Oh man, not long after that episode aired I was at a friend's house ( we had all seen it) and there was a big crash in the kitchen and much cussing. I went to see...as I looked in I said ..".Sa-laad...when the bowl fell" She had dropped a big glass bowl of salad and it broke. She quit cussing because she had to laugh.

People hate on the JJ films, but those uniforms are more faithful to TOS than the ones on Discovery. I do love that Phaser rifle too. It's what I like to use in Star Trek Online.

Although McCoy's outfit wouldn't look as good alongside kirk and spocks outfits because, aside from the badge and the rank insignia, McCoy and spock wear the same uniform. Uhura wears the red, as well as the female uniform

It's not really a pistol case that case is based on. It's an all purpouse case, used for optical equipment as well as tools or dental stuff.

@@foompthedroid Yep! They are actually made (originally) by Plano - a plastics company that specializes in Tackle and Bait boxes for fishing. This was originally a design for a compact tackle system that didn't quite work the way they wanted it too, but the box was so damn good, they outsourced it on about a hundred different projects. Now you can even find knock-offs in about every color in the rainbow and then some..

When the first reboot came out in 09, they released computer wallpapers that showed off the mini insignia textures on the costume, so I was aware of it but it's really subtle and neat. Great costume design.

Yeah, the reboot movies were awful, why let people that obviosly dont know anything about Star Trek make Star Trek films. The new Star Trek Discovery series is an example of the same.

shut the hell your mouth. JJVerse isn't real Star Trek, yes, but they're fun and enjoyable. I'm able to separate the two in my head because I understand that the movies were made for different reasons than the OG Trek films. But you best not be hating on Discovery because that shit is great Star Trek. Maybe get past the first episode next time before you slam on something unique and fresh. edit: But I could go without it being exclusive to CBS All access and their shit platform. That's my only gripe.

Diskflame The biggest problems with both JJ Trek and Discovery is that they are called Star Trek, the films are your basic mindless sci fi action when Star Trek was never about that and Discovery while having at least in part some interesting stories are another generic sci fi which besides the name and the different species thats inherent to Star Trek have very little to do with Star Trek and is pretty poorly executed. Its like putting a BMW logo on a Lada, it may have the name/logo, but its never gonna be a BMW. There are huge amounts of us die hard Star Trek fans that dont approve of JJ Trek and are very sceptical to say the least about Discovery. I certainly wanted the new Star Trek to be great, but since far to many steps have been taken from all the other series and films which has created the Star Trek universe, it doesnt fit inside the whole Star Trek universe being as it is a prequel which i think is one of the biggest mistakes they made. They should have made the new Star Trek to follow after all the other series and films, that way one could have accepted alot more differences since it was a completely new unwritten story unlike with a prequel that has to fit inside a certain frame. I think with Discovery they took a huge crap on the Star Trek legacy, it would have been better if they called it something else, but i guess they had to milk the Star Trek name..... BTW I have watched all the episodes of Discovery besides the last one which i havent watched yet, im not entirely sure why, but i guess i have still some futile hope that it will turn out much better down the line, but im not holding my breath, it has become better though, but it doesnt feel like Star Trek to me. If you want to se a new series that is very close to the Star Trek legacy then watch "The Orville" instead, its great.

Stefan Sjöberg you clearly haven’t been paying much attention to the films like me. The newer movies aren’t actually reboots. They are the Kelvin Timeline films, and it’s canon that they take place in a parallel universe. Spock and Nero both fell into that reality and changed the future. The Star Trek we all know of still exists, and there were times when they came together.

he said the med kit reminds him of a pistol case. I've seen actual first aid kits made of that clear plastic that are similar, if not identical, to that case.

I don’t understand all the hate the Kelvin Timeline films. So what if they’re different and they don’t follow the same plot, that’s pretty much what an alternate reality is. They got me into Star Trek and they deserve to be respected.

Tested- love to see the crew at the Star Trek Original Series Set Tours in Ticonderoga NY. Went there this summer and it is a full recreation of the original set. It's incredible.

I do not like the JJverse movie(s) for _many_ reasons. But the quality of the prop and costume designs is not to be questioned!

Norman, i know keeping a mental list of everything you need to make close ups in the b-roll can be hard, but ive noticed a nice system from another youtube channel. They have created a few handsighns to signal each other, stuff like two fingers up for "ill have to do a close up of whats in your hand". Like say when that mechanical action on the phaser rifle was demonstrated, you then could have signaled Adam to stop the conversation and let you get a quick closeup of the mechanical action, then continue once youre done. I hope this might be an idea for you guys too, it would improve these types of videos a lot. (Before someone says "Go to LA and see for yourself", right, not everybody is close to LA or on the same continent, you know that mythical world beyond the US, you may have heard of it.)

Hello think of having a ship with no rudder if you want to turn the ship you have to increase power to the left propeller and decrease power to the right propeller so if you only have one propeller you can not do anything that is how the book I read explain it

I think the pants may have been modified motorcycle pants, judging by the stretch panels at the knees. Also Kirks boots look like motorcycle boots based on the extra material on top of the in-step toe.... or maybe it is all a coincidence haha

I've been working on a new uniform for the Morale Officer. Something that seems to be missing from a deep space exploration starship that is on long tours. Their job is to keep the crew "happy". Based on the original series uniforms but with Roman toga influence...one breast bare but with an insignia shaped pasty. Probably make it pink...or they could be considered part of medical or support services.

I can't help but wonder if the auctioning of these items is a bad sign for the new Trek film series. Paramount held onto costumes, props, and models for the Trek film and television series for no other reason than that they had a continuing series that they were producing.

For me the pattern of a referential print was in no way obvious. I was just happy that they used some kind of material that seemed comfortable to wear rather than the cliché synthetic jumpsuit.

Why do they sell this stuff? Wouldn't it be better to keep them in a museum for movie props? I mean, once it's sold, how do you know what happens to it? A lot of these big franchises have practically become historical. Wouldn't that make these items precious? I don't know. It just bugs me :/ Oh! Great video by the way :D Brings out my inner nerd!
