extremely assertive and believes that a woman's vision should not be limited to the household. She hopes to rely on her embroidery skills as a ticket to freedom. However, the once esteemed Luo family is in a state of decline. Hoping to save the clan through a marriage alliance, Shiyiniang is selected to become the wife of Yongping Duke and great general Xu Lingyi. Things were not easy for Shiyiniang due to the Xu family's biases towards her. Nonetheless, she manages to win over their trust through her optimism and sincerity. Xu Lingyi also becomes attracted to Shiyiniang's various beautiful qualities such that husband and wife manage to find love after marriage.

Lady Erniang though, trying to scheme her way out of the marriage can't wait to see how she gets thwarted in her scheme in the next episode. But boy am i glad i wasn't born in this era where a woman's worth was as a tool to further the families status in society.

Later in the series you find out that there was actually a plot to poison the first wife and that was why she was so sick.

This series follow a fiction and tbh the first wife is the worst nightmare shiyi has. She chose shiyi because she was 12 which is easy to control+ can’t give off offsprings and her mother colluded to force shiyi into drinking harmful medicine to ruin her body from any chance of pregnancy. Shiyi nearly died from giving birth to her child later. This is how it is in the fiction.

Yeah that's one of the light I never understood is why do they give this if this older son all these concubines yet bines get the younger 1 hes not forced to take any responsibility and responsibility and he isn't it's Int forced to take on any concubines in order to help the family I just don't understand why the mom forces the 2nd to the oldest because the oldest brother died while she forces him to take on all these concubines and everything. What's funny to me is how the main mother or whatever you want to call her how she's so mean to the main girl and her mom and the mom even lost her baby yeaher baby yet she's gonna have to rely on her to take care of her grandson and she solves the mystery of how her the daughter died the only thing I didn't get is was a sister pregnant when the main girl's mom was pregnant

The first wife is a force. None of them, the Marquis, Great Madam, concubines can hold a candle when she holds the stick/power... All of the others seemed wary/scared of her. She knows the power struggle. Too bad she was ill, if not, she would always have had the power. I don't know if she's always been that way or cuz she had nothing to lose since she was dying but from the sound of it, she was always a schemer. Watched this drama before but only now appreciate the force of the first wife.. She's a schemer who knew how to use her authority... Shiyi, while smart, is more of a defender rather than a schemer... Shiyi will use her head only when forced to. Only real scheming I saw from her is when she wants to make the Marquis play nice with his family.e's the only one I've seen who all of them wer

I just love the sound of our main female lead's voice! Although its a lower pitch to what I usually be hearing in other c-dramas, I actually love it! Her voice is so soft and melodic to listen to. I kind of prefer this over those high pitchy dubbed tones (thank god they allowed her to dubb her own voice in this series). LOL! Tang Song Yun is so BEAUTIFUL in this drama and her character is so smart! Although I love Wallace Chung, and he is so freaking handsome in this drama, I don't know why but I keep picturing Ren Jialun in this drama hahahaha!!! Every time Tang Song Yun pops up I feel like Lu Yi (Ren Jialun) is going to turn the corner and they're going to bump into each other HAHAHA! I'm still not over "Under the Power" c-drama, LOL!

It's very normal for Historical Dramas to be dubbed. I usually prefer Historical Dramas with dubbers and Modern Dramas with the actors' real voices. But it is definitely refreshing when you get to hear their real voices in Historicals. I actually liked the voice dubber selected for Tan Song Yun in Under the Power. If you didn't know how she actually sounded, it could have passed for her real voice. :)

Qiao Lianfang was already a scheming troublemaker with her conniving little ways of inserting herself in the most inappropriate ways, being cousins is no excuse to behave in such inappropriate way before being caught in a compromising position. She would've done something inexcusable at some point. Luo Yunniang merely exposed Qiao Lianfang's true colours & put her between a rock/hard place.

I really like that in this drama there is no crazy or brainless female characters. And it's interesting to see a story, the leading male has wives and kids already. I know there are girls don't like this setting, but to me, it's better than those brainless 'fairy tales'.

yeah it does remind me of Minglan but tbh the Minglan drama paid a lot more attention to the social etiquette of the time - you would never see Minglan being alone with another man like the lead is here, how shocking 🤣 *fake horror*

When folks go out their way to manipulate and plot to marry someone, just to live a miserable life after. Spend most of their time trying to force the person to like them of fall in love with them, yet they are so mean and evil. They deserve hell when the force someone to marry them that doesn't love or like. Hope he doesn't have to marry that manipulating girl, because his children will catch hell, even all his other women.

不是啊，自古都是有钱男人多妻。没钱的男人多了去了，怕是娶不到妻子的。如果10 个男人配10个女人，8个都跟了最有钱的3 个，那剩下的7个男人都没有妻子了。一夫多妻也等于很多男人没有妻子。

具我医學的上課在自然學世界是一亇男人5亇女人天然律，也是創造學的目的。中國也只有老古板才是多妻。我的父親有三亇老婆。我的公公有五亇。第二次世界大戰很多夫妻分開是不得以。
