I've been saying this for so long as an alcoholic in recovery. My anxiety would be so bad from withdrawal it was the most difficult part of quitting. After a few weeks no booze, even just a week, my anxiety was minimal to gone.

@@pikasnipe1 Stay strong. I'm at 10 months. It does get better. Exercise has been very critical for me. Helps release energy, take your mind off things, and you sleep WAY better when you're exercising regularly.

I bet you his therapist said a lot more than what Bert lets on. Probably told him he wouldn't have so much anxiety and restlessness and social phobia if he didn't literally drink everyday to deal with it for his entire adult life. But as soon as the therapist said something about him having a substance problem he probably turned it into the bullshit he said. He prefers finding psychiatrists who'll just give him Xanax he can wash down with just a few Tito's and soda

That Gear is a term for Steroids themselves, is really creepy to me..?! Gear" always referred to the equipment needed to get a drug into your system intravenously. Usually the syringe, a metal spoon/cooker(to prepare the drug for use), cotton, water, and hopefully some Dope to shoot, but you usually pull out your "Gear" after acquiring the substance. I first heard this term used often when, sadly, becoming a Heroin addict for several years in NY. It's always been a term for the equipment used, not the substance, which actually makes sense. It's hilarious to hear Bert using this term for the substance. I guess that's the slang in this arena..?!👍💯✌️🙏

I don’t think it’s his denial with his alcohol intake, but more of a denial with the reality that he’s virtually killing himself. He is trying to convince himself that he is an outlier and can live to his 80s with that lifestyle, which is about as likely as him cutting back to 2-3 beers a day lol

I was having this exact same thought last night. Iv been a struggling alcoholic since I was 15-16 years old, I’m 35 now. It’s been touch and go, I’ll get a few years sober in then a year or so drinking. It’s bern really bad the last 8-10 months and abstained from drinking last night and had a moment of clarity. I realized how much I jumble my thoughts and words when I’m actively drinking, and how much sharper my thoughts are when I’m sober. I see my self in Bert in some ways and I know the denial he has and the mental gymnastics he does to justify his life style. He needs to stop drinking period. But he needs something REALLY BAD to happen to him to ground him in the reality of his situation. That’s usually what happens, unfortunately

@@SouthernOregonOrgani I was drinking daily during the pandemic and basically went on a 2 year bender in which I drank 14-16 of alcohol servings daily. My anxiety and fatigue levels were bad early in the day, and I had to drink to feel better. My mental faculties and verbal abilities were worse when I was sober, but I "felt" sharper after a few drinks, but I likely was a slurring moron in reality.

He's worse now that they've started doing it at his new studio more recently because he does think he should be in control more or that he's somehow the boss when he should be looking at it as an equal partnership, and maybe he does and he just acts like he's in charge when it's at his studio but I'm willing to bet he does believe that when they're at his place, I can't deny though as annoying as Bert can be, he is entertaining and that's really all that matters here

Thinking back on my drinking days. When I used to have a few drinks 🍹. The anxiety I used to feel during the day after drinking. Bert uses the word anxiety so much, he needs to reel back the alcohol intake. His body is used to having a depressant in it and then when it wears off, the full body and brain anxiety kicks in.
