fun fact: the add brush part actually is pretty fair because a fifteen second add can let you get hundreds of fantastic useful brushes so it never bothers me

I actually use ibisPaint and am satisfied with it’s S tier status. Definitely deserves it. I thought it was weird that she didn’t mention the leaderboards and the social platform side of ibis. I feel like that’s a big plus considering it’s where many people can post their art and gain reasonable traction.

Ibispaint x tips: 1. I don’t think anyone knows what the ‘set’ mode does in the magic wand/lasso. 2. Use filters to blur (I normally use frosted glass them grassian blur, also remember to magic wand the place you wanna blur or else it’ll look weird) 3. You get used to the ad, so don’t worry too much about it 4. If you wanna shade, make another layer then turn down the brightness on that new layer to about 30-45 then use one of the lighting filters. Now your basically a pro

If you watch an ad you can get ALL brushes for 18 hours for ibis paint so it's not a bad deal

Ibis paint's brushes dont take one video for one brush. infact, if you watch one video you actually get all the brushes in ibis paint! And it lasts for 18 hours, if i wers you, it wouldnt hurt to watch one video every 18 hours 😊

If you guys were wondering, ibis paint isn’t the only one of these apps with text tool Autodesk has this feature too. It’s in the same menu as the selection as well as the transform tool (the transform tool allows you to move/resize/distort)

For awhile, I actually used IbisPaint X as my main drawing app, so I can help out with some of the features. First off, to export the little movie, you click the export button next to the play movie button, and then click movie. Then, you select how long you want it to be (6 seconds, up to 300 seconds) and then you have to watch through the actual movie so that way it can download. Second, the brushes actually don’t require you to watch an add for all of them. You only have to click on one of the brushes that require it, watch one ad, and it will unlock all brushes for 18 hours. The add on the top is annoying, but you get used to it, and it’s really the only thing I can’t solve for you. Hope this helped 🙃

the ibispaint “temporary” brushes threw me off a lot when i first started, but you only have to watch one 30 second ad for all the brushes free for 18 hours, as opposed to the ad for every brush that i thought was necessary. it’s a great app because it has ads instead of skimping out on quality parts of the drawing components

For Ibis, you only have to watch 1 ad to use all of the brushes :3 Btw, this app is good for those people who don't have a pen. 😀

before i got ipad pro and procreate i decided to try digital art on my crappy school ipad. we had a small restricted selection of apps chosen by the city council and autodesk sketchbook was one of those. it was the best i could get at the time and even though i much prefer procreate now it was still a very good app and i’d def recommend it to anyone who wants a free drawing app :)

as someone who uses sketches as my default drawing app, the app is pretty easy when you really get the hang of it, and when you figure out all the tools you can make some pretty badass stuff honestly.

I’ve been using ibisPaint and Procreate for my whole digital drawing experience and its so smooth! I was so happy to see ibisPaint at an S, above all others!

My question is how is she comfortable to use all the apps!? Im a ibisPaint user and when I try to use other drawing apps I feel extremely uncomfortable it takes a bunch of days for me to get use to other apps for drawing

Hey, auto desk sketchbook user here. Actually, I don’t know if this is a recent update, but you can use a three finger swipe left and right to undo and redo, and a swipe up for the color wheel, and down for the brush library. I don’t think it requires a specific hand anymore. Great vid tho!

Sketchbook user here for many years and there are more features in the app the more u discover things in a long time(for me lol). The undo buttons r only up and below i think, so i can see left handers having difficulty with that. Another thing it's lacking are the amout of brushes than ibis, tho ibis in my tab is laggy thats why. Imma check medibang out from the comments

Ibis Paint X is an incredible program once you're used to it. For anyone interested in starting with it, I started off using traditional sketches and outlining them via the program but when you're used to it it's wonderful for anything! Look up tutorials and try different brushes!

there’s a text tool in Sketchbook as well in case you still haven’t found it, it’s the third from the right next to the time lapse button (that is also a nice feature you can save in your ipad photos)

Ibis paint also has blending layers filters etc. From movie filters to graphics its amazing.With the adds there is a little X to get rid of it. If you press the i when looking at the window of the drawing you can name your artwork and you can also export the videos by using the 3 dots. I hope this helps

I’ve been using ibis paint for a while now, and it’s absolutely wonderful, especially how there’s custom brushes!

You can export the videos! It's in the three dots in the gallery, just press that and select save movie. You can even choose how long the timelapse is! And the brushes with the ads? Watch 2 bafflingly short ads and you can use all the brushes for 18 hours I primarily use IBIS Paint X, so I'm biased, it does deserve S Tier 100%

I have ibispaintX and once you click "try it for free" It unlocks all the pens for 18 hours i believe. And also you are able to export the small drawing vids Edit: tysm for 200 likes

I use Ibis paint and I know you were confused on how to save the video so I will tell you how :so if you go back and look you will see a three dots on the top of your screen and if you click on them it will ask what you want to do on the art and there is a part were it says (save movie) you will click on that one and select a time and wait for a minute and you'll be done

(13:12) Heck, if you look at one add for "Oh just this brush", it will unlock all of them. Also, when drawing (without opening the "layers" you can see on the top right a "image" button, it will first show u textures and stuff, but at the top of those, (I haven't done this in a long time so) it will give you three options, the one at the right (or the middle) will actually show you body drawing references.

I downloaded IbisPaint but my phone is too damn crappy for it so it lags often. It had a lot of features (though lots of adds too), but overall it was pretty good and so many options which I like. However, since it just wasn't that compatible with my phone, I had to delete it (I got impatient with the lagging). Autodesk is my go-to and I've been using it for years now. It's a wonderful app and rarely does it lag! It's neat, but honestly just try different apps and see which one you prefer. We all have our own prefernaces after all.

FINALLY someone else left handed that has struggles with the side that the app puts the different brushes and tool!

For the Autodesk Sketchbook undo thing, if you go the preferences then scroll a little, it lets you add custom gestures, including the 2 finger tap to undo thing.

I would love to see her do this type of video again since some of these apps have updated a lot

I use ibis paint on behalf of a recommendation i got from a dollar tree cashier (yes, this is true) and i have been using it since. It is the best drawing app i have used (im cheap and cant buy other apps) and i have been using it for years. MAN that cashier was smart because ibis paint has EVEN MORE features then on the surface. You can make custom brushes, download and look at other artists work through the app. You can also use other peoples custom brushes!!!!!!!!! I have no idea who that cashier was, but she introduced me to my favorite form of art, so if you are reading this very nice cashier lady, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

If your using sketch book on a phone it's different (at least for me-) The brushes are in a little library instead right in the side

I'm so late to this but I personally love and use Medibang/Jump Paint! I used to use Medibang on things like my phone and I've been using Jump Paint on my laptop for years now. Both are completely free and offer a lot of brushes, the ability to add your own through bitmaps or add through their own free library, layer blend settings (like multiply, burn, color, etc), and even a paneling tool for artists making things with panels. The only nitpick I have for Jump is that it doesn't have a true free transform tool; it has select tools that let you scale, flip, and move what you selected but it doesn't allow you to freely transform something like you would be able to in Photoshop. However, I don't run into the issue of needing to use something like that often, so it doesn't bother me much

Ibis Paint X is honestly the best.i used it all the time before I got a drawing tablet

I use Sketchbook for my drawings! (I like my art ad-free, sorry ibis fans!) I draw with my right hand index finger (yes, finger, I LIKE THE FRICTION) so the undo thing isn’t too much of a problem for me. Also, I don’t export my images most of the time, I save them and screenshot them. You can also adjust the tools if you aren’t content with them! Would recommend.

sketchbook does have a text option but its at the very end of the top panel

I just use medibang and ibis paint, i feel comfortable with them. Also if you haven't could you try free mobile animation apps? *Edit* also for ibis paint to export your speed art you tap one of your artworks, press the triple dots, hit save movie (mp4) and select how long you want it to be.

To put the whole “layers vs no layers” thing into perspective, Flipnote on 3DS has layers.

2:06 if you just duplicate a blank layer for free you can just have another layer very helpful :)

I've been using autodesk for years and it's definitely my favorite 👌 I also have an app that came with my drawing tablet called artflow studio that lets you have like 3 layers _then_ it paywalls them after that. You either have to watch an ad or pay however mich per month if you want more layers or brushes. Most of the brushes I've used in it are also super pixely for some reason; like you can zoom in super close and erase pixel-by-pixel if you make the eraser small enough (which is probably pretty useful for some people, I just found it kinda weird lol)

I use ibis, and you can export the videos, I’ve done it before. If you go out to the gallery and then tap the box with the arrow in the top right (while over the desired artwork) you can bring up a box of different things. If you select the one that says Movie (MOV) you can choose how long the movie is and export it!

i use ibispaint personally! also if you watch the ads it unlocks ALL brushes for like 18 hours, not just one at a time.

Auto sketch book and ibis paint are the good ones here ibisPaint includes tracing sketches to get them click on the image icon at right corners Includes symmetry tools as well at the ruler area you can find it The problem with auto sketch book is it crashes sometimes But overall both of these apps are the ones I recommend If you don’t want to install any of them, there is a way to draw in notebook as well

Ibis Paint is amazing! I love that only fifteen annoying seconds until you unlock an entire world of different brushes, and can even make custom ones. The layers are amazing, I love adding layers in between two layers, or just stacking them. The special pens and layer moving is great too! The bucket tool really curs down on time as well. Truly an amazing app, even on mobile. It's also great for beginners who have parents who won't pay for this kind of thing, because even Ibis Paint isn't free, Ibis Paint X is free and amazing, even for mobile phone use! Truly wonderful program!

One thing I want to say about her mentioning the locked brushes on Ibis is that it gives you ALL the brushes for 18 hours! And even if it can't load an ad, you can still use them for a shorter amount of time! I find this isn't a bad trade off, especially because the ads are usually pretty short! Edit: To export the video, you actually click upload and you get a video of it- can't remember the exact process because it's been awhile since I've done it though lol

With Ibis paint, the ad for the brushes actually unlocks every blocked brush, so it’s actually pretty fair, not to mention you unlock it for 18 hours.

It's possible in Sketchbook to remap where the undo button is to any of the 4 corners, and it's also possible to hold 3 fingers and swipe to which ever direction undo is mapped.

Bruuuh ibispaint is great. Considering how many unique brushes there are, watching a mere ad to unlock all of them is awesome.

the one ad in ibispaint unlocks every brush and also removes the tacky looking ad on top and the playback can export in the three dots

When you click on the orange pop up and watch an add it make all the brushes free for 8 hours which is pretty neat

As a sketchbook user myself it is very easy to learn and there IS a premium thing that u can buy but you basically have everything you need in it!

Lavender, if you practice drawing in one layer it will be easier to do. I speak from experience.(However I don’t recommend signing out of iCloud as it results in deleted drawings, oh and even if you don’t have Pro Sketches you can post to community, if you have an older version that is. Can’t post without iCloud account activated though.).
