After entering a special grid pawn converts to either rook, bishop or knight (dice roll decides). If the match takes too much turns then rogue queen spawns at random square every five turns until there is one last survivor.

It always seemed like the game was missing modes, in the stats section there are two separate tabs for “Overall” and “Tetris 99” which seems strange considering Tetris 99 is currently the only playable game mode. Also inb4 Thanos in Tetris

Personally, the story mode didn't interest me at all. (I did play through the whole thing for a valid opinion.) Then again, most anime-type stories don't interest me at all, and, to say the least, Puyo Puyo Tetris has an anime feel to it. The gameplay itself is absolutely solid, though again, my disinterest in anime-type stuff causes me to have issues with it. I can't turn off the (in my opinion) annoying-as-hell voicelines that play when you clear lots of lines, without also turning off the block sound effects, which I need when I'm playing fast. They get old and obnoxious super fast for me, and the fact that they're said by characters I don't feel anything for doesn't help. Also, the version of the main Tetris theme in the game in Puyo Puyo Tetris is missing the whole second part of the song, and in general is pretty bland. I don't mean to make you feel bad for enjoying Puyo Puyo Tetris, but the way the game sounds just turns me off so quickly. (Right when I boot up the game, I'm greeted by an obnoxious anime voice saying the names of the companies involved, which puts me in a bad mood going into the game. A real shame. I'd like to enjoy Puyo Puyo Tetris, but the voicing and music in the game range from disinteresting to straight-up annoying to me, interfering with my ability to get immersed in the game, which is one of the reasons I play Tetris.) I appreciate the customization available with the block styles and whatnot, though even these options leave a bit to be desired, and in my eyes does not make up for hating listening to the game. Again, I don't want to make you feel bad for enjoying the game, but I just can't.

It's an improvement of Sticker Star but it's not exactly an accomplishment to make garbage slightly less garbage. The dialogue and humor are a lot better, but it still pales in comparison to the first three games in the series. This is of course just my opinion though, and more power to you if you enjoyed the game.

@@cheezy5174 I think that just because it's predecessors were absolutely immaculate, that shouldn't reflect too negatively on Colour Splash since it's basically it's own thing. I mean, we overlook the fact that 3D World doesn't stand up to the other 3D Mario's, but is fun in it's own way and I think we might be able to do the same for Colour Splash.

@@TripleJump I think the reason 3D World works but Sticker Star/Color Splash doesn't is because 3D Land, while different from the other 3D Marios, still have the core mechanics and game design philosophies of the other games. It has the tighter, linear level design of the 2D games and combines that with the creativity and mechanics of the 3D games. It still just feels like a classic platforming Mario adventure, and despite having some differences, all the platforming games feel like they belong and can coexist in the same series. Paper Mario, at first, was a expansive, brand new take on the Mario franchise, taking the building blocks of Super Mario RPG and putting Mario in a new world as a unique RPG experience. TTYD just built off of that even more, which is why it's considered a masterpiece. The reason the newer games are criticized is because it's so drastically different from what we were promised. The game is barely an RPG anymore, which is why even Super is criticized despite still having creative story and characters. The problem is not that the games are necessarily bad. It's that they're bad Paper Mario games, and it's impossible to not compare them to the previous games because they just aren't the same despite being in the same spinoff series. But again, that's just how I see it. A game's quality is highly subjective.
