If the Mini electric had a bit more range I would be all over it. I know I would want to road trip it once in a while and with electrify America's issues I would not feel comfortable doing it with only 110 miles of range.

Get the BMW i3S with the 42kwh battery and option it with the REx generator. Battery range is 170 miles and with the REx you can hold the battery at 75% indefinitely as long as there is gas in the tank.. Of course the battery percentage will go up and down slightly depending on speed, weather and if you're driving up an elevation, but usually the REx is pretty good at holding the battery.. You should be able to do your road trips with ease.. Prices have skyrocketed on used i3's due to the chip shortage and BMW pulling the i3 out of North America.

@@mamadouaziza2536 no too ugly. Tommy made a comment about a faster Mini Electric coming. Maybe a bigger battery will be in that.

@@davva360 I doubt a bigger/heavier battery is coming to the Mini simply because the chassis and battery are the same as in the i3S. BMW isn't even offering a newer battery in the i3 and the i3 is a far bigger seller than the Mini EV. The 2021 i3S versions in gold, red and all blue and the new front fascia make the i3S look gorgeous especially with the new 20 inch wheel design. The all leather interior is awesome. I think the original i3 with the two tone paint and those turbine wheels and pizza wheels weren't that attractive.

My dream garage here in this video. The electric Mini is so comfortable in the city, you can drive using only your right foot. EV's are comfortable to do city driving and day to day stuff.

You must be a rich guy from London then. No way somebody would pay those prices for an electric BMW unless they think it´s part of the mini heritage. I know the feeling, was looking for a xc60 before i learned they are made in china and sold at the same price as the swedish made ones here in Sweden.

Wait a minute! You couldn't get a 2022 Clubman JCW with the 301 HP setup? That is the quickest new MINI (even over the GP3). ...and I agree with Tommy about the irrelevance of a MINI drag race. They are more for the twisties. ;-) As an ecstatic owner of a 2020 Countryman JCW (only a few tenths slower than the Clubman JCW and several tenths quicker to 60 than the GP3), I would much rather run some tight mountain roads than drag race. Rumors are that JCW will be going electric in future gens. I can't wait to see how quick they get. I'll miss the turbo gas engine, but the electric has much more potential and lowers the center of gravity, improving handling even more.

I agree. It needs to have its own platform, not just stuffing it into an ICE body. I would be tempted to get one, but the range is just a little too low. 200 miles would be great.

What's shocking is the minor difference in performance between the JW and the electric considering the price difference. I'm not sure the top trim price can be justified. It's always been super pricy for what you get on paper.

They are a mile above sea level, normally the jaw does 62mph in 6.5 or less, and past 60 I bet it’s much quicker, tho you wouldn’t see that on this short track

Tommy is right, the classic Mini was more fun. A few years back I was driving my 73 Opel GT, it was a cold February morning, and my heater doesn't work. Next to me at the red light was a new Lexus GS something, and as I looked over at it, I knew I was having more fun.

Ok, I think it’s down to the Mini electric or I’m going all out on the town car and getting an Arcimoto FUV. The Mach E will road trip enough and around town, fun is key.

That classic Mini looks to have some alignment issues in the rear from the way it is tracking. Maybe just the way it is... :)

How much fun was this video? I love the electric mini, but how practical is it really at 120 miles (?) What do you do if the power grid goes down, and why isn't the roof a solar array that will charge your car when you live in the middle of no where, and *Charge America* is working with it's usual failed non efficiency!!

I went and test drove a Mini SE yesterday based on this positive coverage (and being vegan, haha) and was honestly a bit disappointed. The SE has absolutely ZERO steering feel and was substantially louder inside than I expected. Even though it has strong regen, it won't brake hold at lights. The interior was beautiful but there's no lumbar support, the seat bottoms are quite narrow, and the pointless side sun visor cut into the already limited head room. Plenty fast, but too many compromises for nearly $40K before rebates.

Odd, we were driving ours the other day and the sun was just at eye level and that side visor was the perfect solution to keep from being blinded on the road.

It's $30k before rebates, which means $20-22.5k after. That's cheaper than the gas version.

@@cadriver2570 Incorrect. The vehicle I drove, configured similar to TFL's was $37.5K. Only the base model without the sunroof is $30K.

@@frumpd63 Don't buy the loaded model. The SE has a starting price of $30k (before credits), and it comes very well equipped compared to other Minis. The upgraded SE models have the same drivetrain, same range, same touchscreen with nav Carplay, etc. With the gas Cooper and Cooper S nav/carplay is only available in the top trim. If you really need a sunroof, the mid tier model at $34k has it.
