This is a review of the Honda HS720. I just bought it the week before this video was made and wanted to give my initial impression of it. I used an HS520 and that was a great unit but got the itch once I became aware of the HS720.
You'll have to forgive the quality of the video due to running the camera (iPhone 6) and the snow blower with one hand each. Overall, I'd say it was a solid unit and works well. Later that evening, after the plows went by and the temps dropped, I went and finished the EOD (end of driveway) and was blown away by the torque this thing has. It sounded like it was eating bricks but was chewing up big boulders of hard packed and ice crusted snow with little effort and starts on the first pull. That's why I didn't opt for the electric start!It tracks straight, unlike some Toro 3650's I've owned.
If you have any questions, fire away.
Thanks!

Hello from the Huron, Ohio -- 50 miles west of Cleveland. I have never owned a snow blower before, but I bought this model today after looking at your informative video (thank you) and reading some reviews. Here's hoping that I never EVER have to use it, but FAT chance of that ever happening! At least I'm not in the snow belt.

Thank you very much for taking the time to show the video. I've got an offer from Home Depot on 18 months no interest. So I'm considering this model.

***UPDATE*** Yesterday I used it to clear 4” of snow that had been rained on. It was very, very heavy and I finally got the engine under full load. It did remarkably well and could throw the snow farther than my HS80 could. I’ll be modifying the 2nd stage on that so it can handle the heavy stuff better.

paulyshore98 I moved 20" of snow last night off the Bointiful Bench just north of Salt Lake City, Utah. my neighbor has bigger two stage. It took him much longer with a smaller driveway and he kept getting clogged. I have always been a fan of Honda products ever since I worked for a landscaping and snow removal company back in highschool (1999) Thanks for this video, so i could get up to speed on the features and this model. I bought the last one Home Depot had. super easy to put together and use.

I have the exact same issue with mine. I wish Honda would change the design, because my older Yard Machine never had the issue of snow collecting on the wheels. Makes it hard to get a flush cleaning of your walks/driveway.

I've been considering this model over the Toro PowerClear single stage machines. And i to have heard about this complaint. But after reading through many various forums online. The fix for this tire issue is to spray WD-40 on the wheels PRIOR to using the machine. And to let it dry on the tires before using the machine is also crucial. Another method was using either a silicone based spray or even something as simple as PAM cooking spray. And also folks don't forget to spray your snow shoot and let it dry as well to prevent clogs. You do both of those things and this little powerhouse will be ALL that you need.

This seems to spit out the snow WAY more than the toro models I've been looking at on youtube. How are you liking it so far after a year of use? Any issues..etc? I've read numerous reviews indicating that the controls come loose after time and the chute moves, or when it's cold the controls are extremely difficult to move the chute. How is your experience with this?

It really depends on the kind of snow you get. We get heavy wet snow that commonly clogs up two stage blowers. This thing uses brute force to move it, but 16” of powder is probably doable but more suited for a two stage.

Rst28 I would absolutely buy it again. This is the 4th season of ownership and when I pulled it out of the shed, it (without exaggeration) started in a half of a pull. As in, it fired before I pull the cord all the way out. It’s got tons of power and just chews through slush, ice and snow. I have a new set of paddles ready to go on, but I don’t think I’ll need them this season. Just spray Pam or WD-40 on the tire treads before use to keep the snow from sticking and you’ll be golden.

Where are 12 inches of snow on the driveway? It looks to be 4 to maybe 6. I just used an hs720 on a real 12 inch snowfall with bigger drifts and i broke my balls pushing it. It is out of it's league over 5 or 6 inches. My neighbor helped me with his 5.5 horsepower? and it was no sweat. I wish i hadn't bought this Honda cuz it is too much like work. I came in all sweated up. I see reviews that claim that it is the greatest, but it seems like i am lifting weights whenever i use it. What am i missing?

@user-jj7lo3sp2n

With snowfalls that high, you either want a 2 stage or to do partial passes with the snowblower. Partial passes may take longer since you're only taking in half of the snow but it'll be easier on you and the snowblower.
@Robsbrd99
@Robsbrd99 Жыл бұрын
It IS a single stage. They just aren't rated for a foot. You probably need a two stage machine for that. I have a Toro 721 single stage with a longer driveway. I like to let the snow build to about five inches and go take care of it. That way, it's not hard on the machine. I do think the Toro MAY pull itself a bit better than the Honda. I'm a fan of both machines. I do like the chute controls.
