It’s been an extremely busy year for Tesla with the release of the brand new highland Model 3 refresh along with all the price changes and of course the biggest of all: the upcoming official first deliveries of the Cybertruck which I did spend 30,000 of my Tesla credits to attend so be sure to subscribe to see my recap video of that event. First of all, my wife hates the look of it, but also because I don’t really need it or really have the room for it since I only have a 2-car garage. I’d have to kick my poor Model 3 out on the street - literally. But my garage is actually why I’m making today’s video. A couple months ago I did a video about the myQ Connected Garage for Tesla and why it’s the best smart garage opener for Tesla owners. The purpose of myQ is to turn your garage into a smart garage where you can have seamless control of your garage door from anywhere, and there are two ways to do this with myQ: The 1st method is to use a newer garage door opener that has all myQ smart features already built into it. Don’t get me wrong; going from an old-school clunky garage door clicker that only works in close proximity and has to be clipped on the visor at all times to something like the myQ app where I can open and close the door from anywhere using my phone and being able to see when the door was opened and by whom, yes, that is a really nice upgrade. But with the Tesla myQ integration in the car itself it makes it so much more convenient because it automates all of that for me so I don’t even have to touch my phone or remember to open or close the garage. Since my wife and I each have a Tesla and they stay in our garage side by side, a lot of the time I have to make sure my sideview mirrors don’t hit anything when backing into my garage, but with the myQ connected garage it has an option to auto-fold mirrors which is really nice if your garage is a tight fit. You also get the same control of your garage that the myQ mobile app provides but from a more easily accessible location of the Tesla touch screen so you can open and close the garage door no matter where you are as long as the vehicle has an Internet connection One of the best benefits for me is that a single myQ subscription works with multiple Tesla vehicles & multiple garages so with my wife’s Model Y & my Model 3 it’s almost like getting 2 for 1. After considering all the features & benefits it has and seeing how many times I open and close my garage door, a 10 year plan to add that level of functionality & convenience.

Had for a while now and it’s works maybe 70-80% of the time. There are always connection errors and delays in opening and closing. I’ve left home thinking the garage door was closed but wasn’t. I still carry the old clicker for these reasons. Not sure if I’d keep after my 1 year is up.

Mine can be a bit spotty too. It's really useful when it works. Just not 100% reliable.

The app on my phone works 100% of the time. The two times that I tried the 1 month trial in the car; It failed to work properly. The garage would open fine from the inside the garage, but as soon as the car would transfer from WIFI to LTE which is what happens when you leave your house. FAIL. Now the app on the other hand transfers just fine between the two. Coming home worked 80% of the time to open the door. Truly an abysmal failure. The phone app is free to use, I always have my phone to drive. The tesla version cost a fee to use, added frustration and insecurities that required me to open the phone app to double check.

Subscription for a garage door opener?!?! NO THANK YOU! I have a myQ garage door controller and it works maybe 30% of the time if I am lucky. It frequently confuses whether the door is opened or closed and worse even prevents me from using the app to open the garage door if the system thinks it isn’t working.

It’s one or the other you either pay for the homelink module no subscription or pay monthly for myq give in mind if cellular sucks in your area myq will not work in car homelink is best option

Can't believe it's been 4 years since they announced the Cybertruck and I can't believe Tesla still hasn't released the Roadster. While I want a Cybertruck I doubt I will keep my reservation because I just won't pay $10,000 more than what Elon said the initial prices were going to be. That extra price point increases the taxes, DMV fees and insurance premium on the vehicle. Plus we all know the first model year of any vehicle is riddled with issues. You said we could get the myQ for almost free even if we cancel after the free trial. Well, yeah we get to keep the HUB but without the subscription the hardware is useless. And I'm so tired of subscription based services, it just drains my wallet as it's an endless money pit for them. Add up all the subscriptions most households have and it's becomes a lot.
