I also liked the later part of the 50's songs to. Jerry Butlers song For Your Love, can really put ice in your veins. That's why they call him, THE ICE MAN! The 1962 song, Make It Easy On Yourself kicks some butt out there to, and who could ever forget the song Let It Be Me by Jerry Butler and Betty Everett, blow the doors off you when you listen to that great 60's sounded music to, and I can think of a lot other 60's music that's really timeless to.

lynnkirton...I love to know, from your comments of 2 years ago, of your just coming to know Terry and his beautiful voice from this clip. I am a fan but also a dear friend from when I knew him back in 1973 when he recorded for Atlantic Records in Nashville, where I worked. He was just as sweet and humble as he was in this clip. I adored him and was heart broken when he died tho I didnt know for years. If you want to hear some of my favorite songs of Terry's that you can find on utube, look for Amarillo By Morning which someone else mentioned, he recorded it on his only LP released for Atlantic and it later, in 1991 I think, became a huge hit for George Strait which I'm glad Terry lived to see. Also an old Merle Haggard song Shelly's Winter Love is from the same album. There is also a song called Texas Moon Palace which is both a video of him at age 44 or so, performing it live at a club in Arizona and also a record on a little known label Player Records. It is one of his most poetic and beautiful songs with a wonderful melody which showcases his range. My other favorite that is so beautiful and is near and dear to my heart is called We've Grown Close. It was recorded in 1974 but just prior to being released, Atlantic New York shut down our small country division much to our heartbreak, including Terry's. The song was somehow included in a compilation of some of his songs from the 60's, tho it was from this later 70's era of his career when he looked like the consummate Texas "cowboy" he was. The pictures of him on the Atlantic LP were exactly what he looked like in '73 and '74 when he sang We've Grown Close. If you can, listen thru Bluetooth earbuds/headphones as the sound of his voice is so evocative and beautiful when directly in your ear. I think if you just do a search on say "We've Grown Close" by Terry Stafford you will find it on a channel from an Elmarr Neumann (or similar). Hope you find them, I love expanding his fan base even posthumously when he's no longer here to know it. RIP sweet Terry... I will see you on the other side.

Sandy Yuen You love his music. I just found a lot of background on Terry. The instrumentation on his music was with Bob Summers, brother-in-law of the pioneer new guitar. Thus Terry had these big connections in the music world. Reason that his first two recordings hit the charts. Les Paul & Bob Summers were married to two sister of a singing trio that sang Christian music.____ Pace sisters. Thus although Terry appears out of nowhere, to singing success, there were a lot of other people in his life.

Nationally "Suspicion" rose from number 7 to number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated 4 April 1964, when the chart's top five hits were all by the Beatles. "Suspicion" broke the Beatles' monopoly on the top five spots on the chart by rising to #3, its peak position, the next week!

Reminds me when I was little it always came on the radio. Back then my Mom and Aunts had the radio on all day while we played outside having fun with our cousins. Sure miss those days.🙏🏼❤️

TERRY STAFFORD PULLED AN ELVIS PRESLEY!! I'm a huge Elvis fan, and I know Elvis covered a lot of songs. Now, Terry went and covered an Elvis song... and quite well, I might add!! Rest In Peace to 2 music Legends!!

Stafford wrote the song and preformed it first.

Every time you kiss me I'm still not certain that you love me, Every time you hold me I'm still not certain that you care Though you keep on saying you really, really, really love me Do you speak the same words to someone else when I'm not there. Suspicion torments my heart, Suspicion keeps us apart, Suspicion why torture me. Every time you call me and tell me we should meet tomorrow I can't help but think that you're meeting someone else tonight, Why should our romance just keep on causing me such sorrow? Why am I so doubtful whenever you're out of sight? Suspicion torments my heart, Suspicion keeps us apart, Suspicion why torture me. Darling, if you love me, I beg you wait a little longer, Wait until I drive all these foolish fears out of my mind, How I hope and pray that our love will keep on growing stronger, Maybe I'm suspicious 'cause true love is so hard to find. Suspicion torments my heart, Suspicion keeps us apart, Suspicion why torture me.

Terry Stafford was one of my father’s friends and running crew at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. He has told me about when Terry got on a bus to LA after graduating high school to further his career. Terry borrowed shoes from my father, and a sport coat and tie from other friends. My father never got his shoes back lol.
