Looked at several EV's, including the Tesla Model 3 and the I-Pace and ended up buying the I-Pace in November 2019. Now, after 15K miles and zero problems, I am still extremely happy with the car. Build quality is superb, much, much better than any Tesla I have seen to date. Have had no issues. Car is very quick (like any premium EV), comfortable and quiet. The I-Pace can actually charge at 100 kWh, not 85, but in real life, you will not see that peak-charging speed for very long. BTW, the same goes for ANY EV, including the Tesla's. As for range, I have no trouble at all getting around 280 miles of range with my I-Pace when the weather is good (> 16 degrees Celsius). During the winter, that dropped to about 215 miles. Negative points on the I-Pace are the slower infortainment system and the 1-phase charging point. For me it has NEVER been a problem. Before buying the I-Pace, I tested one for a week to see if it would fit my life-style and usage so I knew it would be not problem. But for others, it might be. The updated 2020 I-Pace luckily has both problems fixed. One point to remember is that if you are looking at the I-Pace, DO NOT GET the 22" wheels if range is important to you. Those wheels alone cost you 30 miles in range. I have no idea why, but every I-Pace tested on KZfaq seems to be always fitted with the largest and heaviest wheels which do the range of the car no good at all.

Thanks so much for your write-up! This kind of owner insight is stuff we have a hard time providing with limited time with each vehicle. Congrats on driving electric and we hope you continue to enjoy your I-Pace for many years to come - it is a fabulous EV.

@@currentautomotive430 Thank you for the compliment. Did a long review on the I-Pace on a car magazine website, but unfortunately, it is in Dutch. Here is the link if you would like it: www.autoweek.nl/reviews/artikel/jaguar-i-pace-ev400-business-edition-s-2019-2/ Keep up the good work testing EV's. The more the better. I do agree that having a car for only a limited time makes an in-depth review difficult.

What was the I-Pace on road cost if you don’t mind me asking?
@mvm1162
@mvm1162 3 жыл бұрын
@@wattleboughOf course I don't mind. The I-Pace I got is a specific Business Edition, only sold AFAIK in my country (Netherlands). I has features of both the S and SE models and was put into the market to align with your local BIK rules. Total cost of the car was 77K Euro's.

@@mvm1162 Hey mate, thanks for sharing your experiences, really appreciated, especially when I'm looking in the market. For the wheel thing, I did mechanical engineering for uni, although not working in the industry anymore, I think it is probably due to "moment of inertia". So basically when you have two wheels of the same weight, say one is 22'' and one is 18''. The 22'' one has its weight further spread out from its center, which leads to a larger moment of inertia. And when you have a larger moment of inertia, it basically means more resistance to rotate, or rotates slower under the same force (torque). I'm not sure if you watched figure skating before, when the athletes want to rotate faster, they retrieve their arms to body which reduces moment of inertia and they will rotate faster. Hopefully it helps. Btw what kind of winter temperature you are getting in Netherlands? I'm thinking to get one in Beijing where the winter temperatures are like -5 to 5 normally, wondering how much mileage I would loss. Thanks!

It can perhaps be easily summarised as: The Tesla is great tech with some car, whereas The I-Pace is great car with some tech. It all depends on what you need out of the car. If you need wowwy tech and range, Tesla it is. If you want build quality, luxury and driving dynamic, the I-Pace it is... Nothing wrong with picking one over the other depending on what's important for you. After all, you wouldn't use your 2-door sports car to bring a refrigerator home, would you?

Driving dynamics are subjective, and I do not believe the i-Pace is at all superior to the MY...at least with regard to performance. Probably more floaty to drive around town, however.

@Farhad Alerasoul : You don't have to watch many KZfaq reviews on these cars to realise that their owners are having passionate love affairs with them. Most owners will concede that the opposition may have some part that is better than theirs, but they ain't about to swap camps! Now, if only Jaguar could drop their price, update their mechanicals to equal Tesla, and join Ford in gaining access to Tesla's Supercharger network, things would be much closer! 😜

Well Tesla is a company that came into existence with the sole purpose of making battery driven cars and thus they had all the IP's in place to start with, so it is expected to have top class mileage and tech to start with for a Tesla but the built quality lacks as usual as they don't have the experience. On the other hand people need to give due credits to Jaguar rather than bashing them. Jaguar was a old school niche brand but to come up with a fresh all electric vehicle before any of the German or Japanese rivals...you need to give kudos to the Jaguar team!! Yes, the Jaguar range could have been better, yes the charging speed could have been better, yes the tech could have been better but hey it is still a damn good car to drive. When you drive or when it is parked it turns head, and also you have a smile driving this perky car. Some people do enjoy that along with the luxury it provides being a luxury brand. With the new models the Jaguar I-Pace already has two major changes coming with a new Pivi Pro infotainment system and a 11 kW three-phase on-board charger (instead 7 kW single-phase previously). I believe the second generation Jaguar I-Pace will be a huge improvement from the 1st generation.

The I Pace for me, I have driven a Model 3 and the Jaguar, but not the Y. I am a bit biased being British, but Jaguar is no longer a British company. JLR have a bad reputation for reliability, but like Tesla with their poor build quality, customers are queuing up for them.
@EL8888

I think I Pace most likely would not have reliability issues because it runs on battery and motors, so much simpler comparing to traditional cars, and the parts such as engine, gearbox etc which are big factors for reliability issues are removed. I reckon what Tesla really did well is marketing and the image of Musk .

Leaky windshield look at the lot rot 2018-2019 Discos those have great windshield that would flood the car in the rain. Not to mention they mount the IMC and audio amp in the floor so when you go of road they are the first to soak up all the puddles lmao

Jaguar ipace is death trap. Do not fall into trap by just looking at it. It has been six months I bought 8-10 weeks it has been in the dealership. 3 times nearly escaped death (stops in the middle of the no where). Won't move in car wash. Problems you name it this car has it.

Tesla are starting to loose market share and it’s simple when auto markers learn to do over the air updates they will catch up with Tesla software and Tesla will not be able to get the same build quality end of. It’s all about timing and the other car companies are catching fast and then Tesla will be the normal over priced car of the past. You can’t have 10 years of software beat over 100 years of car building time will tell and we will see in the long run way the customer puts their money. Tesla have done great things and will push the main players to their limits but experience will beat high tech as what is high tech today is old hat tomorrow but quality will always out perform in the long run.

Tesla is so far ahead in this game. Besides the driving, performance and battery technology, it has the benefit of 10 yrs worth Of AI data they’ve been collecting to actualize FDS etc. it’s like Apple’s iPhone coming out first and everyone else taking quit a few yrs to catch up. Either way, competition always favors the consumer

I have Jaguar ipace 2022. It's a piece of garbage. I named it death trap. In 6 months I escaped death 4 times. Jaguar is not concerned about it. Service is zero level. If we have cars and dealer like jaguar. Trust me jaguar will not be in business in near future. Beware this car stops abruptly in the middle of nowhere 🤔. Jaguar says they're is no problem. Seriously.
