Testing NITRO LAQUERS for a guitar painting and relic

In this video, I will try to answer the question - which nitrolac should be used to paint the guitar. I will test several different types of nitro varnish from NITORLACK. This company produces special varnishes for guitars. Including for the Relic effect. We'll see how it works in practice and run some more freezing tests.

Very good subject, I was surprised to see the Nitro Relic finishes cracked that much with no freezing/warming of the wood. I believe your Nitro finish will probably give the best result, but we'll see in the next video after freezing. Rock 'n' Roll, Brother!

Thank you for the information. Just wondering if an electro guitar made from roasted pine (Fender American pro2) good idea to cover by nitrocellulose lacquer? If the Nitro will be a good protection for the guitar body from damages or for pine body better to cover by polyurethane varnish?

Amazing information, thank you so much! You never use any primer? After you do grain filler on mahogany you go direct to the clear lacquer on the back of Les Pauls ? Thank you!

I have fiesta red from "Nitorlack" and clear aged satin from "ColorTone" and may I use this combination i.e. are they compatible with one to another? Many thanks!

If your fiesta red not water based then yes.

К сожалению,Гибсон, использует разный нитролак.у меня есть ехплорер 96 года,который прошел кучу концертов от рождения до сегодняшнего дня,но так и не запаутинился на столько,про то что все говорят про ниьролак на Гибсоне.Есть лес полы 12 и 16 года ,но они тоже,пока не зацвели)

Alkyd varnishes are great for fences, benches, floorboards, yachts. But for guitars technologically not applicable.

I'm confused... surely no nitro paint should crack without applying a heat gradient (either heating then rapid cooling, or vice versa). Did you do this? If not, what is happening? (PS actually I love a relic cracked finish, but would wish to control its application)

I use a different technology which is based on several freeze cycles. So the varnish cracks not from the shock surface stress, but from the internal one. This is how the process replicates the influence of time and is the most realistic method. Details on my Patreon.

Hello Dr. Nitro. Підкажіть будь ласка. Я хочу спробувати парткастер в стилі 59th Stratocaster. На скільки я розумію, треба глуховатий neck та широкого спектра body. Є варіант взяти вармус Roasted Alder body, та Original 60th neck from Fender. Тоді корпус додає підтримку по верхах для глухого грифа, і виходить такий квакі саунд як в 59, з несподіваною атакою. Щоправда в того грифа накладка не slab board але просто venir, не знаю на скільки це критично. Бо дивився гриф від реішу - ціни космічні. Як альтернатива взяти гриф від MIJ Reissue з слаббордом, якщо попадеться, вони дуже не поганої якості. Ну або вармус, але знов таки треба задати чіткий спєк - а звідки його взяти. З пікапами також питання, зараз багато виробників, і назви у всіх різні. Pure Vintage 59th ніби щось подібне виробляє. Порадьте щось.

Привіт Сергій. У мене був не дуже позитивний досвід з Вармусом, але я не мав можливості вибору. Якщо боді має легку вагу, то це великий плюс. Якщо це ростед ясен, то це додасть вінтажних частот. Але дуже важливо підібрати гриф до тіла. Тому що від грифу залежить 60% резонансу. Я не раджу використовувати японські грифи, оскільки вони вкриті поліефіром. Краще знайти без покриття чи з нітро. Оптимально без накладки. Але часом підібрати зв'язку гриф та боді виходить не з першого разу. Вони повинні точно резонувати в інтервал. За датчиками порадити не можу, тому що я сам не роблю датчики для телекастерів, а підбирати їх потрібно до дерева. І це теж не з першого разу виходить. У будь-якому випадку потрібно все пробувати.

@@8BombCustom Ви кажете про 54th strat, Swamp Ash body & one piece Maple neck. Це абсолютно безпрограшний варіант, ясень додає теплої середини, хороша атака, бойовий такий варіант. В мене є ясеневий телекастер для таких речей, цілком задоволений. Я маю на увазі 59й страт, наприклад, це все ускладнює kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hreZg6ynmpPOc3k.html Інколи хочеться пограти на такому звуці, щоб без напору і атаки, щоб була така капризюля з якою треба постійно сперичатися. Але я так розумію, що ця межа між капризюльою та палкою зі струнами дуже тонка. Гадаю вам є що порадити в цьому напрямку.
