Funny how this fire effected cattle so much. I have family in Texas, on multiple ranches, they've all told me that it's nothing like they've ever seen and they've been through multiple fires over the last several decades. They've told me they don't know what to think at the moment, but something is very, very wrong

This is abuse on humans and animals. The govt needs to be sued for this loss when the true cause is known.

My heart goes out to all the farmers that suffered losses from the wild fires in Texas. I love cows and get excited seeing all the calves in the field all around where I live. Yes I also consume beef but it's sad to see that cows suffer along with the farmers. Feel like there was someone behind all this. I want to farm the land and think we need to support the hard working American owned farms.

I stopped being independent on the Go¥ after the covid vaccines also after how they handled some train derailments and how harmful chemicals ran throughout the rivers and streams from the derailment and hardly nothing was done about it. This opened my eyes to more things that happened as well. Of course, all this is my opinion but a well stated point.

I support farmers, ranchers, (and I don't eat meat), and truckers, worldwide. Screw all these western governments, trying to get rid of them.

Rural & people deriving their income from agricultural need to pay attention to the Amos Miller court case in Pennsylvania. This could potentially impact many people's livelihoods and is much broader nationally than than most can appreciate. Robert Barnes is representing Miller.

I think part of the problem is some are so vusy trying to survive they can’t prepare. Others think we are nuts. But I will take folks like you who give us more ideas how we can grow our own and maybe help me think about something I may have forgotten. We all need each other and I am grateful for your site.

An insurance doesn't pay off on ARSON

Everyone needs to start a victory garden and each family needs 3 hens. We need to rebel with as much food independence as possible. Buy meat n dairy from local ranchers. Stock up on rice n wheat, pasta now and grow potatoes! Get a rain water system going…you will be better off than 95% of the people. Even with just a 3 month food n water supply!

Spurious fires all of the place, I also think many of them are deliberate, look to who is buying up all the farmland... and likely messing with the weather as well !

Sounds like rural people should get tax break if FEMA doesn't work for us.

I’m raising 100 meat chickens this year. Non vac. Organic, non gmo and pastured, for about $2/lb when I could buy meat at the store with the same things but $9/lb. No brainer to raise on my own!

Anyone who watches this channel or any other channel for preparedness should have been listening. I took everything seriously when folks like you know the ends and outs of this business. If you say beef prices are going up or there's a shortage. Then i took that and stocked up. We have a farm. We have chickens, not cows, so we have eggs. Tomorrow, I will be culling my first chicken. Im a little nervous because I have never killed anything for food. I have killed a snake and had to put down a deer with that zombie decease. That made me sad. So I'm a novice for sure. I told my husband we have to take this seriously. We have to be even more self-sufficient. It doesn't matter how much we put aside or stock up. We need to be ready to feed ourselves for a long time. He's the gardener, and he's really good at it. So my job is the chickens. I wanted them, so I'm in charge of them. Wish me luck!

CEO Mark Walther has developed a process to infuse key nutrients & minerals into bagasse, previously a useless byproduct of sugar cane after its been processed at the sugar mills, which then becomes high quality cattle feed. He was also interviewed on Baton Rouge channel WAFB 9 news. Please spread the word so these poor ranchers can get their cattle fed adequately during these most difficult times.

Plant using the 3 sisters method like the Native Americans do - corn, squash and peas or beans. Peas and beans climb the corn and the squash keeps the animals away from the corn.

I have to tell you those who don’t live in ranch country have no idea. I understand completely, and every year I learn more about ranching thanks to my ranching friends. I have been helping them for 10 years now and see the problems that can happen. We are already in moderate drought and I talk frequently to the irrigation master. She said it will suck. So I know it will drastically affect their ability to grow grass and me for growing food. If they can’t grow grass they can’t grow grass to over winter. Last time this happened ranchers sold their cows early. You know what that means. Add the loss of the Texas cows to the mix and we both know what it means.

Supply and demand, it’s a cruel concept, here the food is supposed to be plentiful, and yet the government is destroying it to where not everyone will get food, and prices will continue to increase. Small farmers are just not able to keep up with demand. The guy with 50 cows selling raw milk can’t up his production when a factory with 5,000 goes down. Raw milk, grass fed beef, pastured eggs and pork, all these sell out like crazy at the farmers market.

This country has so much land. We could feed people with no problem.

Actually clay soils are heavy on minerals but they are hard to grow in because the lack of space for oxygen between aggregates in the soil. So if you can loosen clay with gypsum, compost, well decayed aged wood chips etc it'll become perfect. You can also just add in sand and be good to go. Especially make sure to add in aged leaf matter. Take your fallen leaves out em in bags, moisten them, tie them shut stab holes for aeration, and you will have so much mycelium (fungi),which actually MINES minerals from deep below in exchange for sugars from the roots of plants, it makes a huge difference. When you see white fuzzy looking structures in the leaf mold it's ready to go and holds moisture. It's perfect for starting seeds and sterile at that point

Watching you work is not distracting. Its motivating for me. I'd much rather watch someone doing farm/homestead activities while I'm listening instead of just watching someone talk.

In my opinion, not 1 acre of ranchable farmland will not continue in production. It may be a different owner, but they are not going to let the land sit idol.

Why does nobody in Texas care? It’s like I’m living in the twilight zone or something. to bazaar to comprehend. Is it some kind of pride thing?

Were grass fed beef farmers in Wisconsin. I can't imagine losing our herd. We have driven through the feed lot area of the panhandle of TX several times....

Last year our local cattle farmers sold their cattle at low prices to get rid of them during the hay shortage. They didn't just kill them off. In that way they could minimize their own losses while helping the consumers.

FEMA should be as helpful in Farming/Rural areas as They are for Metropolitan Areas. Without Farms being assisted in recovery, the Cities will run out of adequate food and the results would be catastrophic.

The bad part about this is today is Wednesday and the panhandle of Texas and west Oklahoma are under the highest fire risk again!

Cattle deaths are approximately 12K from the fires. It will be higher as the summer heat takes its toll on the lungs of cattle that were in the fire and survived. It’s also calving season in the panhandle. If we get typical rainfall this spring, some of these pastures won’t be grazable until June/July. It’s my understanding we are headed back into a LaNina effect which typically means lower rainfall for the panhandle.

People here in the Texas panhandle where I live (born and raised) are some of the most resilient people you’ll ever meet, especially farmers and ranchers. I don’t care what anyone tells you, we’ve been in a drought for 25 years or so. I personally don’t believe that these fires were intentionally set. They were caused by human negligence. Smoke house creek is off the Canadian river in the back country and the weekend prior to these fires they had the river race/sand drags. Folks not putting out their camp fires is what caused it.

Low end right now, without the euthanization of the surviving cattle, we are almost at half a million pounds. . With the euthanization, million plus pounds of beef gone. . I don't see family farms being restored. Not in this economy. Impossible to replace $ what was lost. . The food situation is beyond bad right now

Anyone with 1500 head of cattle is going to have cattle insurance, livestock insurance, or farm and ranch insurance. So only the small farmers are probably not insured. Most of the cows in the panhandle were imported from Mexico. So they can buy more cows.

And who will buy this farmland? China, Bill Gates?

I have been working towards more chickens with a large walk in coop and fenced in about 1/3 acre for them. Our other large project has been a good sized pond of 1/2 acre- lined. I put in gold fish and catfish. Not sure if the gold fish were a mistake but they should be feed stock for the cats.

And other countries have told their people to stock up because they know what's been planned. Thankyou for what you do for your nation. Hope and pray they listen.

During WW2 my dad living in South GA couldn't get cattle feed. Hr and others had to bring in grapefruit peels from Florida. At first the cattle wanted nothing to do with that as food, but they came to like the citrus peels and wanted nothing else. Hopefully there can be alternatives other than just expenisve hay to feed the cattle. Prayers for all the animals and and ranchers and others in Texas.
