When working for the Texas Department of Corrections I had the pleasure of meeting Tully Blanchard. As a borne again Christian he toured many prisons and preached the word. He was very humble and friendly. He was kind enough to give me an autographed bible.

@@stevep4574 ...Yeah, he was. First time I met him was in Beeville, Tx. A little country town supported by state penitentiarys and oil riggers. In 1997 he and his ministry was in town for a few days preaching at the various prisons. My sargeant asked one of the guys in the ministry if we could meet him. To make a long story short, after our shift we met him at the hotel they were staying at. He really didn't like us mentioning his days in wrestling. He was uncomfortable about that part of his life. Other than that was pretty cool. Gave us an autographed bible and said our good byes. Fast forward about 12 years and ran into him again at another unit at Edingurg, Tx. This time another bud of mine and I ran into him outside the parking lot of the unit. This time he was much cooler and receptive of us being in awe of him. He told us Ric Flair lives the life we see or saw on tv. Wahoo McDaniel was his toughest opponent he ever faced. He spoke of the moments in his life that changed everything. And allowed us to take a few pix with him on our phones. He was really down to Earth. Laughed with us. Joked. A real cool guy.

@@joeyrincones9308 Thanks for the story, I think it's great how people can change their lives for the better since he was obviously going through some tough times. Tully was always one of my favorite wrestlers, and I think it's great he's preaching God's good word!

Pleasure knowing how much Tully's life has come full circle to the better these days.Ironically I remember those matches with Wahoo in Houston and how much I hated him, especially when he was fighting Dusty Rhodes, who was one of my favorites, you couldn't deny his talent for drawing heat and keeping it hot.God bless him.
