Tesla Semi UPDATE 2025: No More 48V? Details 9 Huge Tech Changes That You Never Seen Before. (MIX)
Hey everyone, and welcome back! Today, we're diving deep into the world of electric trucks, specifically the Tesla Semi. While it's not yet a common sight on the roads, Tesla has ambitious plans for production in 2024. Let's see where things stand.
Current Status
Right now, Tesla Semi is still in the pilot production phase, with about 136 prototypes on the road, mostly in Tesla's own fleet and a few with PepsiCo. This cautious approach allows Tesla to gather data and ensure the Semi's durability before mass production.
The Challenge of Speeding Up
Elon Musk previously announced a target of 50,000 Tesla Semis rolling off the production line in 2024. That's a big goal, and Tesla faces some hurdles:
Giga Nevada Expansion: The main production facility, Giga Nevada, is undergoing a significant expansion. Meeting the ambitious production target hinges on completing this expansion by September 2024.
Tesla's Strategy for Reaching the Target
Despite the challenges, Tesla is taking steps to reach its goal:
Factory Expansion: As mentioned, Giga Nevada's expansion is crucial. Tesla has a history of rapid construction, so completion by September 2024 is a possibility.
Recruitment Drive: Tesla is actively recruiting for Semi production positions, indicating a commitment to scaling up production.
Looking Ahead to 2025 Semis
While the 2024 target might be ambitious, there's promise for the future:
Tech Upgrades: The 2025 Semi is expected to adopt a 48v low-voltage system from the Cybertruck, improving performance and weight reduction.
Battery Boost: Tesla plans to transition from 2170 batteries to the more advanced 4680 batteries for extended range.
Charging Infrastructure: To address charging concerns, Tesla will build Mega-charger stations along key routes.
Environmental Impact
The Tesla Semi isn't just about innovation; it's about sustainability. Class 8 trucks contribute significantly to emissions. Increased electric truck adoption can make a real difference.
The Tesla Semi represents a significant shift towards electric transportation. While there are challenges in reaching the 2024 production target, Tesla's commitment to innovation and the environmental benefits are undeniable.

Tesla is starting to put 400 kilowatt charging stations in. You can charge a semi in 30 minutes. So some of these comments on here. Do not know what they are talking about.

minute 3:20 ABS? Is it not standard in US trucks? In europe you can´t find a car without.

This video is incredibly overinflated and lacks substance relative to its runtime. Out of the 35+ minute duration, there are perhaps only 5-10 minutes of actually relevant details pertaining to the advertised topic of 2025 Tesla Semi updates and new tech changes. The rest is padded by discussing general semi truck features that aren't specific to Tesla, as well as excessive repetition of the few relevant points. The title promises "9 Huge Tech Changes That You Never Seen Before," but the content fails to deliver anything that groundbreaking or new. It's mostly common knowledge stretched out unsuccessfully. Statements like "let's delve into the details" come 9 minutes in, and then each minor point is dragged on with redundant information we've already heard. While a bit of background is okay, this video takes it to an extreme, feeling more like an attempt to hit a target runtime rather than concisely covering the subject matter. There's very little here that lives up to the enticing title. This excessive padding and lack of truth in advertising does a disservice to viewers and could hurt the channel's credibility over time if this approach continues. Viewers come for substantive, focused content - not fluff pieces that waste their time. Providing concise, accurate information matching the promised topic is important for building an engaged audience.

Thanks for this thoughtful feedback. If you want a video that go straight to the point, I suggest watching out short video (less than 10 mins). The video that have around 30 mins runtime is mostly the compilation of our short video, and sometimes, it just feel dragging

How does it do on Icy slopes? I think you only mentioned it about 100 times so I wasn’t sure
@adamtech999
@adamtech999 2 ай бұрын
I know that Semi can handle the ice slopes, but the real reason behind that is yet to unveil by Tesla nor Elon Musk. Maybe good tire, and even locking diff that can prevent that.

I did not get past the mention of four motors the semi only has three if they got that wrong why go further.
@adamtech999
@adamtech999 2 ай бұрын
Rivian did this before with their Quad motor R1T. By implementing 4 motors system, it eliminate a the need for locking differential, and help the car smoothly move through pothholes. If Semi got it too, that'll be great.

This is great. Very, very nice. But, there's only one thing that needs to be improved, range. Take that short and shitty range noted in any EV and increase it. Do this, now we're talkin!! This would now7 be the perfect semi. With 500 miles of range, the semi dosent go very far compared to the 1,500 to 2.500 miles of range offered by standard semi trucks. No time to be sitting around like you do with electric cars. When it comes to trucking the same rule applies, Time is money and money is time. Atleast there are more shops that fixes standard trucks. But if that electric motor breaks, it will cost you twice the money and that is if you can find a shop that works on them.
@adamtech999
@adamtech999 2 ай бұрын
That's why Tesla is only selling their truck for big brand, because they got enough infrastructure for fixing the Semi in case any break happen. 500 miles of range is enough for one-way journey between 2 Pepsico plant, hence they are the first to get it.
@adamtech999
@adamtech999 2 ай бұрын
We hear you on range. Tesla is constantly innovating battery technology, and future iterations of the Semi might offer extended range. However, the 500-mile range is ideal for many regional hauling routes, reducing emissions and dependence on diesel.

@@adamtech999 My dad drives truck coast to coast. He said if i only had 500 miles of range and then had to pull over and sit, i wouldn't get anywhere. I like to have the ability to keep moving. His freight liner has a range of 1,800 miles....

Most trucking fits the range. For long distance how about diesel generator range extender like a diesel electric locomotive. Called REV. Edison trucks class 8 uses this tech.

@@adamtech999 That's Pepsi! Im talking about all the truckers that do nothing but move freight from one end of the country to the other. East coast cities to west coast cities and all destinations in between. Sorry but 500 miles of range? You godda step that up.....

Problem is due to charging it’s completely useless. It takes a $2M mega pack for every 3 mega chargers. No truck stop is spending millions of dollars for charging stations so no long haul trucking. Any trucking company located in an area with a legacy grid will not be able to pull enough electricity to have more than a couple of trucks. It’s useless
@adamtech999
@adamtech999 2 ай бұрын
Unless Tesla has built enough charging infrastructure for Semi, long-haul Semi won't come true. As of now, they should focus on short-haul Semi first, which has 300 miles range.

@@adamtech999 You don’t grasp that most trucking companies are located in areas where they cannot change the grid. Did you not see the EV expert testimony in front of congress? A tucking company in Chicago wanted to buy just 30 Tesla semis, they went to the city about the grid……the city just basically laughed in their face and said no….it would melt the whole grid. Just 10 trucks is the same electricity usage as a small cities downtown uses….its not happening.

This line of thinking is reminiscent of naysayers whenever new technology emerges. The same doubts were raised about gasoline fueling infrastructure, unleaded gasoline adoption, and countless other innovations before they became widespread. The fact is, where there is demand, infrastructure follows. If hauling companies can genuinely save money operating large electric semis due to cheaper fuel costs, lower maintenance requirements, better driving conditions (reducing health costs and absenteeism), safer vehicles (lower insurance premiums), etc., then the industry will shift as quickly as profits justify it. Businesses are driven by profitability. If truckers start gravitating toward locations with charging stations, bypassing areas without them, cities and companies will quickly deploy chargers to capture that traffic and revenue. Just as major fuel stations invested in costly CNG pumps infrastructure to draw a given subset of customers. When change brings financial upside, the market adapts accordingly. If the Tesla Semi truly delivers on its promised cost-saving and operational advantages, the supporting charging infrastructure will emerge to meet demand. Dismissing it as "useless" underestimates the power of financial incentives to drive adoption when economically viable.

@@sgfx Absolutely clueless. We went from horses to cars….gasoline was shipped and stored in inexpensive containers. There was no transportation other than horses so no alternative. Today we have vehicles on the road that do everything needed. The Tesla semi does nothing functionally different. Truck stops make their money selling things inside the store…they already have 100% of the market. Installing 15 mega chargers would cost close to $15 million…..why would they do this? If there is no charging at truck stops then no trucking company is buying the semi. Fanboys think truck stops actually care if a trucking company saves money…they don’t so will not spend millions at each of 40,000 truck stops in North America ….all they care about is profits……profits that will be lost installing mega chargers. Everything U said is complete anti capitalism. Grow up.
