In this video I discuss getting into long range precision without spending crazy amounts of money but also insuring you get a solid setup and not short changing yourself. I believe the Howa 1500 Bravo with Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 5-25x50 is a fantastic value proposition! This rifle specifically is the 24" 6.5 Creedmoor in FDE. Here are the links to the accessories:

I spent around $3500 on my KRG Bravo setup. I used a tikka CTR with 24" barrel, Bushnell DMR3 scope, Area 419 muzzle brake, mystic precision mpod. The KRG Bravo is a great chassis/stock to build on I'm loving this rifle. I use it for longbrange practice and hunting both

You can work wonders with a savage and primary arms scope... well under $1k. TiborasourousRex has a few vids on that budget build... Even he was surprised at how well it did-- since he is used to having a $3k scope on a $5k rifle.... and the budget build was getting almost the same results. You gotta check his channel.. He's the master of long range.

Nice setup for sure. I did mine with a Bergara HMR 6.5 Creedmoor, SWFA Super Sniper 10x42 I had laying in my parts locker and the Harris 6-9" bipod. When I upgrade the scope on my 338 Lapua the Bergara gets a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 as a hand me down.

Great review!! And a great rifle at a decent price. However, the only thing I would change is the scope. A couple of years ago I found Blackhound Optics scopes and now, they are all I will ever use. They've been around for many, many years, and built scopes for many other high-end companies. Now they are putting out their scopes with their own name on them. I would highly recommend you check them out. They easily compare to Leupold , Vortex and other high dollar scopes for a lot less. I have the 6-24X50 FFP MOA scope and I wouldn't trade it for the world! I know it sounds like I'm on a soap box but they are that great. They also come with everything you need except the rail and rifle to mount them on.

Won a Howa 6.5 creedmore in a drawing/fund raiser for the local FDP. After I got it home and had the chance too shoot it, I was blown away by the speed! This gun he shows isn't a "1500". I have a "1500", and it's not the bad ass machine he has. What I can say is that this gun out shoots my 7MM Mauser from WW2! It has so much more velocity than my Mauser it's scary! The time it takes for my 9MM S&P shield to go 25 yards, is equal to the time it takes this 6.5 to go 150 yards! It's crazy fast! But I'm no expert, just a guy that likes to shoot.

The rifles out of the box quality today are excellent. Most of the Texas hunting I've seen is 60ish yards to the feeder. By those standards your 25x scope will fit the Texas hunting ethos. However, if you're going to move the feeder out to a hundred or more yards you're going to need a 150x scope and wildcat magnum at the least!

Two years ago I started building a low price AR15 platform in .224 valkyrie build and told myself not to spend more then $800. Two years and $2900 later, there is nothing low price (cheap) in my build. Don't fool yourself. You start out telling yourself that your only going to do a 400 yard build. From 400 you went up to 600. Then you wasn't content with 600 and that little voice in your head tells you to go a 1000. But you need a better optic and a better barrel. You get to 1000 yards and that voice in your head is laughing at you and calling you a pussy for only reaching 1000 yards and that's not good enough and it tells you to go for 1500 yards. You hit 1500 and you feel good, but around Christmas that pesky little voice comes back starts telling you that you need to invest in a better chassis, a better trigger, better glass, better loads, and a new , longer, heavy barrel. Screw 1500 yards and go for a mile. thus $800 becomes $2900. Enjoy

Also the viper is a horrible scope, never should be worht 1k. Sold mine today, the ebr 7c reticle is way too crouded on higher mag and the illumination, even on its lowest is complete overkill, atleast for me - basically blinds the eye.
