Texas Clipper, An Ocean Oasis (10 Years In)

6 жыл бұрын10 years ago Texas Parks and Wildlife sank a 7000-ton ship 17 nautical miles off the coast of South Padre Island to create an artificial reef on the barren sandy bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. It has become a haven for marine life, anglers and divers.

The group photo on the Clipper was my prep cadet class. I have that photo. I was onboard her for 4 summers. 87-90

they messed up its sinking. it was supposed to sit upright on the bottom, but it rolled over

TAMMA will be getting a $300 million training ship by 2025. The bill to build new training ships for the US maritime academies was passed a few months ago

And anglers? Doesn't that negate its primary purpose of a wildlife sanctuary? Just another fishin' hole? Wouldn't divers want to see all the wildlife?
