Tetris Effect has been a game that has intrigued me since I first saw a trailer for the game. The Tetris effect is something I discovered much later on, and I feel much the same in that I am so intrigued by the idea. In this video, I talk about both. I know this is a different video, but I wanted to dip my toes into a different style and make something out of my comfort zone, and honestly, it was a ton of fun. Let me know if you want to see more videos like this.

Understanding The Tetris Effect.
Tetris is a game I’m sure you have all heard of at some point. Maybe not played, but definitely heard of. Now I can say as of writing this script I’m borderline addicted to this little block game but for the longest time I thought it was ridiculous. My father had always told me stories of him and his friends playing tetris until the early hours of the morning and I gave tetris a try once or twice but just couldn’t get into it. That is, until I tried Tetris Effect. I’ll be honest, I can’t remember exactly how i learned of this game but I decided to take a leap of faith of sorts and gave it a shot because the trailers showed some awesome visuals. Tetris effect has served as a gateway drug that lured me in with it’s particle effects and beautiful scenery, only to get me hooked on its intoxicating gameplay and leave me, much like my father, up until the early hours of the morning.
So, as I assume some of you may not know, Tetris is a very simple game. You have a series of four blocks that show up in seven different combinations. The combinations are called tetriminos. If a line of tetriminos is created, that line will disappear. Certain combinations and setups can lead you to getting up to four lines cleared with the drop of only one piece, and this is called a tetris. The faster you go and the more lines you clear, the higher your score gets. It’s as simple as that and I’m sure that it sounds boring. But it’s not, I swear. I think the thing that might make it seem boring is that, for myself at least, Tetris is quite boring to watch. I never had much of a reason to really get into it because simply seeing a line disappear wasn’t rewarding enough to keep me engaged, and I find myself struggling in most cases to simply race myself and compete against myself for a new personal high score. Also, what the hell is the Tetris Effect?
Essentially, the Tetris Effect is a phenomenon also known as Tetris Syndrome that describes an event in which someone devotes so much time into an activity that it changes the way you perceive your surroundings and it can even alter the way you think. These thoughts can be obsessive, and individuals have claimed that they can’t prevent such thoughts. Some even see it in their dreams, leading to a poor rest despite how much time you spend in bed. Now this, Tetris Effect, is not exclusive to the game as any activity can cause you to experience similar symptoms. To give an example that puzzle game fans may relate to is the Witness. The Witness sees you connecting these line puzzles and as the game goes on you eventually start drawing these puzzles in the environment. Some have reported that they saw the world differently after playing the game. See that spoon? Doesn’t it remind you of a potential line puzzle?
Tetris Effect is Tetris like you have never seen it. The tetris effect is also quite interesting as a concept. To make a quick correction, Tetris Effect multiplayer does exist but only on PC from what I know and this Tetris Effect review is on PS4 Tetris Effect classic mode and marathon mode along with a few others are present here. Tetris Effect gameplay is as good as it gets and the Tetris Effect connected version which adds some multiplayer is even better. Tetris Effect Series X is not a thing from what I know but we could get it at some point with a likely title of Tetris Effect Xbox. if you search for Tetris Effect videos on youtube you will find runs on grand master Tetris and the awesome Tetris Effect ost which I could not touch on here. Tetris Effect pc is available on gamepass and runs well as far as I saw. Tetris Effect VR is featured in a free update for Tetris Effect PS4. The Tetris Effect zone mechanic is new to both Tetris Effect and Tetris Effect psvr, and pc Tetris. Tetris effect music is also available on Spotify. It contains a ton of songs not seen on the playstation Tetris or the Tetris effect next-gen. This is not Tetris effect vr review, just a base Tetris effect ps4 review

I had a genuine out of body experience playing this game. No joke, full ego death. One minute I was playing, next minute I had no idea what a controller was or what I was "playing". I watched the pieces fall and had no idea who I was, where I was, or how I got there. I ended up freaking out and pulling off the VR helmet and running into the bathroom to look in the mirror. Took me a long time to even understand what happened. This game is a gift from another dimension.

I had this during Junior Year of high school. I would play Tetris so much on the bus and at home that I would constantly play a game of tetris in my head. The good thing is that once I got over it, my deductive skills and awareness of small details skyrocketed because I was constantly focusing on an internal game of tetris. Nowadays when I read subtitles, I count the amount of letters in the sentence, and I am much better at Algebra and math as a whole. I gotta smarter from playing tetris and suffering from this condition.

Despite its incredibly simple nature, Tetris somehow carries this ability to immerse you in a way very few other games can. After playing for a little while, you enter this weird mental state where your mind goes blank and you don’t consciously think about anything. You just play the game. And somehow, despite the fact that you arent thinking about the game (or having any thoughts at all), you start performing really well. Your brain instantly knows exactly what to do and does it without thinking. You start clearing lines like theres no tomorrow, and you have no clue how your doing it. You just let yourself get immersed in the game and playing it becomes something that just…happens. Id describe it sort of like driving a car. You dont think consciously about turning the wheel or braking to slow down. Your brain subconsciously senses that something needs to be done and responds with no conscious thought. Though Tetris feels like a more extreme version of this idea.
@ThatSavoieDude

I used to play Tetris in my head at work. The ceiling tiles were rectangular, not square, and I just looked up and visualized them as matrixes. And then I would just run some lines between calls. The next blocks always seemed random and I could accurately memorize about 5-6 blocks high - enough to simulate Tetris clears and T Spins. Luckily the folks at work looked at it as being smart, and not as someone who's helplessly addicted to a decades old puzzle block game. Tetris forever.

When that Tetris effect game came out I could not stop playing, it was much more addictive than any other game (when I use “when it came out” I’m talking about how when I find it) now I see Tetris blocks slightly it’s like, something REALLY obvious block shaped items

Can you really say you were in the zone both in mind and in game if you hadn't got a decahexatris? Better yet were you ever at the hight of perfection if you never got a perfectris? Most daunting of all perhaps a Ultimatris escaped your grasp like grains of sands between your fingers. At 16 your mind was in tune with the shapes at 18 you would not spare a thought as your mind was separate, but beyond... 20 although just 2 more lines your time might be caught perhaps you were too busy clearing you lost sight of gaps on the structure you built while the clock ticked. My personal best line clear with the zone mechanic was 20 only once I've noticed getting a decahexatris is fairly easy but going perfect or ulti is kinda hard if rng doesn't bless you

Hey man, great video and topic, the Tetris effect has always been something interesting and kind of scary to me, especially when I cant sleep. But I didn't realize that the stressful work sleep where you dream about taking orders and being late falls under this too. Now that I think about it, the feeling is very similar. Though, in this video I think you are mostly just discussing the game Tetris effect, and not as much about the actual Tetris effect. I know this video is a one off but that made the title a little misleading. Still a great watch though.

How is the title misleading? Based on your comment it seems like you learned something new about the Tetris effect and have a deeper understanding of it, no? The game is only brought up to illustrate the points and explain the Tetris effect further.

@@ThatBoyAqua I meant that based on the title, I thought the main emphasis of the video would be the established tetris effect, but the majority of this video was about your experience with the game. I know they are both closely related, but you only mention the effect at the start of the video, and the rest of it was about your experience with the game and the other effects playing the game had on you, like getting into the zone and thinking less as you improve. I just thought this video would be all about the already established tetris effect that you mention at the start, how people see patterns in parking lots and play tetris in their sleep and stuff. Not trying to be rude though, just trying to give some honest feedback. Still a great video.

whatever we say tetris actually we can say a kind of satisfaction that we like in ASMR videos & it release the chemical that your talk its remind me a story of a kingdom where a king wants to know about kingdom people life where he wants to know why they so frustrate with life so the king advicer say give a 100 coins of bag to someone but take 1 coin out of it then one of the people pick it up then he realise that its 99 not 100 he realise its 100 coins in it maybe i should do it to 100 but even he tries so much he didnt do the coins exact 100 but the king understands then he give the coin to that man so he actually end this thing & enjoy & that is tetris it always makes you curious to clear path but we cant & their coding design of levels & blocks its make even impossible then making ourselves very curious that we just do it again again many times but in the end its a game with a deep science which i like since my childhood & also other games like battle royal games have this kind of effect where makes it endless thats it btw Good Job aqua atleast newer generation of should know about our times of games because its very deep & scientific thing that make their mind blow in the end awesome keep doind this its very knowlegeble.THANKYOU
