Adam's latest build is a new tool to aid in his quest for precision in his machining and other shop work! It's called a stitching pony by leatherworkers and is essentially a large third hand for holding onto raw materials or parts while he works on them. And Adam has come up with a way to make his stitching pony quick to release, tighten, and operate!

When doing monotonous work on the table saw. Take a break every 5 or 10 cuts. Brush the saw dust away, step back from the machine and stretch. Take a drink. Anything to take you away from the machine, let the motor in the machine rest and for you to regain focus. A lot of home table saws are not designed for continuos use. Give them a break and they'll last longer.

Chris is great and my engineer son and I binge watched the clock building videos and looked forward to the Antikythera Mechanism but anyone know what happened at least 8 months ago it sort of just stalled. His words were, and I quote: "Son, I wish I had a pony like this, would have made a lot so much easier" ..so there you have it Mr. Savage.. a compliment from the past to this futuristic build.. I would politely disagree. The editors adding sound effects and music, imo, detracts from the feeling that Adam is just chatting with the viewer personally. I absolutely loved when the Quarantine episodes started, as the editing was so minimal. This recent move back into over-editing makes me a little sad.

Adam, I have watched your content for many years, since the premier of Mythbusters, and you have always been an inspiration to me and the way I make things; the way your cough sounds after using your disk sander worries me immensely. Please, for the sake of being able to continue to do the work you love, invest in your personal safety by getting a better dust collection system or a positive pressure open face dust mask like Alec Steele uses or something. People die from dust inhalation related injuries all the time, and I do not want you to be counted among them. I realize many may see it as a tedium to get prepped to grind or sand something, but as a creator with millions of subscribers and hundreds of thousands of views per video, it is irresponsible to use anything less than standard safety equipment while you work, for your sake and the sake of your viewers who may try to imitate you without knowing any better. Anyone who says you should do what you want regardless of how dangerous we know dust is does not care about your safety and will have no right to complain if you develop pneumonia or something awful after breathing in too much dust one day.

My dad is like that. If he's working on a project, he'll just stop and make some crazy tool from his imagination you've never seen before but now fits the job he's doing to a tee. You are just fantastic Adam! Such an inspiring person. It always lights up my day to see you enthusiastically building something, talking about your tools or just in some way doing your thing. You're using all this experience in just winging it and improvising. Building something from scratch. Always only 80% sure of what you're doing but also always finishing or improving what you started. I guess you're one of the very few people of which I can honestly say I look up to. In someway or another I really want to be like you when "all grown up". Having this shop with all these amazing tools I actually (more or less) know how to use. Full of enthusiasm to make, learn, craft, build and optimize. Never let my perfectionism stop me. Actually for once finishing the projects I started and also being happy with what I made. Having this passion. One of my biggest wishes is to meet you in person one day and maybe even having a beer/cup of tea and just talk for hours.. Highly unlikely but not impossible. Maybe one day?

About 400,000 visits to ER, by way of power tools. I have no number for electrocution, but it's a big one. Here are some statistics on the number of emergency room (ER) visits per year caused by individual types of tools: Power nailers or nail guns: 37,000 emergency room visits/year John Deere-type Riding Lawn Mowers: 37,000 hospital visits a year Chain Saws: 36,000 ER visits/year Stationary Table Saws: 29,000 ER visits/year Snowblowers: 5,7000 ER Visits per year; 19 deaths recorded since 1992 Circular or Rotary Saws: 10,600 ER cases/year Power Drills: 5,800 Backhoes: Average of 38 construction fatalities a year Air Compression Devices: 2,400 Wood Chippers: Average of 3 deaths a year. The big one across all categories is human error. Work when alert and well rested. Pay attention. Don't take shortcuts, or rush. Keep outside people and distractions out of the way. Continually inspect equipment. Make needed repairs WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED! Not after you finish your job. Keep areas clean and dry, no slip/trip hazards. God bless.

One of my late grandfathers did automobile upholstery in the early 20th century. He had a full-size Stitching Horse that the user sat on. I don't know what happened t it when he passed away. I wish I had it. It was a wonderful piece of mechanical woodworking, used by leather-workers and upholsterers.

I love how Adam is teaching his process and procedure. It's almost as though I'm his apprentice. I only wish I could be. I just know he'd have you actually handle the material after giving you the tutorial.

Adam, you’re a total hero of makers, testers and fabricators, no doubt. I really admire you for your humility in comparing yourself to Chris from Clickspring. He is an Esoteric Master of precision machining and you are right to recognize his excellence. I’ve learned a LOT from you, some of it I’m skilled enough to apply. What Chris has taught me is that I’ll never be a clocksmith.

Of all the One Day Builds I have watched, this looks like a fun project to surprise my dad with. Granted, I do not have much tools to work with but, it looks like I should be able to pull this off without too much difficulty.

I really appreciate that Adam uses his platform to repeatedly reinforce the importance of tool safety. Power tools give us so much, but boy can they take. A healthy respect for and even fear of them should be pounded into every maker's brain.

Why? Why do you need someone to enforce something that should be personal to you already? I personally don't care what others do to stay safe. I also don't care about others opinions of my safety practices since they only affect me.😂😂😂

I made one of these for my leatherworking (but I used a long nut and bolt with turning knob for the closing action), and I like this design better because it's faster. I use that setup for EVERYTHING now, not just leatherwork. It's better than having 4 arms!

Part of why I love this channel is because Adam really proves that you don't need expensive cameras and setups and time-consuming editing to make for informational and entertaining videos. If you have expertise, talent, curiosity, or are doing something interesting, then all you really need is a decent phone camera, a tripod, and mindfulness of your audio. I can't tell, he _could_ be wearing a lav, but an "OK" lav isn't horribly expensive. Even if he is, you can get _acceptable_ audio with a cell phone so long as you speak at a good level, do what you can to reduce reverb, and mix your audio so that you can be heard and your cuts don't jump from whispers to ear rape. And I know he has a God-tier workshop that you could call an "expensive setup", but a lot of what he does in these one day build really don't require the wide range of tools he uses. Most of his tools are time saving "nice-to-haves" that can be substituted for much cheaper (powered or hand) versions or more basic household tools. Bandsaw = hacksaw/ scroll saw. Sanding wheel/ grinding wheel/ standing belt sander = handheld belt sander in a vise/ basic hand power sander/ or, you know, just sandpaper and files. Drill press = hand drill and some guide blocks and/ or patience. Table saw = skill saw/ hand saw/ skillful karate chops (I recommend saving for a table saw of you can, though, home versions can be had secondhand for decently cheap prices and are a total game-changer). The only things he has that are more uncommon in the home and are also hard to substitute for are the milling machine, lathe, and welder, and the latter two are still not as impossible to save up for as you might think. Also, a lot of his tools, especially the hand tools, seem to have been made himself. So an investment of time and money into some of the more fundamental tools in his shop and the skills to use them has meant that he has been able to expand his arsenal for just the cost of raw materials and time. In short, I love this shit and it's helped nudged me back into the garage to start putting my workshop back together almost from scratch. I kind of want to see how much of my own toolbox I can make from the mishmash of what I have plus a few gaps I need to replace.

Hey Adam Great Video! Just as a little trick I learned when gluing leather to wood... 2P-10 Glue works amazing. The vertical pull is wild, it would hold 50lbs easy. I use 2P-10 whenever I glue leather to wood for a quick hold and it works amazing. Thanks again for the great video.

I like the clamp, a good addition to the workbench. The trick to glueing leather is to rough up the surface that you glue. Make the surface open so the glue has more to grip on to. This also allows the glue to soak in to the pores inside the leather. I learned this from my grandad who was a cobbler. He always did it when gluing leather soles. I do it when I make my Raiders holsters.
