Again, another reason to LOAD TEST electrical circuits. Great video.....

Pull the weak coil. Polish the coil mounting points which give the coil a good ground. And the area on the coil where it sits on the pads. Shot in the dark but will rule out a bad coil ground. Best test is the adjustable gap tester like you demonstrated or a PET 4000.

The S E stands for small engines and you should have spark across that much gap. The 20, 30 and 40 are thousand volts for large engine ignition systems.

I going to pick one of these up today, I have the one with the light just to tell me if I have spark of not when I'm testing a none running engine if I have to come back to the spark issues that when I bust out the meter to check on the health of the coil but when I do that I have to pull out the phone a google such and such coil for such and such engine and find the specs on it Uhh takes time but I can't be doing that all the time , I started a landscaping COMPANY because I just want to work for my self and I need something quicker to test if I have a issue why I'm out mowing .. I bought back up parts to keep with me so I don't have a bunch of down time lol .. after all if I'm not making money well I'm not getting paid lol ... Ive been working on engines man ever since I was a little kid 10 years old I'm 40 Now lol my dad was a mechanic so I was lucky to have tools to use and as these engines get more and more ridiculous electrical components I just shack my head lol and more safety crap put on them because you always have those dummy's Ooo I'm just gonna stick my hand in there and see why its jammed up ? ohh Crap it just cut my hand off 🤦🏽‍♂️ Oooo Back to the ER I go LOL ..

If there are no points (old equipment) then it has an electronic spark module. The ‘coil’ inside may not be burned out and can give a false lighting on the neon bulb tester. I’ve had two false positive tests with the light type but the electronics inside the module would not throw a spark across the plug. The module was indeed bad.

Hello, I have a van that will not start. Chevy Express 2500. Now, I used a spark tester. Placed it on the 8 new, spark plugs, and wires connected to the 8 ignition coils packs. No spark at all. Does that mean that all my ignition coils are bad?

I could have used that tester a couple weeks ago.

Also if it’s missing you are gonna get a strong smell of fuel.
