Recently turned in my 240L for the last time. I was fairly happy with the performance and reliability of the platform over the years. I think once this is fielded and any underlying kinks are worked out, this will absolutely be the peak of general purpose machine guns. Lighter weight and shorter OAL is huge. Now manufacturers should look into replacing or optimizing the M192 LWGM. A lighter, better tripod and a solid way to carry it is usually what’s the weak link with MG’s in my experience
@Liberty4Ever6 жыл бұрын
The 224 Valkyrie looks interesting in either platform but the concept of a 6.5 Creedmoor belt-fed machine gun just blew my mind.

LMG in 6.5? FUTURE!!!!!FUTUREEEEEE!!!!
@bell26266 жыл бұрын
and how is that?
@bell26266 жыл бұрын
I dont think 6.5 Creedmoor would be a wrench in the gears as its just a barrel change being 308 parent case. As for suppressing fire you can still do it if not better up to the range the creedmoor is capable of doing. As well as having a higher chance to hit the target with less ammo.
@bell26266 жыл бұрын
Im assuming that youre refering to the 308 having more "knock down power" the creedmoor has just as much energy transfer into the target as 308, as well as having the larger wound channel from the 6.5 tumbling inside a soft target from the long length of the bullet itself similar to the 5.45x39.
@bell26266 жыл бұрын
Have you not seen what a 6.5 143 gr ELD-X does to an animal? There is no problem for a 6.5 to take out a target and the 6.5 is so much more stable than the 308.
@bell26266 жыл бұрын
Oh thats where youre wrong in the case of the 6.5 creedmoor. The round is one of the most stable rounds in the wind.

If the Marine Corps got a contract from Barrett to have this 240LWS replace the M240B... it would make alot of happy Marines!

This, but with a single shot feature, tripod mount, vehicle mount, ambidextrous controls, suppressor capable with adjustable gas settings, mlok rail mount, shortened and side opening feed tray, the ability to charge the weapon on safe, the ability to aircraft load the weapon, the ability to load the weapon from left or right, the ability to load the weapon with the feed tray cover closed, a spoon attached to the links to assist in feeding, a ratchet system to prevent unintentional firing if the bolt is not fully charged to the rear, and a barrel swap capability for 6.5/6.8 and .338 would make this the best machine gun ever. I like the simplifications with weight, but I think a little bit more work needs to be done regarding feeding and loading before this can replace the M240L AND beat out the Sig or GD MG 6.8/ .338. It's really good though! I'd really like to see this gun with the above suggestions and polymer cased telescopic ammo and polymer links! With polymer cased telescopic ammo, there's no more "brass to the grass, links to the sky, rounds downrange"! Just "rounds downrange", so that simplifies loading even further. Furthermore, polymer cased telescopic ammo reduces recoil, muzzle flash, weight, and heat generated from firing. Combine that with a next gen lightweight polymer bipod, and both the USMC and US Army- and probably international markets- would be racing to scoop up this weapon. There's still a few kinks to work out regarding which intermediate cartridge we want, so in the meantime I'd be okay with a polymer cased telescopic 7.62 round the 240 can use. American made products that don't rely on titanium shipped from overseas can only do us good.
@theimmortal47185 жыл бұрын
I'd still rather see the KAC machinegun design pushed forward rather than continuing production of the m249 and m240. The constant recoil feature alone makes it worth it. Plus, the weight reductions are way better. 9 lbs dry for 5.56 and 13.5 lbs for 7.62. that would changing the life of a machinegunner significantly.
@cm-pr2ys2 жыл бұрын
How well can the 7.62 KAC LMG be used in the sustained fire role though?
@theimmortal47182 жыл бұрын
@@cm-pr2ys Considering the lower stress on the receiver due to the large recoil springs, and proven track record of aluminum being successful in rifle reviewers, I'd say pretty good. They wouldn't have a problem firing a gunners basic load rapidly, and they still have the ability for QC barrels.

@youreright75346 жыл бұрын
Padmmegh Ambrela I'm saying ar15 size. Not ar10. Grendel has consistently the best energy, best long range performance, cheap 23c ammo, low recoil, cheap mags, reliable, accurate, and can hunt most game with it in all states. 6mm could be better but nobody has tried it
@TakNuke6 жыл бұрын
whatsit tooya I recommend you to TFB's article on AR15 Creedmoor? .224 Valkyrie vs .22nosler and 6.5 grendel by Nathaniel F in which he tells us about the round and it clearly shows in the graph that Valkyrie(90gr) starts with higher velocity and ends with higher velocity compared to grendel(123gr) while maintaining same energy at 1km with less drop and drift. A heavier round results in a higher recoil impulse.
@youreright75346 жыл бұрын
Padmmegh Ambrela I would expect higher velocity out of a round that is over 30% lighter, but in the graphs you can see that the grendel murders it in initial energy, and murders it out to about 1100 yards, and at that point the energy is so low that its pointless. In any hunting, plinking, or even any competition environment the grendel is better. How many people's ranges go out to 1300 yards? Maybe .01% of people? And how many go out to 1000? Maybe 1%? And at that point it's useless to be using an ar15 when you can just use creedmoor or others. Grendel is an all around powerhouse. 224 is good for long range and that's about it.
