Testaverde first booed then cheered with hail mary to crayton to win!
****Since so many do not know the origin of the Hail Mary****
Please look up Staubach to Pearson at Minnesota 1975 playoffs.
• 1975 Vikings-Cowboys H...
Staubach dubbed the td a hail mary. Its not just a 50 yard throw into a group for WR and DB's in the end zone with time running out. Sometimes its just a go route that works as time is running out.
This was Patrick Crayton's first TD just like Alvin Harpers first TD via a Hail Mary.
Crayton also had the clutch 4th down catch to keep the drive alive.

Your getting a taste of that aging feeling. I used to go to the Cowboy games from 65 to 69 in the cotton bowl. Don Meredith, Bob Lily, Bob Hayes. Also that's when Roger Staubach came along in the late 60s. I went to a few games in Texas Stadium. I was 11 in 1965 and it was 1 dollar to sit in the end zone. It went up to 2 dollars in 66 and mom complained about that. We were poor. But Texas Stadium was 6 dollars in the end zone. So with the exception of a few games I just started watching on tv. But I remember thinking as I got older it wasn't the same anymore.

Thanks for posting all of these, Timmy. After watching a few of them, it’s amazing how bad the Cowboys were and how many unknown, throwaway players were on this team. No wonder it’s 22 years since they were relevant. Of course, Jerry made billions on a series of crappy teams.

People seem to forget that it takes a team to win SB, in 2014, Romo got the team to the playoffs with their D being the worst in projected Dallas history. And People also call Romo fragile, or weak, even though he has played through multiple injuries to win games. Broken Ribs, punctured lung, broken back, he may be injury prone but he isn't the only one who gets injured. People just hate him tho idk why. JJ watt has had more back surgeries, but do you ever hear anyone trash talk him? Look at Romo's stats and compare it to Brady's Aaron's Manning's or Brees'. He is an outstanding quarterback who has never had a complete team before 2014. I will always miss room and that 12-4 team is just 4-12 without him...

vinny may be a minor footnote in our history--though his '04 states weren't all that bad--but i will always remember this game, this moment. we were terribly incompetent back then, after three years under dave campo (love ya, dave, you were a great db coach!) and a momentary spike in '03. this game, this moment was a season high.
@timmyjohnson7954

Stephen Velez Vinny’s stars in 04 were similar to carter’s in 03 and Bledsoe’s in 05. Romo’s in 06 honestly also. This was an outstanding coaching staff. Six head coaches came out of this staff. Not a single head coach from the Dallas staff since. Tells you all you need to know about Jerry and his hiring of coaches in Dallas. It’s a mess.

all good points, timmy. yeah, jerry really destroyed everything. i have no doubt that jimmy was tough to work with, but jerry: so what? do you wanna win or be in the hall of fame for making lots of money for the league. i know what us fans would prefer. the great thing about having a history is that it keeps you warm at night when times are tough. but 22 years? i mean, from the end of tom to the middle of jimmy, we were only bad for 5 years. it's very frustrating.

Vinny played his heart out for dallas in 04 and so many games that season could have easily went dallas way. Ill never forget that seattle comeback on monday night football that year. Its a throwaway year for most dallas fans looking back but gotta appreciate vinny playing 16 games running for his life at 40 years old. And aside from some slow games had a decent season all things considered.

The Dallas Cowboys lifetime record vs Division opponents. Eagles 68-52 (.567) Giants 66-46-2 (.588) Redskins 71-45-2 (.610) Since the Cardinals were once in the NFC East I’ll throw in their record vs the Cowboys. Cardinals 56-32-1 (.642) This is the Cowboys combined record vs the NFC East: 261-175-5 (.598) That’s complete domination of your division opponents. Name another team with stats to back it up that has that kind of record vs their division opponents. What’s so impressive about this is the fact that the NFC East as it is today (minus the Cardinals) has every team that has won at least just one Super Bowl. Teams. Super Bowls Cowboys 5-3. (.625) Giants. 4-1. (.750) Redskins. 3-2. (.600) Eagles. 1-2. (.333) Total. 13-8. (.619) No other division in the NFL can lay claim to every franchise within its division having won a Super Bowl. No division comes close to the NFC East for total Super Bowls won and total Super Bowls appeared. Considering how dominant the NFC East has been throughout history where as the Super Bowl is concerned. That makes it that much more impressive that the Cowboys manufactured 8 Super Bowl appearances and won 5. It makes it that much more impressive that they dominate their division rivals who have also dominated the Super Bowl scene.

I did not likr Testaverde at all. But now i realize that shit season was not his fault. We had some good receivers and a bad ass tight end but that was it. The rest of the team was horrible. No blocking no run game and very little defense. The man did the best he could with what he had. Not to mention the star QB we had on the sidelines that no one knew about. Parcels did not like Romo he would have preferred to cut his own hand off before giving Romo a serious look. It wasn't until Bledsoe went down before Parcels was forced to let the world get introduced to the Cowboys future QB.

because a cowboys fan would no the origin of the term Hail Mary. A cowboys fan would know the history of the 1975 nfc championship game at Minnesota. The sequencing of the plays, the distance of the pass and the situation in the game in this game is almost identical to that of Staubach to Pearson in the 75 nfc championship to win. There is about a 10 yard difference in the pass but the play Staubach dubbed the hail mary, was not a jump ball in the endzone, it was an identical go route to this one crayton caught. Also nearly identical to the 75 game is the 4th down conversion here from Vinny to Crayton...Staubach hit Pearson on a 4th and 17.....then the TD pass......Vinny hit Crayton on 4th and 10 and then a few plays later the TD to win......Just like Staubach's this was a hail mary. You're welcome for the history lesson next time before you try and be sarcastic maybe ask yourself..."Do I know what I am talking about" "Am I smart enough to be sarcastic" in your case the answer is no and in the future make sure it's a yes.

@@timmyjohnson7954 A hail mary is a desperation throw at the end of the game. Roger Staubach coined it after "throwing up a prayer." It's not hitting a runner in stride. Great play, but not considered a hail mary.

David Richardson um yes it is. Just another form of it, exactly like the original. 37 seconds left, no timeouts and needing a touchdown. Pleas read all the other comments and the description before preaching to me. It’s been explained a 100 times.

For a so-called premiere defense, that was high, high order shitty play on Dallas's touchdown. The cornerback (a high dollar free agent signing that year) either is stupid as a brick, or the safety is (if he was charged with having the wide out over the top), or the defensive coordinator or play caller for the assignments. Regardless, giving up that ball to Crayton is chickenshit football performance. (I don't care what team does it. Dallas has done that tons of times since this video, quite ineptly. And Everson Walls made a career of doing that.) But NOTHING will EVER compare to Marcus Williams' all-time incompetence in the Vikings / Saints playoff at end of 2017 season. Well, actually, not nothing; everyone who ever held out the ball at the goal and had it stripped away win that award.

@@timmyjohnson7954 I do know my history Roger's pass to Drew coined the phase. A hail Mary is a desparation pass into the end zone in the final seconds. That was not a desparation pass.

JUST LOVE shoving up Joe Gibbs ass. Joe Gibbs was such pussy ass coward. When his team lost he never wanted to shake hands,,,,when they win he does. Watch after the Santan Moss debacle on Triplets Night 2005 (such a SHAMEFUL loss but not nears as bad as the laste Texas Stdium game in 2008.) Ater the Moss game ended oh he could not wait tio run oer.AS usual Gibbs just slaps hands...the next year he is all smiles huggng on Parcells....such a joke. If 1982 nd 1987 COMPLETE seasons are plyed with the IR rules now....Gibbs NEVER wins a Super Bowl,, never.
