my older brother introduced me to animal crossing back in the wild world days with it being a Christmas present, i then proceeded to save pocket money to get new leaf and now ive recently bought the switch with the sole purpose of playing nh, crazy how much this game has come graphics/customisation wise, ill see you all on the 20th

If you are wondering where to get the cliff permit and waterfall permit you have to go to the nook stop and you can redeem your nook miles for waterfall permit and cliff permit for 2,000 nook miles each

Im pretty sure you can display custom tiles on the ground in the original GameCube version too. I didn't know that tho till I played again years later. I just never tried when I was a kid.
