The Daewoo rifle is pretty much a combination of the AR15 and AR180 with a little bit of F-15.

And yes, K1 'submachine guns' are still in production mainly for the special forces , tank crews, miliatry police and officers in South Korea.

I was very impressed by the sights. the Koreans were shooting 10 for 10. while I was the only 10 with the M4 in my squad. says a lot about the weapon when it comes to targeting. I looked through the sight and understood.

k1a1 소총...그런데 일부 채널에서는 경소총..카빈이라고도 부르더군요. 로스엔젤레스 흑인폭동때 한인교포들이 이 총으로 맞서기도 했습니다. 구글에 검색하니 사진을 찾을수 있었습니다. 개인적으로 이총이 K1A 대신에 사용되었으면 하는데...

I wish they were imported as well, back in the early 90's I went to the Army's Foreign Weapon Course and I got to play with a the select fire version. I remember it was single, burst and full auto, receiver, I was very much impressed and wondered why we hadn't adopted it ourselves. As I've mentioned on other posts on your channel, I would love to see Armalite reproduce the AR-180 once again with some modern adaptions. I even thought the Robinson Arms Expeditionary rifle seemed cool as well, but was costly in a time, when the market wasn't hot and price, likely reflected it's sales. I think an FN-FAL in 5.56, would be a great choice as well, unfortunately they aren't something that is widely available.

It is still produced but is not given to standard soldiers. 707 special mission group use this gun for it’s compact ability which is something that the k2 is not originally made for. Both have different roles that are vital for specific missions.

That end quote makes it sound like Clint served in Korea. In actuality he was a swimming instructor at Fort Ord in Cali, with some weekend work as a bouncer at the NCO club. Cool guy with a lot of stories (on a trip home on a navy bomber it crashed at sea and he had to swim a few miles to shore) but misleading nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure the military one is called the K1A nowadays because they fixed up issues of the original K1 and none exist anymore.

Along time ago Colt tried to sue the company that made the k2 and k1 for allegedly copying the design of the m16. It turns out Daewoo copied some of the design from FN. My father served in the Korean armed forces in the 90s and was issued this weapon. He thought the world of it.

That's one fair rifle, though it has sharp recoil, but still it's a quite nice gun, also easy to do some maintanance work

I remember these guns from the Robocop films. Many thugs use the gun in the drug factory shootout in the 1st movie and is also used by both cops and criminals alike in the 2nd.

Typically it's the other way around, handguns are usually banned before rifles. Since handguns are the most used firearm in murder. Anti-gun Americans are just really backwards. They find it outrageous to be able to own a semi automatic rifle, regardless of the fact that there were less than 250 murders with rifles in 2014 in the US. But they're perfectly fine with people owning handguns.

i was using this k1a rifle during army service about 2years. in the ROKA (republic of korea army) using this rifle assignment to a position are special force, weapon div. i was a anti tank platoon which using m67 90mm recoiless rifle. in my memory this rifle worse than a k2 rifle. low accuracy, loud gunfire sound than k2 rifle

Confuser Peter - The Revenge Seeker It's definitely a carbine, seeing how it's chambered in a rifle round and is shorter than the standard issue K2. However, South Korea designated it a SMG because that's the role it was intended to fulfill in place of the M3 Grease gun.

You need an importer stateside willing to do the conversion work. For instance semi-auto rifles can't be imported that can take a magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. That means the South Koreans would have to export the receiver minus the magwell to be opened up in the states to be able to use standard AR mags. I believe that is what Arsenal and other AK importers do with their guns.
