In Part 2 of our Tesla Las Vegas road trip we encounter major wind conditions that throws a curveball to our plans. Huge battery range loss, more Supercharger stops, and a software percentage bug that makes things uncertain. We do get to see a Porsche Taycan though, pretty cool.

Great video, thanks for sharing! We do twice annual trips from Northern CA to Las Vegas. Taking into account wind was something I never thought about (new to EVs, our MYP arrives in 2 days! 🤞🏼) Loved the quick Porsche side bar at Baker by the way! 😂

Thank you! I also have a Model Y Performance and with the longer range it's not as big of a deal. Also, a software update soon should automatically factor this in on the NAV screen. Enjoy your Y, they are incredible!

I love Tesla's NAV. Plus I love the planning and replanning of EV road trips. Keeps them fun. I also love the 15-30 minute stops every 2-3 hours. Refreshing.

great tips. i'm a new owner and plan to drive from LA to Vegas next month. This was very helpful to know to expect the unexpected (winds that is)

Thank you. Keep in mind my Model 3 only has about 210 miles of range. Newer models, likely yours, has much more, making this even easier. LA to Vegas is a piece of cake. Enjoy. If you have kids, or like sweets, stop at the Yermo Supercharger.

Enjoyed this. Same thing happens couple weeks ago. Nav routed me to an earlier station because I would have been in the negative.

Why not just charge up more at the primm charger instead of stopping again in baker?

Charging the top end of the battery takes forever. Much better to live in the 5%-65% portion of the battery for faster charging. This was a very unusual situation with heavy winds. I had to adapt. Thanks for watching
