I do have retrotink 5x and that paired with PS2 is definetly better than PS3 with tons More options but still BC PS3 is good way to play 👍

@@KimTe63 I'm definitely going to invest in retrotink. I'll just need help figuring out the best configuration per game. I plan on playing silent hill 2 and probably Tekken 4 and 5

@@retromintman8450 5x is awesome but bit steep in price. It looks great even without touching any settings. Very much worth it for me atleast

Keep cleaning the ps3 backwards, because they can get easy broke, or overheating issues, then the new slim models!

Yea its great console.. I would like to get that model aswell to do comparisons but man it's just too expensive for me to justify purchase since I already have ps2 and pal bc ps3 hah😀

How are you playing guitar hero ps2 games on ps3? I haven't been able to get controllers to work

Actually I meant I had issues with ps3 brightness probably because of adapter I used to bypass hdcp. I know I said in video ps2 but it was mistake lol .. so I boosted brightess on ps3 footage when editing, it was way darker than it actually is. If I continue this series I will get somekind of hdmi splitter to not have that issue

Which way did you go ?

@@KimTe63 I sourced a 60GB fat ps3 and have been playing ps1 and ps2 games via back compatibility 👍

@@jarethanstey7566 oh thats much better than one shown here. I guess you have research this topic yourself but your unit is almost 100% compatible with PS2 games unlike European model showcased in this video which can play somewhere around 75-90% of PS2 games without issues

I know man , that's definitely one reason why buying one of these systems may be risk, they will definitely die at some point especially if not taken good care. Still looking back so cool Sony actually had all generations playable when ps3 launched

@@KimTe63 indeed this system was and is Sony’s best system in terms of usability 3 systems in one. I would recommend upgrading the fan and creating extra ventilation on the fan side. Also changing the thermal paste if possible.

@@treedeblue yea I need to do fan upgrade myself at some point 👍 I have pretty much only cleaned it up and changed thermal paste for it. And also im using custom firmware so I have fan speed adjusted so temps stay under 70c all times. Could go even much lower but don't want it to sound like jet engine hah😀

@@KimTe63 you should change all the thermal pads and delid it if you want it to last. just did my a01 yesterday. seems broken how quiet it is now. they need it for sure. the past under the chips is like chalk

I would like to get also A01 model but just cant justify price when i already have PS2s and dont really need it but would be cool to do some videos If i had one. Obviously cant find those locally because it never released here in Europe and shipping +customs would only add so much to imported one

I have never used that model.. I'm interested in it but was never sold in Europe and importing one is expensive 👀 it's been a long time since I compared actual PS2 and my backwards compatible PS3 but if you are not willing to pay for upscalers like retrotink etc then that PS3 can be a good option because it does decent upscaling by itself. It's not as good as actual PS2 in terms of feel and lag imo but it's not that bad to be honest, probably would not even notice unless testing side by side .

I have one. It's pretty much a proven fact that games that only output in 480i will have significant lag due to deinterlacing. Most games I play on my PS3 support 480p luckily and thus have no latency. One workaround for this is to use component cables on the PS3 and then use an ossc or retrotink or whatever to deinterlace the 480i signal natively. That said, like just buy an HDMI modded PS2 or use a scaler at that point if you aren't looking to play 480p supported PS2 games. I have both consoles so and the PS3 is quite amazing for progressive only PS2 games. Most of those 480i only games like silent Hill 2, gauntlet legends dark legacy, etc have native 480p support on an og Xbox though so I rarely use my PS2 for anything but their exclusives anyway. Also, forgot to mention PSN (PS2 classics games) have native 480p support so no worries with latency with those.

Yea 100% . Partial emulation ofcourse also has problem with many games but around 80% of games should work fine I believe 👍 while jailbroken its complete hit or miss will a game work

I would have to revisit this at some point .. but yea I guess it may do that in some games ? You don’t really have options to control that manually other than choosing 4:3 or “fullscreen” which is stretched to 16:9 . Everything outside those options are controlled automatically by PS3

I may actually revisit this at some point . My recording method for PS3 at the time was not the best and may have also altered colors a bit on ps3. Now i have more experience and better equipment so could be fun

Yea ossc is awesome especially for 480p content , not the best solution for 480i but still for the price it is worth it 100% . I still have not tried my OG xbox with ossc but have to do it at some point 👍

@@KimTe63 With the OG xbox it is perfect, I replayed Conker Live and Reloaded recently and it looks awesome on my 1440p monitor

At some point I may do more of these. Now I have better quality cables for ps2 and better upscaler so it could be very very even now 👍

@@djmixin1 well at the time of this video I was using OSSC but have since bought retrorink 5x and that’s great for PS2 👍🏻 aand yes i was using component cables

In some games even superslim is fine but even European partial emulation models like this video are waay more compatible with ps2 games compared to full emulation like superslim for example 👍 thanks for watching!
