That homelite actually looked like a decent saw for what it was. Fun story on the black and decker. About 15 years ago my dad bought one and made a huge corded backyardagain polesaw where you just plugged it in when you were ready to cut. First cut was horribly slow pulled it down and out of the box it had the chain on backwards. Hahaha

That Remington is straight up scary AF. The chain slack you see is NO joke. Its almost constantly lose requires a tightening every 3 or 4 cuts. Personal experience here! No BUY!

I rolled my eyes at electric chainsaws until I tried one. No need to bother with mixed gas if you have 120vac and the occasional limb less than 4-5in. My father who has breathing problems turned down my stihl last week and tool care of an uprooted 40ft spruce with an electric chainsaw. He cant be around the fumes of a gas saw. Also, you can use an electric chainsaw in your garage or shed if ever there is a reason.

Could you do a video on picking your first skid steer for snow removal? I.e. hp, high flow/low flow hydrolyics, maybe what you would be looking for to replace a truck with a 8 ft front plow doing a larger lot? Could partner with a dealership via zoom and cut away to different video you already have.

Another quality video! Portland and Homelite for the win! Id recommend trying the Bauer Cordless too from HFT. I was super surprised with it using the 3 or brand new 5 amp.hr battery! Cut many a tree with it and the battery lasts many cuts even with the 1.5 amp.hr smaller battery. Its so light I get almost no fatigue. Even though its only a 10 inch bar it cuts quick enough you can go to the other side and run it through quick in no time with up to 19 to 20 inch trees! 74.99 or 64 with a coupon or 20 off with purchase of battery and charger sold separately. Great also if youve bought their drill(also sweet deal) package or anything like that and already have the charger and smaller batt. Their pole saw is great too.

I had a cheap corded chainsaw (like $25) which worked just fine but once the oil tank cracked there was no replacement part and fixing it would cost like a new chainsaw. Now I'm running Makita corded 12" and toolless chain replacement is so worth getting not to mention I'll actually be able to get it repaired since Makita cares about having parts.

Thanks Stanley. keep em coming, I think considering the pricing they didn't perform too bad, apart from the battery one! Don't suppose any of them would last that long, maybe the Homelite? I started using an electric saw (same size and similar power) for cutting logs at home as they are much quieter than gas so I didn't annoy the neighbours too much! Also as I use it in a clamped hinge system in a sawhorse, the blade oil filler is on the top, so can be refilled without taking the saw out of the clamp. I started with a Bosch which I thought would be good quality, it has a nylon sprocket that stripped the teeth pretty quick, I ordered a spare part and replaced it, but it did the same again .I then got a Qualcast, this has the Oregon Quicksharp system and works well. Used it for a couple of years cutting approx 5 cubic yards of various sizes (from about 14 inches diameter down to small branches. Still on the original blade, but it's on it's last legs and will have to be changed pretty soon, Both the saws cost around the £100 mark ($120).. I'm thinking of getting a 14 inch battery powered AEG, mainly because I have other AEG battery tools, so already have the batteries, and the other AEG tools are good quality..

I took the guard of off mine also It's got a 16" bar and runs 12amps But I reason the one featured in the video is a good saw also though based on my experience with mine.... My only complaint against it is that it uses a lot and I mean alot of bar oil..... Keep an eye on it and the chain can vibrate and lose it's tension at times..... Monitor those things and you're golden though.....

There is no amp hour on straight electricity, only Battery's has amp hours. I have a polan 16 in 3 1/2 hp chain saw, it's a monster on cutting logs (home own) saw. I have the 9in. pole saw from Harbor Fright and it cuts wood like butter. (home owner) I just got the Lynxx battery 40v 14 in. chain saw (Harbor Freight) it's a beast also. (home owner). For someone just to go buy one of these and doesn't know how to sharpen the blade, none of these saw will cut anything after you hit dirt. When I lived in a house that I could burn wood, gas was the only thing out at that time. Try battery power, the Lynxx would out power the one you had in this video. Good review man Keep it up!

I've used an electric chainsaw for years now because I have a bad back and can't yank on a starter cord. People make fun of it and I tell them make no mistake that electric chainsaw will cut and if you forget cut just as fast as a gas one. It's perfect for what it's designed for, that is trimming around the yard, less maintenance, and, if you give it time it will cut through medium-sized trees. It won't cut faster than a gas and it's limited by electric cord length but then again that's not what it's designed for.

A decent comparison, but .... can such a saw last for the 10-15 years, as a, for example, Husqvarna gasoline saw?
@xenonram
@xenonram 4 жыл бұрын
What do you think? I'll bet if you put one of these and a gas powered saw in a shed for 15 years, one of them would start and the other wouldn't. You'd need to order a new carb/fuel lines for the gas saw. (Even if you ran it dry.) Now, as far as which can be used daily for longer? Obviously the Husqvarna. And just because something says Husqvarna on it, doesn't mean anything. They make tools that are $150-1500. The ones that are $150 are pure Chinese garbage. Every year, you'll have to buy the carburetor, fuel line, primer bulb, fuel filter, and air filter combo; for $45 to get it up and running. (The carbs are non adjustable, you can't get the jets out, and they have thing, cheap, plastic membranes. They are disposable.) So if you only have $150 to buy a chainsaw that will be used 2 A year, get the plug in electric one and save $100. If you cut a lot of wood, buy the $250-400 gas. If you cut wood a few times a week, on your house or farm, buy the $400-600 gas. If you are cutting wood commercially, many hours a day, as a job, buy the $800+ gas.

Thanks for the review. But you need to learn the difference between amp and amp-hour (and watt and watt-hour for that matter), these are completely different things. It makes absolutely no sense to say something has an 8 amp-hour motor, that's simply not possible. What really matters is how much power the motors have, which is measured in watt, not to be confused with energy which is measured in watt-hour which also makes absolutely no sense when you talk about motors. What-hour is however very important when you talk about the batteries. The power (of e.g. a motor) in watt is the amperage multiplied with the voltage. Since all the corded saws run on the same mains voltage you can get away with just comparing the amperage instead of the power (in watt) since you are always multiplying with the same voltage constant (120 V in the US), but if you are going to compare it with a battery-operated model running on a different voltage (36 V nominal - not 40 Vmax in this case) you need to compare power and not amperage. For gasoline and diesel-powered engines, the power is still often measured in HP instead of W or kW, a leftover from the old days, but you can easily convert between the two by multiplying with a constant. These are just two different units of measure for the same thing. That being said, to quote Wikipedia on Horsepower: "There are many different standards and types of horsepower. Two common definitions being used today are the mechanical horsepower (or imperial horsepower), which is about 745.7 watts, and the metric horsepower, which is approximately 735.5 watts."

@@mitchdenner9743 Well, I would say the same thing right-back-atcha. Using the correct terminology never sounds dumb. It's you that makes your self sound uneducated when incorrect terms are commonly used over and over. Then, you become aloof when you insist on sticking to your incorrect wording. Good luck with your "electric engines"....

I have seen other channels test 'cheap' equipment and felt the same as this test of cheap chainsaws. Why did I waste my time watching? Anyone who buys the cheapest whatever is not going to be watching a review of the cheapest whatever. Let them buy based on color, design, or however they choose. Test stuff that you or I might want to buy that will get the job done. It does not have to be the most expensive nor the biggest. Please don't test junk again. Leave that to the channels that are failing.
