Morale of the story, keep your dog on a leash!!! The world does not revolve around you... rules apply to you too... keep your dog on a leash. Good for the state of Tn to be preemptive in protecting our rights.

Take the dog to a dog park if you want to let it off leash. Otherwise, leash laws are there to protect that animal from harm - especially from other people and vehicles! Hands down completely uncaring and negligent dog owner. Shame on him 🤬

Nashville government website now has a press release from the Nashville police on this incident, dated yesterday. From what the dog's owner told police, the dog was 20 feet from the owner when it spotted a squirrel and "took off". The owner pushed the button to activate the dog's shock collar, but the dog did not respond to the shock collar. This apparently put the man that shot the dog in the dog's path, and he shot the dog when it got within 3 feet of him. He told police he thought the dog was attacking him. Sounds like this incident proves that the park rules on use of a leash aren't wrong. A shock collar is not a leash and cannot be depended on to be as effective as a leash.

KEEP YOUR DOGS LEASHED! A dog park is different from a people park. That needs to be established first. I personally had a young German Shepard off a leash run at me aggressively in my driveway after parking my motorcycle. I didn’t know this young dog and if it wasn’t for the owners running up to grab it seconds later I would have shot that dog. I’m a firm believer that every owner of a large dog should have it properly trained or leashed. Do not let your untrained or unmanageable dog run free.

So I have a service dog. We take him off leash to task. I wonder if this law would still take place for my dog?? ❤ (we only u leash to task because we are scared they will hurt our boy) 😢 This is sad… I don’t think this is reasonable… defense has to align with the issue… :( My dog is worth more then 5 grand 😭 he’s literally priceless he does stroke alert for my handicap hubby! The law is perfectly fine. The owner is at fault, & only them. The leash law is there for a reason. Point blank period. If you don’t like the laws then move.

Maybe the shooting was justified by the legally permitted gun holder who's life or safety was threatened by the unleashed rogue dog.
