Recently I have the opportunity to test this absolutely epic ebike in LA. Big shoutout to North Bay Bikes for hosting. This is the dual drive train Cotton Mouth project.

Looks like a solid build as far as speed.. that's plenty! I'm close to La well 5 hours putting tensioner in frame 💪💪 big benefits dual drive! All builds will be soon.

Having the extra chain I would assume that removing some stress having two would actually have much more longevity and less problems.

Yeah very much. Mainly on the bike chain side of things. You can also use the really wide range 11 speed cassettes without wrecking them. Your motor drive train will always have perfect chainline etc

Best option for high power mid drive! Did you have any issue with chain lube getting on the brakes?

Not that I noticed. Probably something to watch for though.

Possible to use these motors on a dual suspension MTB? Or will it effect the drive train making it not ideal? Thank you, love your channel and appreciate all your work with the community❤

Good question. The chain growth will be a problem on the drive side. There will be a rhd version but it's not going to have the advantages of the dual drive. There is a full suspension frame being worked on that will eliminate this but it's a specific frame to do this.

Will this double transmission help in any way to enable regenerative breaking? How difficult will this to set up on a Bafang bike frame? any custom work required on the frame to install the transmission on the left side? I see this uses a custom bracket that uses the rear caliber mounting points. I hope this can also work on other frames in the future! How heavy is the motor roughly? Heavier than BBSHD I suppose? This looks absolutely great. If this can be fitted on a full suspension frame and is somewhat affordable, I would love to start my next project with it!

Good questions. Pretty sure it's heavier than a bbshd. I'll weigh it when I get a unit in. You can use it with any bafang ultra hardtail frame right now. There will be an optimized one available directly from north bay bikes. Others will require more effort with the chain tensioner. Variable regen is available. I just forgot to mention it.

Its down one of the glorified storm drains they call rivers there. Would have been crazy to see it during the recent storms

Just curious if this has been tested on going up steep hills? How much slow down? How is the torque on inclines?

I did not hit many inclines so not totally sure in terms of climbing. Will know more when I build one and hit the hills here!

Oh wow, ive been on your channel for hours last night looking to convert a bmx to a mid drive and also how to juice up my m620 bike. Now i know what to do with my m620. I read a comment you wrote about using an 11spd cassette and something about keeping the chain aligned. Does that mean you dont have to have a separate drive chain on the left side?

The motor drive train is on the left and a regular cassette on the right. That way you get perfect chain line and less stress on components as well as a few other benefits. One being variable regen braking which I forgot to mention on the video.

The TS is not tuned yet. Cadence right now. It's in testing mid year I think

Its called the Santiago trail. There is meant to be a decent off road part but it was locked off.

I mean I get it. But it was for a few very quick bursts when I could clearly see everything and there was zero risk to man nor beast.

​@@HighVoltageKitsYou were flying down the bike path on the north side of Bond Ave. The posted speed limit there over on the street for cars is 40mph and you were hitting faster than that on the separated bike-only path. Why don't you just hop over onto the street if you are going ride at motorcycle speeds? I am fascinated by high-powered e-motos built on bike frames, but this kind of riding belongs on the streets with the cars. The early days of the ebike wild west are over, and all of us are suffering from the flurry of heavy-handed new anti-ebike legislation thanks to the careless behavior of a few sur ronsters. I only care because this is my neck of the woods where ebikes are already banned in the state park properties and more and more beach communities. If you ride like this up in canada I really don't care. I realize that was a long stretch with good visibility, and you are careful rider... but are your viewers? Are they going to go hit this path at 45mph now? I might be overreacting, but so are the lawmakers. No beef, nor hard feelings, just my thoughts.

It’s actually my fault! I peer pressured him into it. “Hit it Man!!” is what I told before he tried it out. We actually did jump off the trail and onto the street to ride the fast speeds and stopped at ALL Stop signs.

you shouldn't be going so fast on bike paths. just ride in the street dude. it's reasons like this people will push for restricting trail/path access to ebikes

Understand the concern. 95% of the ride was well within limits. It was a few bits for demonstration. I could have made a video showing all the times I stopped for disabled people and got off to walk it past dogs. Cheers

@@HighVoltageKits i get it. somewhat mitigated risk. but there could be a cat you didn't see or the survliennce camera that is used to paint the picture of it being a worse problem. or people who watch your videos and mirror these acts who have less experience. just sayin bro. set the example by doing it right in the streets,
