Today we are trying out a brand new restaurant in Alcona, Ontario Canada called Tenoch Authentic Mexican Food and grill. This was an awesome suggestion from ‪@bigdogbulldog9912‬ thank you very much for asking me to do this. I had Carne Asada, Dorados and Pollo A La Plancha.
Once I arrived the weather cleared up and I started my crazy food adventure at Waffle House.

It's not about being uncultured! Some places in the world haven't been as exposed to certain cultural foods. Also if you're from Mexico doesn't mean you all cook food the same. In Mexico there's states within the country and guess what?? They all may cook the "same" meal differently. Changing up the recipe of their ancestors and or if there's any cross over. I'll tell you my mother is from a town in Mexico and she does not know how to make tamales. Her youngest sister moved to a different state and she learned how to make them. Come on now!!! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Many Mexican dishes come with tortillas and it is meant to put the food in. Corn and flour tortillas both have their applications. The green stuff is salsa verde made from tomatillos and peppers, typically a bit of heat and tangy. The red sauce is salsa roja which has more variations. Usually the type that comes with tacos can be pretty spicy. Those rolled fried things at the end, we call taquitos. We eat a lot of tacos, tamales, sopes, menudo, and pozole around my area. Many Mexican women cook and sell out of their houses, especially tamales, and it is so freaking good.

salad is Ensalada, Salsa Roja - red salsa , chile verde salsa- green salsa,.. when eating carne asada, you can eat it like a taco or use the tortilla to pick up the food .. looks like calabacita- Mexican squash in the asada .. Dorados is a pan fried Taco, that looks more like a taquito is with filling rolled in a corn tortilla then fried or flauta is flour tortilla rolled with the filling and fried..

The rolled tortillas are called taquitos in California flautas in Texas , chicken flautas are my go to at the local Mexican restaurant. They serve them with guac, sour cream and rice and refries. Sometimes after a day at work that meal plus tortilla chips, salsa and a cold beer soothes like a warm blanket. You know when the Mexican restaurant you go to has a lot of hispanic people eating there the food is good. Maybe not completely authentic Mexican but good nonetheless 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮

Almost all Mexican food combos come with beans and rice. The rice tends to be a little dry and the beans tend to be a little runny, so I mix them together. And the tortillas included are usually used to make a taco with the meat and whatever else you have and like; beans, rice, avacado, etc!!

My favorite, if I am eating inside establishment, is a big mound of sizzling fajitas straight from the grill on a hot cast iron pan. The strips of steak with onion, tomato green pepper etc. are stil frying when it gets tableside. Noting like it!

Here in So. Cal., I've always called them taquitos. When I google'd it, taquitos are the same as flautas, which are dorados. I can buy them frozen at the grocery store in packs of 20-40 or we have a local chain that just sells taquitos called Rollemup. they have about 6 So. Cal. locations and are expanding to AZ, Vegas and Utah. Typically we eat them with avocado sauce. Oh and the carne asada you did right with the last few bites. Make a taco out of them loaded with all the veggies, frijoles, cheese, and salsa. Lucky for me, I can drive over to the authentic Hispanic market and get the chicken and/or beef to make pollo asado or carne asada! I grill it outside on my propane stove and bulgogi plate.

Scroll down more on the search page: Flautas are made by rolling a filling inside a larger tortilla, while taquitos are made with smaller tortillas. I have never ordered one and gotten the other. Don't most Mexican restaurants have both of them on the menu?

Yeah, Flautas use a larger tortilla. I use both for tacos, burritos, or taquitos. Really just whatever I have on hand. Like Jim Gaffigan says, they're all the same (meat cheese or vegetables).@@SmittyAZ

I really enjoyed this video! You may be unfamiliar with Mexican food, but you had a good intuitive sense of how to approach eating it. Mixing flavors up is a good strategy. For example, cutting some asada slices to make your own soft tacos, mixing in salsa, rice, beans and cheese is the way to go. And usually, if I want a forkful of rice, I’ll scoop up some beans first and eat them together on the same fork. Their pollo la plancha was like none I’ve eaten. La plancha isn’t just cut up tomatoes. La plancha is a sauce made from sautéing tomatoes, onions, peppers and seasoning together. For me, it goes best with fish.

Hey Ken, that looks delicious. Looks like a good Mexican restaurant, and Carne asada tacos are yummy. I put everything in my taco. Green sauce is called salsa verde, and red sauce is called salsa roja. I love the breakfast, Huevos Rancheros. Great video. Keep it up.

your instincts of making the taco with the steak, beans and rice were definitely the way to go! i didn't think the salad had any dressing and i was yelling at my compy for you to use the salsa. i'm glad that the salad had dressing already. i was hoping that the cucumbers on the steak were jalapenos, but whatever. chicken looks well cooked and fyi plancha is a flat top grill-no grates. still watching, can't wait to see what the heck dorados is. oh, those are flautas or rolled tacos. rolled tacos are a specialty of a certain restaurant in El Paso TX and they come smothered in the red sauce with cheddar. i just watched that video the other day. the restaurant is chico's tacos and marcy inspired on youtube has a good video. good job ken, more mexican restaurants or cooking with paul!

I went there a couple weeks ago. This place is beautiful, the staff were so friendly. I ordered the fajitas. It was great value and I had so much left over that I brought home to my family. Great job. I’ll definitely be back. I felt like I was in Mexico. Just needed the mariachi band

Durandos are also called toquitos. No matter what they are called, they are still really good. Wow, awesome Mexican feast, Ken! Good thing you are taking food home to share. Hope you, Carol and the fam are good! 😃😎
