Chrome sockets crack all the time, that's why they sell the black "impact" sockets. I've had MANY break over the years.

That's a lock nut to keep it from backing out, and if you leave the nut on, you can tap the end of the axle, and the nut will help repair damaged threads when you back it off. Love seeing you turn this into a business.

Great car as I use to have one. Interesting thing is I found out after years of ownership is check behind the driver and passenger seats. There is a large plastic strut mount cover. Hidden in those areas were factory headlight adjustment devices and a tool set. You should check to see if that car has any.

Nice to see another video. Only is it better to not take the cv-joint out of the bearing and then put the wheels on. It could damage the bearing through the weight of the car on the loose bearing's. When the cv-joint is in the bearing it clamps it down.

Jeremy, It's nice to see you have work. Word of advice and I understand you are not rolling the car around. Just be careful about not having the CV joints in. The torque of the nut and the CJ in place helps to preload the bearings. Without the CV joint in place it could cause an issue to the bearings over time. (It could - not saying it will.) All the Best, Tony

Hey, just so you know you need to put those axles back in or at least the outer CV joints back into the bearing that’s what helps to hold the bearing together. You can damage the wheel, bearing with the weight of the car without the actual, squeezing it all together.

Nissan interchanged a lot of parts in the 90’s. Tons of similar parts on various models. For instance….. if you need some more room in the diff area, you can use axles from a 240SX. That will get you an inch of room on each side. The bolt pattern is different on a USDM 240, but the stubs are plentiful or you could use JDM axles which are the same 5 bolt flange as the Z32 chassis 300ZX.

One of my friends had the twin turbo version of the 300ZX. It's a nice car, but the knock on Nissan is they tended to make some porkers at the time, so hopefully, some weight reduction is in order. Otherwise, you could be looking at an EV conversion pushing well past 4,000 lbs.

I've had decent luck with penetrating oil, but sometimes the bolts are just too compromised to remove without snapping off the head. I haven't cracked a socket before, either, but tools aren't made like they used to be. I remember when Craftsman had full lifetime warranties on all their tools.
