Good video….. it always seems like folks want to tell you what u should have done after the fact. I think it’s just because the results wasn’t what they may have thought it should have been. Anyway keep it up lots of people appreciate the info!!! I have been using the heat vanes on my hunting rig this year with a sng bevel iron will 125 gain and they work extremely well.

I would have liked to see a bare shaft tested to know how much of the noise is actually the vanes. That was a cool comparison though. I’m going to look at the tac and heat vanes. Thank you

I started with the heat vanes but thought they were to ridged. Ended up switching to the AAE max steath with a 4 flech. By far the best I have used.

Excellent test. Decibels are a big part of archery. Would like bow levels also.

Curious how a more comparably sized non-shield cut vane would do….AAE max stealth for instance.

We will for sure be testing more Vanes this year and AAE will be top of the list

How do you know your decibel reading isn’t just from your bow going off? Not sure how you are isolating the fletching sound.
@JoeMilesMWT
@JoeMilesMWT 2 жыл бұрын
Great question…..we shot the bow the opposite direction and checked the reader and there was no reading so for sure it wasn’t picking up the bow noise
@Nakai2024

I think you simply talking would trigger the sound sensor and had an effect on your reading. Maybe retry and simply don't talk, just show the arrow...
@JoeMilesMWT
@JoeMilesMWT 3 жыл бұрын
The talking didn’t trigger it and neither did the bow going off (As that was much louder than any talking) we tested both and that is why we put the reader at the distance we put it and also why we put the target where we put it so the reader wouldn’t pick up the arrow impacting the target.....very good point you make and no way you would have known that before watching the video....thanks for taking the time to watch the video and leaving a comment....really appreciate it!

Both the shooter and target were too close to the mic and probably contaminated the results a bit due to possibly the talking but more probably the impact noise. It does not seen like the decibels should have been that close.

Jamie Jackman interesting....always looking to learn and hear from others guys that have good positive information to share to make us all better bow hunters....please drop some knowledge on me....how far exactly should they have been apart and what effect did the talking have at 25 yards on the meter set to pick up the loudest sound? What have your results been with a decibel reader? We tested both the shot and the impact noise before this test at different angles so that it would not pick up the arrow flight but was the same distance from the target and they were both less than the broad head flight. Sounds like you know a lot about this....can’t wait to learn something from you...thanks for the comment.

I apologize if I have offended you. Obviously video is sometimes limited as to perspective but the truck appears closer to the target than the shooter. If that is incorrect I apologize. However if this was the case the impact noise could possibly have contributed to a inconclusive result.

I was hoping to see something of a combination of DCA custom arrows video (7 vane noise testing 12012019) and your decimeter. It is hard to find exactly the info one needs on you tube but I was able to decide on the TAC vanes so thank you.

Vane being quiet is only worth so much. How they control a broad head and group is more important IMO. And the Heat has been the worst for me...
@JoeMilesMWT
@JoeMilesMWT 3 жыл бұрын
Accuracy is number one....no question about that.....what broad head are you shooting? Are your arrows tuned for your bow? What vanes worked for you? Three fletch or four? There is a ton more that goes in to it than just being quiet....totally agree with that....but I have had my 4 fletch heat vans shoot the 100 grain iron wills wides perfect out to 50 yards.....I shoot those and rage Trypans and like both.....for me the heat vanes worked great with my set up and were the quietest we tested.....if they are super accurate and are quiet it’s a win in my book

@@JoeMilesMWT have you tested your 4 fletch heat vanes for noise? I know i was messing around with 3 and 4 vane setups and noticed at least to my ear that 4 fletch was louder.
@JoeMilesMWT
@JoeMilesMWT 2 жыл бұрын
@@Noc426 yes sir….no question 4 is louder than 3….however I found 4 controlled my fix blades better….if I just shot mechanical heads I would do 3 heat vanes but feel like I need 4 with the fixed blades
