Should have been a double induction, BUT I think Harrell was the OC at West Virginia at the time. I think that's the delay, plus he recently stole Donny Anderson's grandson as a Purdue recruit. He'll be up there one day.

I was radicalized Nov 19, 1966. On that day my dad took me to get a haircut at I think it was called the college barber shop. They had the Tech game on the radio vs #6 Arkansas. all the these old guys cutting hair, every customer in the place were setting on the edge of their seats listening to the game as Texas Tech got their first ever victory over Arkansas in football. i was 3 years old and still remember how excited everyone in that shop was. Since that day my love for Texas Tech just keeps growing. In the summer of 1976 i moved to Arkansas, this was a time before the internet, so getting news about Texas Tech was hard, just the newspapers and Dave Campbell's football magazine. I had my mom embroidered a double T on a pair of red gym shorts since Tech merchandise wasn't available here in Arkansas. Well you can imagine how that went over. That led to my official nickname...Texas Toad🌵

Great discussion. Where does a guy like Marcus Coleman fall. His “Raider” safety position helped shape a new era of secondary defense. He was an All American and while in the TT HOF, I think there should be consideration for Ring of Honor.

Started traveling to Tech football and basketball games from my hometown (Parts Unknown) in 1988. Watch Jamie Gill and the Red Raiders knock off UT. Fell in love with the Red Raiders during high school in the mid 1990s. Was in the house when Zach Thomas took it to the house against the Aggies, while my brother was an Aggie student. Started a great run of making him miserable. We had to stop attending football games together. It was so glorious. Thanks Leach. Marcus Coleman and Zach Thomas were my early favorites. Zebbie Letheridge and Ricky Williams were some of the names I loved while in college. Had class with Cory Carr at Tech. Played on a team with Brock Barnes at a high-school shootout. There was nothing better than a big Tech basketball game at the Coliseum. It was a great old arena. You could feel the atmosphere. Loved the mid 1990s teams, but Andre Emmett cemented my Tech hoops fandom. Dre loved the kids.

As a student, I traveled to Austin to watch John Scovell lead Tech past UT. I will never forget that one, and of course have always been a Scovell fan since then. My son payed with one of his sons at Tech in the 90s.

Respectfully to many of the older players I personally never saw play (Donnie Anderson, Gabe Rivera; et al.), Zach Thomas, Byron Hanspard, Wes Welker, Graham Harrell, Crabtree - were all game changers and at the top of my Tech Mt. Rushmore list with Pat Mahomes being the face of the program for all the obvious reasons. Darvin Ham will always be my favorite Tech hoops legend. Great Discussion Fellas! Makes me proud of our rich athletic history/tradition at Texas Tech. We’ve had some greats come through.

I think that Mike Leach should be on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot since there's a segment on it. Leach innovated the 'Air Raid' offense and made 10 consecutive bowl games (most coaches couldn't do 10 consecutive bowl games right now).

As a 22 year old and current student at Tech I was radicalized in my 6th/7th grade years. 7th grade was my first year of organized football which lead to the Revolution of me watching the sport more in general. I will always credit Deandre Washington for making me want to play running back all the way through my high school career. Jakeem grant was the other guy at the time that made me fall in love with the game as well. Baker mayfield in 2013 as well

I am an old. Had the good fortune to have great uncle and father Tech grads. We moved to Lubbock twice from Dallas, once 5 to 8 years and again 14 to 18. One night mom and dad had company. They introduced me to Gene Gibson. Gibson retired shortly thereafter and they brought in Bob Bass. Some names come to mind: Dub Malaise, Norm Rhuether, Gerald Myers, Steve Hardin, Geoff Huston. That's just in bball!

Lubbock Texas was so much more conservative then that when they hear of Hanspard didn’t complete his last semester they judged him hard. Meanwhile national champion LADY raiders were the CATS meow they could do no wrong. Just a blind eye to whT was going on. Some fans hated men’s athletics then.

How about for basketball Harold Hudgens and Del Ray Mounts, Harold Denny, Sid Wall, Bobby Gindorf, Dub Malaise, Norman Reuther. Football would be Dave Parks, Donny Anderson, Tom Wilson, Jim Zanios, Jerry Shipley, Phil Tucker, Johnny Agan. Countless players contributing to the total radicalization over the ensuing sixty years.

Best Radicalized memory. Fall 1995 sitting in the end zone with the ex-wife (wife at the time) and her parents. They are Aggies. Late in fourth quarter Zac Thomas intercepts a pass and runs it into the end zone, right in front of us. All the Aggies (including my wife and in-laws) fall silent. I’m cheering my but off! Side note, we got divorced about 6 months later. Marriage only lasted a year. Then met and married a good West Texas girl and we will celebrate our 27th anniversary in September. We are season ticket holders for the last 4 years, Section 6 Row 25. Can’t wait for September!

Thought Joel Falani was great but during Mike Leach era, it was not unusual to have 2 or even 3 receivers knocking on 1,000 yards or more. Tyrone Thurman was the biggest toughest little guy at 5' 3" - All American as a returner. BJ Tolliver was no slouch as a quarterback with a big arm. In BB, besides those already mentioned, Rick Bullock, Sean Gay, Will Flemmons and more recently Davide Moretti, Jarrett Culver. I remember my brother and me playing against each other in football. My brother claimed he was a famous athlete by some name. My Dad said, "You can be Donny Anderson." I Thought, "Wow, he must be really good!" Only later did I find out just how good he was. I followed Tech sports from that time forward.

The specific objective standards and requirements for the Ring of Honor were put in place to keep the ROH an extremely exclusive, and to avoid subjectivity when it comes to inducting players. An exception was made for adding Pat because the guy is the best player in the NFL, probably currently a top 3 NFL QB of all time, and potentially could be considered by most the best NFL player of all time by the time his career is over. While I'm glad that exception was made for such a huge name and successful player, the argument against making that exception was exactly what is happening now. Opening the can of worms that allows subjectivity into the process then brings in questions about why certain players are not included - players that did not meet the high standards with which the ROH was initially created with. In the end its not a big deal, but I don't think Wes nor Graham should be added. The line needs to be drawn somewhere when making exceptions, and I'd prefer that line be right at "One of the greatest NFL players of all time".

What about spike dykes? For coaches, he wasn’t leach but he was a fan favorite. Good call on Tracy Saul too! He was a legend way back then. What about Aaron Hunt? He and montae reagor began to make tech defensive line u for a bit. And what of laraven Clark? Potentially the best lineman yet to wear the uniform. There wasn’t a doubt he’d have a good pro career.

I liked Byron Hanspard. He wore one of my favorite numbers. My favorite numbers I wore when I played was 4,6,7,8 and 20. I was young when I watched Hanspard play and was not fully aware of what all was going on. By the numbers Byron is Techs best as far as total yards go. I cant compare him to other players because of my young memory of him. We have had some good ones. Just looking at a short list Ricky Williams, Bam Morris, DeAndre Washington, Taurean Henderson, Tahj Brooks, SaRodorick Thompson were outstanding Tech RBs. I always remembered a story about Bam Morris not going to practice and only playing in games. How often he did that or if that was true or not I dont know. I just always remembered that. I liked Bam and all the RBs listed. There are loads more Tech RBs that deserve mention we havent forgot about yall. Imagine what Leach could/would have done with Patrick Mahomes. I agree with Chris that Graham Harreell is Techs best QB while playing at Tech. Mahomes accomplishments in the NFL speak for himself. I keep saying best athlete in the world right now? I feel like Mbappe is on his way to challenging Mahomes for the top spot. To me Mahomes stands at the top in the world right now. Yes Mahomes is a Red Raider 👆👆. Love seeing his mural on the wall on University street near the Jones stadium. Reminds me of Diego Maradona murals. To the multiple cowards half way across the globe who raped my sister while she was on a solo trip, dont think your getting off scot free. Karma is a 8each and she likes to play in the sand. The cowards can't escape just like my sister couldn't escape. It's nice to have good friends. I wonder if fish have taste buds ? Remember you can never go wrong with an impeccable moral compass and when things come straight from the heart 🧭❤‍🔥. Casey looking extra sharp today 🤠. Chris looks sharp too. I feel like Chris should be protected at all costs 🐻. Hall of fame ring of honor blah blah blah 🤣. We all know whos good. Welker was amazing and like Chris said revolutionized the slot. Credit to both Leach and Welker. I think I already told the Kentucky Derby story about Welker 😆. I think it is unfair to compare eras. Jordan vs Lebron. Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo ect. I think its fair to say Tom Brady stands alone at the top as QB GOAT in the NFL so far. Mahomes is nipping at his heels. Cmon Mahomes 👆👆. Its cool to hear about C&C's favorite Tech players and their stats recollections. Casey giving Bonewitz the business 😂. I liked Stan. Thats a cool story. I have a feeling Andre Emmitt was Chris's favorite Tech basketball player. RIP to Andre. Chris talking about not being able to hear the person next to him during a Tech game reminded me of one of if not the best sporting events I have ever been apart of. When the horns ( boo, i have to 🤣) came to town at the Spirit Arena under Beards first game at Tech as a longhorn ( boo ). It was so loud in the Spirit you could not hear the person next to you. Shout out to Kent from UA for hooking me up with a ticket. I will always remember that. Kent has a chip in his brain to help with his unlucky situation. I need to check up on him. Every Tech basket the Spirit Arenas roof came off. I thought It would only last for a few buckets, then 5 minutes, then 10 ect. It lasted the entire game. Whole Spirit Arena with fans decked out in all black attire. I have been to some incredible games around the world. That game stands at the top at number 1. Incredible energy atmosphere. You could feel the energy running through out your entire being like a lightning bolt. It was sensational. God I love Tech fans 👆👆. Cool time machine. I want to check out the USAs military/govt time machine 😂. Take a trip in a worm hole like a slide at the park. From what ive " heard " we are capable of opening and operating a worm hole we just cant control where the end destination is located. Just wait until Ai gets to ball rolling. The future is magical 🪄.

Am I the only one that feels like Leach having to leave Tech was like Jordan retiring. Leach is like a Rockstar that died too early. I still mourn what could have been if Leach could have had like his whole career with us, with all that momentum. These thoughts remind me of never getting to see Jordan and Olajuwon really truly go at it when the Rockets won their two championships while Jordan was playing baseball and could not quite squeeze into the Finals the second Houston win. Those have been my favorite two teams in the 90s: Houston with Horry and Kenny Smith AND of course Michael, Pippen and Rodman. All that momentum getting pulled away from Leach. I really keep hope alive that this is the next fun decade with Joey and some more great Tech memories! JO

I dont want to speak for everyone else but I think your in the same boat with a lot of people. That is an amazing comparison about Leach and Jordan. I have not thought about that. Even though Leach never won a National Championship his level of impact on the sport could be compared to Jordan. Leach was like a chameleon, he wore many outfits Pirate, Rock Star, Story Teller ect. ect. 🤣. Agreed I felt like Leach was on his way to contending/winning a National Championship with all that momentum. Politics is a mfer aint it 😆. Dont get me started on Donald, Joe ect. 😂 Not a fan of politics.... Powerful Ai cant come soon enough. I have a feeling basketball might be your favorite 😂. All those names you mentioned instantly reminded me of NBA JAM on my Sega Genesis 😆😂🤣🎮. Awesome game. I think we are in store for some more great Tech memories. Let the new season commence 👆🏆👆
