What did you do about the crank shaft size and the pulley's

I’m a retired diesel mechanic and I just enjoy fixing mowers and small engines, it’s like a hobby and I have all the tools paid for many years ago and have given most to family members 😊

I put one on my push mower. It creates so much turbulence theres a cloud of grass clippings and dirt surrounding my mower as i push it through the lawn. One small mowing and the mower was covered in clippings dirt.

will a 19 hp kohler courage have enough juice to keep an electric pto charged, or do I have to put a bigger thingy under the flywheel, or just scrap that plan?

Honda doesn't give a damn about your mower problem! Mine is only 4 years old and is junk. I'd push it into the Ohio River but would be arrested for polluting!

I like your style.No BS! So does this have anything to do with my HRX217VKA that makes a metalic rubbing noise when i shut the engine off and the hydro not engaged? There's no issues with it otherwise. It pulls along good when I engage the tranny.

I’ve had my hrx217 since 2012. It finally failed last Saturday. I thought the spring just came off. I tried to put the spring back on and that bracket shot out. I discovered just like you. I didn’t or the spring you mentioned but I think I will. Thanks for the video.

What type of symptoms do this have if the spring is not connected? My mower I can’t pull backwards. It goes forward fine. The wheel’s just won’t spin backwards when it’s in neutral
@Preacher76339 ай бұрын
The spring in the video, is a return spring, it returns the transmission to neutral. If ur having those problems,, the transmission isn't going all the way back,, could be the spring. Try rotating the transmission back by hand an see if that takes care of the problem. May have to move the lever by hand

Gators on a 21 horse 60” mower work wonders. I personally use them on my work mower (has a mulch kit) with our fescue lawns and they seem to cut better than the same mower with the factory mulch blades (blade with the hump in the middle). Idk if it’s bc of the mass of the blade or because of the “high lift” picking up the grass better but I love them. Planning on also trying them with leaf cleanups this year to see what they’re like.
@bobbystewart26059 ай бұрын
Also, a guy was using my mower when I had the gators on it and accidentally hit a metal water meter cover and it didn’t break the spindle (oddly enough) but it did chew up the blade edges, unfortunately. Idk Wht they (exmark) make the spindles out of but they r tough to break. I have, personally, only seen one break.

hahaha yes, you have to loosen the transmission so it "tilts" then you can install the spring.
@patgallagher178810 ай бұрын
Ok. I got the spring you suggested and installed it on my new transmission. While it did work on the flats, on hills it bogged down. I replaced the spring with the heavy spring that honda calls for and the mower propeller much better. I think the lighter spring allows the belt to slip under a heavier load. My mower is a hrx217kvka with smart drive.
@clsmallenginerepair38149 ай бұрын
That spring is just a return spring. It returns the transmission to neutral. It shouldn't have anything to do with belt tension. There's an adjustment for tension on the cable.
@patgallagher17889 ай бұрын
On mine the spring provides tension on the belt. The cable operates a lever that engages the transmission. Without the heavier spring, the belt slips on the pulleys and doesn't propel as well. I tried it both ways.

Hi Carl. Today my HRX217 self propelled keeps wanting to stay engaged even when I take my hand off drive, Not all the time but alot. I got under it and hit the cable near transmission with WD40 but cant see it from the top going to the drive switch. Any ideas?
@clsmallenginerepair3814 Жыл бұрын
Could be the cable, if not check that return spring.
