Doflamingo actually did use his awakening in the fight before this moment. Luffy was surprised at the time, because he couldn't see where the strings were coming from.

About the DF awakening, it was first mentioned by Crocodile in Impel Down, he said those beast guards (the cow, giraffe, coala? I think it was a coala, and rhyno) were awakened zoan users.

Not sure if the particular costumes themselves have a special name (probably), but you're thinking of a design in Kabuki Theatre. Kumadori of CP9 (the guy who got bodied by Monster Chopper) was another prime example of it. The initial pose Luffy struck with his hands and the odd way he said Gear Foooooorth are also common elements found in Kabuki Theatre.

Not sure if you guys noticed this but the leo bazooka was a call back to the attack that lucci used on luffy back in enies lobby "six king gun", hence the name "leo" bazooka because of lucci's leopard fruit

We now know that devil fruits respanw in nearby fruits. Maybe Jesus has some fruits stored in the bag on his back in case he kills someone with a devil fruit and that’s why it has the devil fruit pattern.

For some context and foreshadowing (which i'm not sure is in the anime, but does exist in the manga. During the impel down arc, do you recall the beasts that chased down luffy and the impel down gang? The ones with weapons who were like larger animals and snotted all over themselves. The minotaur, the Koala, the Zebra etc. In the manga, Crocodile mentions that those were Awakened Zoan users. So if you didn't know, now you know, Devil fruit Awakenings have been thought of for a while and only fully implemented here.

So, I’m not a caught up manga reader so I don’t know for sure, but I think since Marineford, Blackbeard didn’t just go into Impel Down for new members, I think he found a way to take devil fruit powers directly from someone else, we’ve only seen it done on a corpse, so I don’t know if it has to be done right after someone is dead or if they just unlocked the secret to take the powers when it is inactive. It didn’t seem like Jesus was after killing straw hat, only to take his power, so what if there’s a secret technique that can take inactive devil fruit powers and transfer them to a new user? If so, that’s why one person can have multiple devil fruit powers, because it only kills you if you have eaten more than one devil fruit, but if you obtain the powers a different way, then it won’t kill you afterall. As One Piece just reached their 25th anniversary, I honestly think that this may be the halfway point, meaning Oda will continue One Piece going for 50 years. In the most recent recap episode, Zoro said this is just the beginning, I honestly think that One Piece will not end with the King of the Pirates. I think the final war will happen at that point and reunions will follow.

Toie did the animation with the shrinking birdcage really badly and animated it far too quickly. They could have done a much better job! And then there's the unnecessarily long delay and pacing... just annoying!

You're delusional. Kaido himself called Doflamingo weak and said Jack wasn't. Based on feats, bounty, narrative, and shonen arc structure/powerscaling (each arc being stronger than the last), Queen and King are both stronger than Doflamingo.
