Classic Car Addict is excited to present this 1988 Jeep Wrangler with 69,401 miles for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. This is a two owner Jeep (dad purchased it in 1988 and then sold it to his son in 2010). The Wrangler (YJ) replaced the long-lived CJ Series. It had a wider track, angled grille, rectangular headlamps, and a modernized interior. All this made it a very “civilized” Jeep Wrangler. The older the Jeep (ex: YJ, TJ, and LJ), the harder it is to find an automatic, but they do exist, and we have one!
Regardless of its styling differences, the YJ was like any other Jeep, a utilitarian vehicle used by folks such as us for off-road adventure. The early YJs were powered by a 2.5L inline-four AMC 150 CID or optional 4.2L inline-six AMC 258 CID (this one is your 4.2L inline-six 258). The YJ in stock form is a great vehicle for wheeling mild trails and a good platform for building an even more capable Jeep. Hardcore four-wheeling will require extensive modifications to the axles, suspension, engine, transmission, and transfer case. This one is also rust free!
This Jeep features gray vinyl interior, which is still in great condition. The carpet is in original condition, could be redone, but if you plan on going off roading, this is ready to go! The rear cabin did not offer great legroom for the passengers, mostly because the right front seat was not adjustable. Entering the back seats was easy with the foldable front seats. The back seats also folded if more cargo room was needed. Dash is original with all original gauges that are fully functioning; has an upgraded Sony CD player with AUX. 4WD engages and functions.
The Jeep received a respray within the last month. Overall, the Jeep's condition is in excellent shape! It does have the fully removable hard top, so if you want to enjoy the fresh breeze and some sun, just remove top and drive!
