Keeping a trainer around is always a good idea. Sometimes, a low stress plane is such a good thing. Actually, some trainers were even decent sport planes. The Hobbico Avistar and Hobbistar were trainers you could enjoy long after your primary training was done, and the Midwest Aerostar could go beyond as well if you preferred to actually build. This is where good plain bearing engines were great. No fear of rusty ball bearings if it sat for a bit.

I grew up on glo fuel model airplanes for 45 years. I also still fly on 72 mhz radio's. Keep up the good work. I love you guys.

Beautiful flying and great weather to enjoy our hobby. This plane will be something with a Saito on it. As long as there is enough oil in the fuel to lubricate the shafts it will be great. Have a nice weekend!

A Ripmax Trainer plus OS 40 was my first RC plane.....foam wing version. Back then we used to make our own elestic bands from old car innertubes....and of course we used to use quite a few to hold the wing down. Great days!

Right. You've got to hold the rubbers in place, or there'll be an accident, those rubbers can BITE bigtime. This Kyosho derived engine is impressive, to pull this big old faithful Petrincic Bros Engine Testplane across the sky like that. I was just saying, 1.5m Mustang or similar would be a perfect home for an engine like this, and don't worry, I KNOW I said that PERFECT! Big salute, and looking forward to seeing the Saito AND Enya on the front end of this. We're getting used to this plane as an engine test, so big big salute from London! ⭐⭐👍

Some days ago I had my first flight with a nitro plane after many years with elektro planes. A trainer with a OS max 40. Love the stinkyness and loudy nitros so much! 😄

what a joy to hear this glow engine runs like swiss watch plenty power and nicely lubricated at the same time blaz , i have electro planes and few balsa with glow and you just cant beat the nitro planes there just magnificent nice flying the with beautiful sun as the backdrop perfect pilot Robert Salute to you both 🙂

Ah the memories .. and the realization that I haven't been flying for 5 years now. Those Kyosho 40 engines were quite good if I remember correctly? Better than the usual chinese ones?

That's a huge prop size for a 40 engine... Os40 uses a 10x6

I am using Bioethanol fuel in my Trainer 40. It needs 1/3 of the fuel (300 ml i think - Standard Tank from the kit) after 10 min flight 😀 Engine is the OS Max 46. Prop 11x6. Fuel Tycoon with 16% Nitro and 11% oil.
