Here's a simple Headgate for small livestock like goats or sheep. If you're going to milk a goat, or just need to immobilize small livestock for any reason, this is something you might want to make. This Headgate is an easy project... and will only take a couple of hours to build.
I'll give you the dimensions of it, and a few pointers that will make it function smoothly for you. Then I'll show you how to mount the Head Gate in a goat or sheep shed.

Yup I've seen these used before for milking. Easy project and always good to share a "why didn't I think of that" idea! On a side note I bought that hand crank vegetable juicer/grinder you featured a while back. Used it for the final press on grapes (for wine) and it worked fine. Had to pick the right filter (used pumpkin sized) and even then had to break it down halfway through to clear the pulp. But the squeeze was good, the waste (skins and seed) that had separated had very little juice in it. First time using something is usually trial and error, and as I was pressing 10 gallons... well. So thanks for the tip on a good product. Made the job about 75% easier. I'd say 100% but it's still work! haha Also a little more cleanup but it breaks down easy enough.

@@keelapermaculturefarm No, I've only had "hair sheep". They never needed shearing. From what I've seen, the sheep really needs to be in a sitting or laying position to shear... I think...

@@BIGALTX yes that is how we have done it but I've seen online people doing it with them standing and the head locked in a high position so just thinking of more reasons to spend time making one and having it in the small barn. we had twins born this week that would not take milk and one lamb die from another mother so trying to get a mother to adopt. if i had one of these that would of been a lot easier to do on my own.

I need to build one of those just in case. I should have 4 new mom's next spring. I had my first problem ram. I could not break him trying to attack me, so he took a one way trip to see my butcher. I got go fetch him shortly.

+Emmie Godeaux Man... I don't know... hogs are STRONG. It would have to be made from something other than wood (metal). I think a good sized hog would tear this one up.
